I have the same problem with my Harsh Reality. I've found to play the line tight and let it lane shine to solve this. I shouldn't complain as I've had a few games that were good, 234, 242 and a 228. But, it took me longer than I wanted to to figure it out and I had to watch a lot of ball reviews to figure out what to do with it.
I really would have liked the XCell instead as it fits my games a lot better and rolls how I like to see a ball roll.

How does the cell compare to hammer effect for house shot league 1st game.
Not really that close, the Effect is a handful of boards stronger and a lot sharper on the backend. The Cell might be a little more controllable, but may not be strong enough for the fresh, depends on your conditions.
Would the x be a good step up to the attention star?
Yep, especially if you kept the X at box, they'd work really well together.
To me, it looks like a lane-shined Black Widow 3.0, which would be a good thing.

The X is definitely going to be the weaker, cleaner, and sharper ball, the Extreme is one of the big oil monsters up with the Gem.
@Luke question: does this entire ball look like all of its tech is reused except for the AI?
Pretty much, but even AI is a decades old concept. However, bowling technology really has nowhere else to go aside from a little nipping and tucking here and there. Good ball reaction exists in a very small window, made even smaller by rules and regulations. Plus people really don't want new, when they make new, no one wants it, but as soon as another Black Widow or Phaze or Cell comes out and people go crazy for it.
how does this compare to dna coil
Almost seems like just a solid version of it. Little earlier, stronger, and smoother than the Coil.
