i like the story telling in your painting. the color theme just work perfectly. I do like your original idea of maybe some fire on the surface of sea( idk am I right? those orange reflection at 2:04). but without it now the character is more in the focal point and give a hopeless and sad moody feeling rather than dangerous action feel . this is one of the reason I like your timelapse video, I can see your decision making , the try and error phase.
that's right. I originally wanted it to be a bit dramatic. then I want it to be more tragic.. That's also why I chose the very sad background music at the end of the video
sorry, this is just my little understanding of art. he removed the fire on the water because it would remove the focus of a warm character with a cold environment, so the main focus was not on the character, and instead made him shift the focus to a warm fire area , it would make it more dramatic, but it would lose balance in the picture. if you look at the whole picture, it combines the balance of warm and cold
It's just totally amazing! By watching ur videos I get so much motivation to create something more! I hope u keep creating and sharing these fantastic time lapse video. Also tutorials or some learning part if possible!
whoa I'm literally still at the beginning and I can't stop staring at it all: the zooming effect of the bullets(I assume those are bullets) going past the character, the absolute expressiveness of the character themselves... WOW. Edit: changed "character" to "characters" lol
Always a delight to see another Mineko piece come to life! This one's so intense, too, the scene itself is gorgeous and captured perfectly, and all those little details just enhance the environment and narrative! And then the characters- wow, their expressions are captivating! It's like you can feel their struggle and agony- thanks for sharing the process!
Seriously bro, you've outdone yourself now, in my opinion this is your best art so far, oh my, Mineko's art from under the water... You're very talented, and I'm inspired by you a lot!!
Damn I watch from start to end the perspectives and colors are so amazing , I hope I can use your'e talent just one hour hehe :> I have no words that's really cool and amazing traditional artwork keep up Dao Lee.
So cool that you can make the viewer come up with a story seeing only one frame. So this is my story: They were 3 friends, warriors, that were sailing the seas going after their enemy, their serious threat but they got jumped on by two different ships on the way. It happened so fast that there was no hope. They didn’t really have a chance. The other ships started firing without wasting a second and so most of the crew died there without getting a chance to fight back. The female (could be) warrior was ready to start an engage and fight for all they had left but the one warrior, who’s still on the ship stopped her and changed her mind. (Since you can see that her sword is still sheathed, so she didn’t get to fight.) Yet she didn’t want to leave the ship and fight with others but one warrior decided to stay on and sacrifice himself so these two get to scape. The other warrior grabbed her and jumped into the water. (Somewhat against her will). At this time most of the ship was destroyed and there was no hope since you can see the leftover of the ship wreck… (Edit: these two are half siblings and the one left one the ship was her lover or something like that. Hehe.)
Beautiful as always, please dont stop uploading this videos, for a small artist like me, give us hope and ispiration to be a better artist, just like you ❣️peace and love brother
Dao, I was rewatching Avatar for the 3rd time and stopped to watch the credits when I got jumpscared by "Animatic Editor: Dao Le", WAS THAT DAO LE YOU????
this is amazing, i like the composition, style, technique, the story. However, the biggest problem for me was decoding that there was a guy there. I first thought his white hair was a part of her clothes and then I noticed his arm, and I thought, huh, she has four arms? And then it hit me, that there's a guy there. I don't really know how to solve it, maybe change the angle it's viewed at a bit? Add a faint rim light so you clearly see a border between his and her silhouettes? Some other guy on youtube who did character design said that having an easily decodable silhouette can really help readability and i think there's a problem with this here. I hope you don't mind this bit of critique, I wish I could draw like you.
Fcking epic timelapse and painting! I always love to see how artist complete their drawings from start to finish. 🤯I do have a question; how did you do the zooming out effect and what program did you use to do it? 🤔It gives it some REALLY nice depth and I literally feel like I'm in the scene watching it unfold
why do I have very small drawings on the layers, and you have large ones, and you can see what is drawn on them? and what permission to exhibit for works of this format?
hi guys can u all teach me how did dao did the selection part, the character parts like how he select/lasso it to the base did the individual layer got clip to it or he jusy precisely lasso it for layer by layer the part that start at 2:17 N;sorry if its not understandable my English isn't good thx in advance for those who will answer
Idk If I understand your question correctly But I guess this is what he did in that part -He selected the base and use Lasso tool on it, - then press Ctrl+J (Double selection into new layer) - And change color I hope this helps :D

I just stumbled upon this from my recommended. Is Mineko just their illustration series? Or is this from a book, game, etc?

Hello, I've been following you for a while and I'm trying to draw like you, but I can't, how long have you been drawing?
might be a silly question, but what size and resolution of canvas do you typically start off with?
can i ask you, which screen record do you use? And is it laggy after some recording? >
Are these original characters or characters from an existing media?
