He wants to prove to Gi-Hun the truth about human nature (greedy as they voted to continue after each game to get more money even if it means more players will die) and he wants Gi-Hun to admit his naive heroics won’t change anything or stop the game.
The intensity of ep 1’s Russian roulette was so good. “Time to say goodbye” roaring in the background and the lines of Seong Gi-Hun. Muah, peak cinema. Best part of season 2.
My favorite K-drama trope is when they Cry Eat. Like chipmunk cheeks, rice flying out, snotty nose, but they have to eat to keep going, their sick mom told them they had to keep going... Cry eat is the hardest eat.
Gi-Hun is an idiotic idealist. Before the games, he chose to remain with a group of strikers at his workplace rather than being with his wife that nearly died when his daughter is going to be born and that results in him being estranged from his wife. When she confronts him about it later, he tries to justify his actions. When he has a chance to board the plane and be with his daughter, he chose to go back and confront the powerful members behind the games.
Not a bot. But I honestly hated season 1 as a Korean. The first season kind of flopped in Korea. But I loved season 2 except for the ending. Loved how fast-paced it was in season 2. I felt insulted at the end though.
I agree! Korea kills it when it comes to the tv and film industry in my opinion. Everything from the direction to the acting and the screenplay is phenomenal
The season as a whole would’ve been a perfect sequel if it followed the 9-episode format like Season 1, but I guess we have to wait for Season 3. Was this sequel really needed, no, but this was definitely the best possible route you could take with the show. It probably won’t hold up like Season 1 due to a lack of freshness and mystique when the show originally came out, but this was the best possible sequel you can make if there HAD to be one. It had new very complex and likable characters, entertaining games, the right direction in the various storylines, and I absolutely loved the entire plot surrounding the Front Man joining the game. My main critique is that it did not seem like at all a season of a television show whatsoever. Just two more episodes to wrap up the show would’ve been nice, but I’m very glad that the show didn’t ruin its legacy and took extreme care with it.
I never thought of it like that, but my sister (who's more familiar with Korean works) said that what makes the show so effective as a drama, is that it basically takes your heart and puts it through a shredder. And I applaud them for not taking the easy way out and having more than one winner. It would've cheapened the show's dramatic value. Although, I wouldn't be against the idea of a more ensemble-style format, if we get a Season 2. Having a main character has its benefits, but it also means we know who wins from the get go. If the show handled it correctly, having a different victor would be a very subversive surprise. The problem is trying to handle it well, without making it obvious.
In this case, the game's rules required it to be formulaic. Formula = inevitability, and the inevitability of the outcome was the real tragedy, not a mystery. That's what made it so "painful". The important thing - and the thing that makes this show so incredible- is the fact that we see the inevitability, but the characters and their choices aren't predictable, so the arc in how they get there is compelling.
All three winning would be Hollywood style. Nope, Korean dramas are much more sad and tragic compared to Hollywood’s. It’s the whole point of dramas. To squeeze the viewers’ hearts out. Let then cry. Feel the pain. Korean history is a history of “han”. Han means deep sadness that hasn’t been resolved.
It had higher highs and lower lows. The idea of utilizing a voting system to further the idea of whether democracy is fair was pretty brilliant but could've been used better. The games were very fun, and the new characters were mostly great. Excited for S3. Also even as a native Korean speaker and a VIP - TOP's acting was kinda bad. I'm sorry but his performance especially when acting against better actors like 333 (Yim Siwan) and 124 (Roh Jae-won) really took me out of the show Source: saw it pre-release through a screener.
Ugh, you're right. My dad loves K dramas, and every time I watch one with him, it's always something like "this woman has cancer. It's terminal. And she has a young child who will have to grow up without her. AND her husband is cheating on her," and I'm like JESUS how much more are we going to pile on here??
Just finished watching season 2 , i REALLY like the first and last episode I don't like the purple alien guy that looks for colorful stones or whatever I think the ending was rushed , the season was too short Very wholesome show No bonker plot twists whatsoever 😊 I recommend to watch with family!
The coward girls in round 6: I WANT TO LEAVE BEACAUSE THIS IS THE DEADLIEST GAME IN THE WORLD Season 1:easiest honey comb Season2:hard honey comb Season 3:💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Unfortunately, as much as I adored Ali I knew he was going to die after seeing him in the first episode. The actor only plays smaller roles (with SQ being the biggest) and his character was also so innocent and sweet he couldn’t possibly make it out alive. On the bright side, the actors for both Ali and SaeByeok have been having a blast with their newfound fans and reception! Lol
The problem is, doing that can sometimes make it seem like the show is trying too hard to make us sympathise, rather than have the character appeal to us through their personality and actions. Thankfully that was the case here, but you see it often. A character that has everything going against them, in a cheap way to garner sympathy, rather than putting more effort in.
I honestly did not expect season 2 to be this good. Season 1, for me, was a bit dragging. But in season 2, there was a different editing style, which helped to maintain the pace and keep the show fresh. Honestly, I loved season 2 more than the first one. Maybe it is just me, but I loved it. Crazy good except for the abrupt ending.
Having had no idea who he was beforehand - TOP was actually one of my favorite parts of this season, and I thought he did great. In fact, I thought they did his character a disservice by killing him off so soon into the Games. I think his wingman should have been the one to get forked, because his death was so anticlimactic for the role he was playing.
Saw pre release. Entertaining enough to fill a couple nights after work, ultimately disappointing. A few emotional hand grenades, and a first episode that promised more than the show ever gave. Nothing past the roulette ever reaches the peaks of season 1, and most of the show feels pretty redundant. Im sure this opinion wont be taken well here, as the show is entertaining/well enough done to warrant its time on screen. Disappointing is the word that springs to mind though, waiting for season 3.
The worst part of season 2 was the rebellion… it’s not credible that so many ppl went along with gihun…. When it’s not like they would divide the already made money equally… they probably only trust the game creators to allocate the prize money equally
Why The Front Man Didn't Kill Gi hun At The End Of Squid Game Season 2?

Worst part about this season was how abruptly it ends. Really feels like I just watched a Part 1, not a full season.
yes i feel it odd too! must need season 3 for sure!
Thats because season 3 is confirmed for 2025, so they needed a good cliffhanger to keep the hype
@@FataUser yea
@@FataUserand it will be the last. At least thats what i heard.
@@NeonShark32 yes that’s right season 3 will be the last season

If people dislike the plots of season 2, the mission is accomplished.

Season 2 Ep1&2 is amazing but 6-7 eps is not the best.
We will see the final season 3.
