Crochet Tutorial For A Granny Stitch Hexagon Sweater

- Опубликовано: 8 сен 2024
- Hi everyone. This a crochet tutorial for a hexagon sweater made with the granny stitch.
Pattern is in US TERMS
Things you need to know about this pattern...
1. This pattern is made to measure. (A tape measure is essential. All of the measurements are provided below, you just need to measure your garment as you progress through the pattern).
2. As it is made to measure you can use any weight yarn and any size hook.
3. Due to the way in which the pattern is constructed, the larger the size, the wider the sleeves and the longer the length. The sleeves can get quite wide and there is an option to cuff them or leave them wide and flowing.
4. Once it has been assembled, you can either leave it the length it is at or there is another option to add extra length.
5. Because it is made to measure and you can use any yarn, I cannot provide yarn yardage details. This is a great project though for using up scraps!
SIZING... Written as XS (S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)
As you progress through your pattern you will need these measurements...
CHEST (cm) - 71-76 (81-86, 91-96, 101-106, 111-117, 122-127, 132-137, 142-147, 152-157)
WIDTH OF HALF A HEXAGON (cm) - 15 (17.5, 20, 22, 24, 27, 29, 31, 34)
NECKLINE (cm) This is for each side - 7 (7, 7.5, 7.5, 8, 8.5, 8.5, 9, 9)
SLEEVE LENGTH/FULL SLEEVE MEASUREMENT - (cm) - underarm to wrist - 42 (43, 43.5, 44.5, 45, 45.5, 45.5, 47, 47)
SLEEVE LENGTH - WITH CUFF - (cm) - 38 (39, 39.5, 40.5, 41, 41.5, 41.5, 43, 43)
KEEP ADDING YOUR CUFF RIBBING UNTIL YOU REACH THE FULL SLEEVE LENGTH MEASUREMENT.
ADDING LENGTH TO THE BODY - xl to 5xl are long enough, but if you want extra length then that is absolutely fine, I haven't provided a measurement for these sizes. I would suggest doing 1 round on the bottom to make it look neat before adding the ribbing.
FULL BODY LENGTH TO JUST BELOW THE WAIST (cm) - XS - L - 49.5 (50.5, 51, 52)
ADDED LENGTH TO HIP (cm) - XS - L - 57 (58, 58.5, 59.5)

I really think you deserve payment for your tutorials because I'm honestly blown away with how mine is turning out following this; I've learnt so much and you've gone to so much effort with the sizing and step by steps, it's really appreciated. I've rewinded the video and watched it again, AND checked the description bar for sizing so many times as I'm making my way through! So glad I found your channel (this is my new favourite jumper), so a big thank you ☺️
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate your generosity and I'm so pleased that you have enjoyed the tutorial! 🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️
Amen! 💯❤️🔥👌🏾
The more views and shares she has it how she gets paid.

Thank you so much for a well explained and relaxed way of making this jumper.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your generosity 🥰❤️
Thanks so much for the awesome video. I like how you gp slow and talk us through each step. I'm a visual learner, so this helps so much. I'm glad I came across your video. Excellent teacher. 😍
I'm so pleased you like it!
I never even thought to put the hexagons together! I must have made at least 10 of these! Wow! I can’t wait to do it!! Thank you!!
You're welcome 😊
You have such a great use of color. You should expand to babies and children! I’ve seen bunches of these but your neckline and creating a pullover are original!( I am back for my next hexigan sweater). I make one every winter and a spring color for Spring.
Beautiful thank you, I love the way you so clearly describe each segment you crochet, I also think it’s a great idea to do both sides at the same time, I also prefer to weave in ends as I go cos they would never get done if I left it all to the end lol 😂 pleas keep on sharing your patterns with us, maybe a V neck sweater next, wishing you well carol from Scotland 😊
Thank you Carol for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment. I really appreciate that! Great minds think alike with making them both at the same time and weaving I'm ends! 👍🏻🙂
Mikey from the crochet crowd suggest that you join your granny square with a 1/2 dc then you are in the right area to start the next round with no SS give it a try I have used it alot in your patterns try it The crochet crowd love the purple hexagon cardigan best 😁😊💜
Thank you 🥰
Can’t wait to get started. You are an absolutely awesome instructor. BIG THANK YOU.
Aww thank you so much ❤️

@@cl759 yes it definitely does 😆❤️
I really like this sweater. I followed your basic instructions and measurements but I did a solid hexagon rather than a granny stitch. I wanted a winter garment. It turned out perfectly. Thank you for your time and talents.

