I was there at the game .Enjoyed watching german pitching the game of his life . His stuff had a lot of movement and great velocity. But of course Baboone couldn’t help himself and had to take him out so I can leave the stadium with an L . UNREAL !

Tribe fan here. Mad thanks to Aaron Boone for pulling the dumbest move of the entire season tonight. Pulls German after a dominating performance with one out in the 9th after giving up only his 2nd hit of the game & pitch count under 90. Couldn't believe it! I told my wife that I hoped the Yanks got beat after pulling such an asinine move. Actually felt sorry for German for having such a stupid manager. Loved your take by the way. I would have been irate beyond belief if the situation was reversed & the Indians had done something that stupid! Thanks for seizing a loss from the jaws of victory! We greatly appreciate it!
Yes, others have also pointed out how this bone head move was definitely a blow to German's confidence. Aaron Boone is capable of breaking a player's spirit instead of building on it. It's obvious at this point - even early in the season - that fans are frustrated with the moves of Aaron Boone.
Remember, Boone took Cole out early against Houston in the playoffs too. It looks like the Analytics Team calls him to tell him to take out the starter.
Said it for YEARS they will NOT bring in someone like Donnie or Jeter or O'Neill to manage or coach or GM again cause they don't want the negative impact of having to eventually firing them and dealing with that nightmare

Preach ✊. The incompetence starts with Boone and permeates the clubhouse of mass injury and lack luster will to win. Cashman/ Boone shoulda been gone a long time ago. Clean house, do everything possible to bring back yankee baseball (Mattingly, Posada, Jeter, Pettite, Cone, Reggie etc) ANYTHING to bring back yankee swagger.

Derek, I'm glad you finally came to our court. Several of us have been calling for Boone to be fire for at least 3 years. He is not a good manager, never has been, he is just a babysitter following Cashman's and his analytics' team orders. This team will never win with him as a manager. The guy is a nice guy, not a leader. Glad you finally came around.
With all of that said, this is all on Cashman. This is a poorly constructed team, it has been that way for at least 3 years. The team is full of bad players that do not fit together. They have a bunch of HR or strikeout right-handed hitters on a lefty suited stadium. No contact or balance in this team. They are easy to pitch to. And the bench is full of AAA players that do not fit or complement the team's regular players. This is a disaster of a baseball team. They promote money not winning (see Hicks and IKF as bench players). That sends the wrong message to the rest of the team. Why does anyone think Torres keep swinging for the fences knowing that his best approach is to hit to the opposite side like DJLM? That's your answer. It is the message from Cash, Boone and his analytics team. It's not about winning; it's about getting paid.
If you look at this team objectively and take the Yankee uniform away from these players, you expect them to get swept by any decent or good team. Expecting this team to get better is a fallacy too. Their regular players are ALWAYS injured. We knew this coming into this year (for at least the 3rd straight year!) and Cashman refused to do anything about it. Anyone expecting the team's OF to get better when Bader returns is delusional too, the guy is ALWAYS injured. In 7 years in MLB he has only played over 100 games TWICE! Again, they are a bunch of right-handed hitters who hit HRs and strikeout. Nothing changes, no contact hitting or good sound hitting approach.
I will never pay for anything related to the Yankees as long as Cash and Boone are leading this team. I'm glad I can at least step away from watching this poorly constructed team for my own mental health and stress. I feel sorry for Derek, Jomboy, Pete and anyone else who has to cover this garbage team and can't afford to stop watching for their own mental health. This team is unwatchable and it's all on Cash. How can you have a $300M payroll with such a garbage and unwatchable product is mind-blowing.

I was watching this game and telling myself in the ninth inning please please German don’t give up your 2nd hit of the night because Boone and his stick to the script approach is going to give you the hook and bring in… oh no Clay Holmes is warming up, the guy who cannot find a strike zone in the ninth AND has proven that time and time again. I'm not surprised, we have injuries and a brain dead manager. Whoever had WS hopes might as well throw it away for the next 4 years. Reason being, that's how long Cashman's here for.
Manager is always second guessed when it doesn't end well,if Boone leaves German in and he gives up a two run homer we would be ripping him for leaving him in to long!

That had to be one of the dumbest if not the dumbest managerial decision I’ve ever seen. If Boone had any respect for himself and the game, he would resign immediately.
I completely agree that Cashman needs to go and Hal should just sell the team because they’ve both lost the plot. But aside from signing injury prone or underperforming players and willing them to be better, I personally don’t think they have a single leader on that team.
Now I like Aaron Judge. Tons of talent. Says the right things during interviews. And obviously he is the new Yankee captain. HOWEVER, if I broke the AL home run record and just signed a new contract for 9 years, $360 million, I would start making demands of what players or type of players I’d want to join the team. I know he said a couple things regarding the young guys in Volpe and Peraza. But Judge, you are 6’7” 280 pounds, it’s time to be a little more outspoken and grow some bigger you know what.

I've been saying (mostly rants) this about Boone for a LONG time and I was getting a ton of pushback online too early on, but I KNEW IT all along.,,and he was born in a baseball family (father Bob, brother) how does that friggin happen? He cannot read a game, he cannot read pitching, nice guy (we do not need NICE guys-see Leo Durocher about that) but not a field general or a motivator, no fire. He needs to be gone but Cashman even more so. Boone first though. It isnt even just the analytics, he somehow has no instincts for the game, the big picture AND little picture. He thinks small ball is a testicle disorder, etc.
Nor will they win with Cashman building the roster. Look at the disaster of a roster he built.

Liked the rant! Notice how they only scored 2 runs again. The Oakland A's score more runs in the last 10 games. The HORRIBLE White Eox scored SEVEN against the Rays in one inning. These losers are wasting good pitching performances and can't bail out a mediocre pitching performance

Understandable that you’re upset…I gave up on the Aaron Boone led Yankees years ago. He shouldn’t even be managing a little league team. Derek, your f-bombs don’t bother me but your Gd’s and JC’s do! That’s extremely offensive.
