  • The summit and Jegs billet valve body instructions are not very descriptive. I made this video to show you some of what they are talking about. Some of the steps that need to be taken are not even mentioned in the instructions.
    I forgot to mention in the video that the bigger bolts holding the valve body torque to 15 ft lbs and the smaller ones torque to 8 ft lbs.

    Tore apart my th400 to swap out the output shaft, Wish there was a step by step install video for dummies like me

    Do you have any updated video of testing it and making sure it works? I want to buy just valve body and do it but wondering if just buying a trans already with transbrake is better.

      This valve body requires 14 volts ,if your running higher than 250psi ,line pressure , have used 2, will not use again. They neglect to tell you, drill 1/16 relief in direct drum. Throw this junk in the box it came in,and get a TCI, or FTI transbrake and solenoid. It is a pretty piece. But thats it. 42 years in the transmission rebuilding buisness.     Did you go with a hi flow trans filter? What was the part number from Summit Racing, I recently found out that I used the wrong filter media, was told to use the screen type filter when using trans brake, reverse manual valve body

      Thomas Anderson for racing I’d suggest a brass screen filter. They can be had for 10-15 dollars. I don’t remember the part number though honestly

    What if you don’t plug the modulator and leave the modulator in? Would this still keep the trans brake function but keep line pressures down in cruising and at idle?

      I would not leave the modulator in. The valve body is designed to work with full pressure.

    After having my ati freshened I have no reverse any ideas? I talked to the guy that did it and he said to check an see if a 1/4 “ steel ball was left out 🤷‍♂️ and it has a gasket on both sides of the plate.

    I was in the middle of installing one today. I am used to leaving off the second seal on the center support. This didn’t say to and tech support told me to follow the instructions??

      My instructions said to leave off the second seal which is what I did on the install

      Mountains Garage I’m having the same issue not sure if I should remove it or not I seen other guys remove it but I’m not sure...Any luck have you installed ur transmission already???

      gm Tech. I called Transmission Specialities which makes the transbrake for Jegs and Summit, they put me through to the builder and he confirmed the second seal from the front of the center support gets left off. Poor instructions for sure.
      I had to disassemble and rotate the solenoid so the leads would reach the pass through, it was assembled with the wires facing the front of the transmission and needs to face the rear.
      It seems like a quality piece but the transmission is not tested yet.

    Did you have to leave any of the transmission check balls out?

      Yes all of them other than the white ball supplied with the valve body

    Big help. Too bad I watched it after I installed the pump haha. Had to go back and take the Teflon ring out and change the spring in The pump.

    Is this valve body with or without engine braking?

      There’s no engine braking with this valve body

      I dont, but it’s not too hard to get out of there. Remove the pump and the forward drum and the direct drum is right there

    So what is the benefit of installing this over what was originally in it?

      The main benefit is having a trans brake for drag racing. It is also much lighter than the stock valve body, and it makes for much firmer shifts

    i have one and the installation is shit .the case it self need no mods to it ,my case have mods to it so i should remove it
