You know James is an 80s gamer when he gets so emotional about things like passwords being too long, instruction manuals not being descriptive enough, unhelpful Game Genie codes, and a lack of continues.

AVGN Adventures 2 should have Death Guy and Mr. Kill as a boss duo.
Both of which you're introduced to by an NPC after you've already defeated them.
Make it a trio with Naked Claw Guy.

This is such an underrated episode. I love the ones where he gets really deep into a hard ass game, you really find yourself getting invested in watching him beat it
I had that Dr Frank game, his death animation used to terrify me when I was a kid.

I love how AVGN's machine that brings the monster to life is just the furnace and the hot water heater.
And thus years after this game, there's actually a character named Mr. Kill.

this is the "Frankenstain" timeline
half a decade later, i still feel like these are the strongest AVGN episodes(the one's in which the nerd doesn't just cover one specific game. instead i prefer the episodes that he explores multiple games under the same subject; ie frankenstein or covers various games under the umbrella of one particular system; ie Intellisvision.) i'm a big fan of all JR's work, but i really appreciate it when he addresses a number of titles.
I'm inclined to agree, his multi-game episodes are the ones I tend to re-watch the most. 😁

He is wrong sometimes. He goes for comedy, not accuracy. He absolutely butchered the save system for Hydlide. It works nothing like he describes it.

That weapon makes the whole of Stage 3 way easier

I guess Frankenstein's monster needs a name, and personally if I were a monster I'd probably adopt the surname of my creator, since he'd be the nearest thing I had to a parent. Bob Frankenstein. That's who I'd be.

Frankenstein: The Monster Returns is IMO an underrated lesser known NES classic. Great graphics for NES at the time, difficult but not impossible gameplay, pretty good storyline and boss fights.
I had Dr. Franken on my SNES back in the day - the biggest problem is that it uses a timer..what the hell was up with all these old games that worked on timers, that shit isn't fun!

MrGauller, marlb0r015- you're right. Battletoads was a good episode, and Ikari Warriors was hilarious, with "Where Did Their Hair Go?". We need a new Kyle episode.
Kyle didn't do the alternate versions of the theme that appeared in this episode, though. That'd be "Julio", and Working Theory.
I like the creativity with putting a stick (as a giant power switch) on top of a household furnace. Looks like the chain and wire to some box in the front of the furnace is also part of the set.

Is anyone else wondering why the “Blademaster” is waiting for your character in that sexy pose? Also, I agree there wasn’t the huge production quality in earlier Halloween specials, but to be fair, he’s already done most of the bigger franchises in horror that have games, so it’s hard to top Freddy, Michael, Jason and Leatherface.

Yes. True. However, you gotta remember for a looong time now james made AVGN episodes parallel to the movie, being on a very stingy time budget. Now that its over he might get into it full force again.