You are an inspiration!! Such a bright & cheerful person who explains everything so very well. After watching all of your tutorials I have made one sweater & almost finished a second one! I just love them & will be making lots more too. A wonderful design & so very well taught by yourself. You take all the mystery out of it & easily explain it all so nothing is difficult or left to guess work. Thank you so much . I have never made anything in crochet before except rugs, so I’m thrilled 👏👏👏. cheers 👏🥰❤️😊😍💕😇
Thats amazing! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a lovely comment! ❤️😍
This is soooo addictive, I started it thinking that I'll only crochet a few rows but I cannot stop... I am loving this. I am using Wendy Cotton Love DK in Black and Raspeberry alternatively, or when I feel like changing colours. Looking forward to finishing this and making a lot of others

Oh amazing! It will look fantastic!
If you're fast you can make 3 or 4 b4 xmas.
@@ishbahmalik7675 ha ha yes I'm definitely not that fast 😂
@CraftandaCuppa me neither. Toni from @tlyarns made one in 24hrs! Now that's fast! I should time myself... I did get a decent amount done in about 2-4hrs...

Always easy to understand and beautiful items. Your voice is cheery and makes it pleasant to learn. I was working on a cardigan but now I think I may make this with my hexagons. Thank you! From Texas, USA.

Oh wow thank you so much! I really appreciate your generosity 😍💖
Loveo love loveo this cardi & defo going to make it but I keep catching sight of your sleeves, they look awesome, have you got a pattern for the jumper you're wearing please?! 😊😊
Thank you!! Unfortunately I don't have a pattern for that one. It was something I freestyled when I took a mini break from pattern writing 🙃🙈
Hi! The only thing I couldn't quite understand from the project is why you turn every time you finish a round.
I love love love the colors!💕
Its just personal preference. I'm so used to doing it with regular granny squares as it avoids a wonky square! It also keeps the join in unison. If you was to work on the same side the join would keep moving and would leave a diagonal line across your garment, where as if you turn after each round, the join starts in the corner throughout 🥰
Gracias por compartir ,estoy tejiendo el mismo ,desde chile saludos cordiales 🧶🧶🧶💕👍🏽
Made this for my daughter
Ah amazing!! ❤️
❤
Woooow 👍👍👍
Yay! Thank you 😊
Love it was going to make another cardigan my 3rd but think I will just continue and make another sweater AKA jumper. I would love to see the pattern/video of the one you wore with the gold sleeve . Looking forward to the next project. Debi from New Jersey USA
Thank you so much 🥰
Sobeautiful❤❤
Thank you ❤️
Nice one , want to make one but I'm still working on the cardigan. What the heck will start it anyway it will all get finished eventually. 😂
Ha ha love it!! 😆😍
Great tutorial thank you. How can you work out how much yarn to get for a L size. Thank you
Good morning Kelly. I am just about to start this lovely hexi jumper. I have six balls of Aran weight yarn and I will be doing size medium, do you think that would be enough? This will be my first crochet sweater attempt, only recently started crocheting back in October. Just want to say I love your tutorials ❤ really enjoy them.
I think it could be! It's hard for me to say as it depends on your hook size and tension! I had an estimate of 1100 for Aran weight with a 6mm hook and that's mid length. I hope that helps!
Hi! This is such a great tutorial. I am so grateful. Though, i have one question about the sizing. The chest measurment, is that the garment itself or the person wearing it. Sorry for the bad english it is my second language.
It will be your chest measurement and then you pick the size closest to your chest measurement ❤️
Have just finished making the cardigan and you made it so easy to understand by showing every step of the pattern. Please can you tell me the shades of yarn you have used to make this gorgeous jumper. Diolch. from 🏴 x
Thank you so much! They are paintbox aran but the dark blue was deramores aran. I'm not sure of the shades though 🙈😆

