Crochet Tutorial For A Granny Stitch Hexagon Sweater

  • Hi everyone. This a crochet tutorial for a hexagon sweater made with the granny stitch.
    Pattern is in US TERMS
Things you need to know about this pattern...
    1. This pattern is made to measure. (A tape measure is essential. All of the measurements are provided below, you just need to measure your garment as you progress through the pattern).
    2. As it is made to measure you can use any weight yarn and any size hook.
    3. Due to the way in which the pattern is constructed, the larger the size, the wider the sleeves and the longer the length. The sleeves can get quite wide and there is an option to cuff them or leave them wide and flowing.
    4. Once it has been assembled, you can either leave it the length it is at or there is another option to add extra length.
    5. Because it is made to measure and you can use any yarn, I cannot provide yarn yardage details. This is a great project though for using up scraps!
    SIZING... Written as XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
As you progress through your pattern you will need these measurements...
    CHEST (cm) - 71-76 (81-86, 91-96, 101-106, 111-117, 122-127, 132-137, 142-147, 152-157)
    WIDTH OF HALF A HEXAGON (cm) - 15 (17.5, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, 31, 34)
    NECKLINE (cm) This is for each side - 7 (7, 7.5, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 8.5, 9, 9)
    SLEEVE LENGTH/FULL SLEEVE MEASUREMENT - (cm) - underarm to wrist - 42 (43, 43.5, 44.5, 45, 45.5, 45.5, 47, 47)
    SLEEVE LENGTH - WITH CUFF - (cm) - 38 (39, 39.5, 40.5, 41, 41.5, 41.5, 43, 43)
KEEP ADDING YOUR CUFF RIBBING UNTIL YOU REACH THE FULL SLEEVE LENGTH MEASUREMENT.
ADDING LENGTH TO THE BODY - xl to 5xl are long enough, but if you want extra length then that is absolutely fine, I haven't provided a measurement for these sizes. I would suggest doing 1 round on the bottom to make it look neat before adding the ribbing.
    FULL BODY LENGTH TO JUST BELOW THE WAIST (cm) - XS - L - 49.5 (50.5, 51, 52)
    ADDED LENGTH TO HIP (cm) - XS - L - 57 (58, 58.5, 59.5)
I would love to see your finished makes! Tag me on Instagram craftandacuppa

I really think you deserve payment for your tutorials because I'm honestly blown away with how mine is turning out following this; I've learnt so much and you've gone to so much effort with the sizing and step by steps, it's really appreciated. I've rewinded the video and watched it again, AND checked the description bar for sizing so many times as I'm making my way through! So glad I found your channel (this is my new favourite jumper), so a big thank you ☺️

Beautiful thank you, I love the way you so clearly describe each segment you crochet, I also think it’s a great idea to do both sides at the same time, I also prefer to weave in ends as I go cos they would never get done if I left it all to the end lol 😂 pleas keep on sharing your patterns with us, maybe a V neck sweater next, wishing you well carol from Scotland 😊

Its just personal preference. I'm so used to doing it with regular granny squares as it avoids a wonky square! It also keeps the join in unison. If you was to work on the same side the join would keep moving and would leave a diagonal line across your garment, where as if you turn after each round, the join starts in the corner throughout 🥰

Good morning Kelly. I am just about to start this lovely hexi jumper. I have six balls of Aran weight yarn and I will be doing size medium, do you think that would be enough? This will be my first crochet sweater attempt, only recently started crocheting back in October. Just want to say I love your tutorials ❤ really enjoy them.

    • @CraftandaCuppa
      @CraftandaCuppa  8 месяцев назад

I think it could be! It's hard for me to say as it depends on your hook size and tension! I had an estimate of 1100 for Aran weight with a 6mm hook and that's mid length. I hope that helps!

You can either add 3dc on the seam bar or skip over it, I would probably skip over it but you can always try both and see which one you prefer 🙂

Great pattern, but very disappointed to find the pattern that I bought in the pre-Christmas sale has expired and I’m no longer able to be downloaded it.
I’d bought 3 patterns and was looking forward to making them all. Bit of a shame It wasn’t made more clear that the written pattern expires.

Hi if it's from my website it's only the links that expire after 30 days! Can you message me through my website or send me your order number and I will resend your download links. Once you have downloaded the patterns you can then save them to your device to keep forever ❤️