Thank you x
OMG so so beautiful 🤩
Thank you so much 🥰
@@CraftandaCuppa would it be possible to do some close up shots showing where to place some stitches when doing the edges and neck as I get a bit confused sometimes
#what stitch lol 😂
Starting my first hexi, so excited and have watched this tutorial a million times beforehand in prep!! Youre very thourough. I am confused on one point & hope you can help. When doing the neck ,i ah have an odd number of infill rows and then the seam. When you skip an infill bar and DC the next,do you have to make sure you land on the seam bar and if so how can i do this if i have an odd number of them? I hope this makes sense as i think ive confused myself hahaha
You can either add 3dc on the seam bar or skip over it, I would probably skip over it but you can always try both and see which one you prefer 🙂
Hope you have lots of fun!!! 👍🏻🙂
Love this idea thank you for tutorial. Would it possible to downside it to toddler Size.
Its on my to do list to add children's sizes to the description. I've just got to work out the maths!
Great pattern, but very disappointed to find the pattern that I bought in the pre-Christmas sale has expired and I’m no longer able to be downloaded it.
I’d bought 3 patterns and was looking forward to making them all. Bit of a shame It wasn’t made more clear that the written pattern expires.
Hi if it's from my website it's only the links that expire after 30 days! Can you message me through my website or send me your order number and I will resend your download links. Once you have downloaded the patterns you can then save them to your device to keep forever ❤️
Could you tell me where the instructions are for the purple sweater/jumper are located thank you for your help purple is my favorite color
I crochet over my ends when I start the next row. I don’t like weaving them in when I’m finished.
Thank you for the lovely sweater. Very detailed explanation. Is there a written pattern where it tells us how much yarn we need to buy for which size.
Thank you. No there isn't a written pattern just the video. I didnt do the yarn yardage as its made to measure with any type of yarn but I can weigh mine for you and tell how much I used. Mine is a small with aran/worsted weight.
@@CraftandaCuppa Thank you that would be a great help.
@@VasantiP hi, so I used 532g of aran/worsted weight for a size small 🙂
@@CraftandaCuppa Thank you
Hi love making the hexi cardis and ur tutorials are brill !! Love this but do u do a children's sized version?
Hi I currently don't have a child version of this one ❤️
@CraftandaCuppa no worries thought I'd ask xxx love your videos x and thank you for replying x
Love this tutorial! Would the bottom ribbing work on a hexi cardigan? X
Yes absolutely 👍🏻❤️
I like your sweater..did u make it for yourself..
Did u have a writting pattern for the sweater u wearing..
Thank you, yes I make all of my sweaters myself. I currently dont have a written pdf though.
sorry silly question, making the front i get i got to do the same amount on the back and front width but for an xl size how far down do i go 8cms like you or another amount? 1st time doing the sweater ive done the cardi and love it
Can't wait to start this pattern! You are so delightful and informative!! Is there any reason you prefer a chain 3 to start each round with a new color instead of a floating double crochet?
Thank you. It's just personal preference, you can use whichever you wish. 🙂
Is this the one you created a short for? You made it in like every color?
Please and thank you 😊
Hi yes this is the one!
@@CraftandaCuppa yay! Thank you ❤️
I know you cant give yardage requirements, but can you tell me how many skeins of each color you used for this project specifically? Thank you! Looking forward to making one or more of these!
Hi I used one skein of each colour for a size small and had plenty leftover. It was all paintbox simply Aran if I remember correctly 🤔
@@CraftandaCuppa awesome!! Thank you so much!!
How come ur sleeves don't look as wide as min?
I made a size small, could that be it? 🥰
Would it be ok to start middle with magic ring and 6 dc's? Thank you❤
My bad not 6 dc's, but you get my drift 😅
Yes absolutely! You can start it however you wish! ❤️
Thank you 😊
Is the purple sweater the same as the colored one that is in the tutorial
Hi yes it's exactly the same except I used a chunky yarn in one colour. It's crazy how different the same pattern can look isn't it!
Yes it certainly is I love purple favorite color I will be giving this a go
How much of the yellow paintbox aran yarn did you used?
Hi sorry to sound thick but which size would be needed for a ladies 8/10
As it’s gonna be a gift I don’t wanna go and confront her with a tape measure 😜👍
Ha ha well it does depend in the bust measurement which would be an awkward conversation 😆 I'm an 8 to 10 and always make a size small but then I don't have much bust either! I'm not sure if that's much help for you! 😆
@@CraftandaCuppa ha ha that great thanks. She’s not blessed in the bust area either so I gonna give it a go xx 👍
Hi, I was just wondering if your sizing guide for this and the adult hexagon cardigan is UK or US please?
Hi the sizing is worldwide, it goes by your chest measurement, so if you can take (or know) that measurement then you go with the size closest to that measurement ❤️👍🏻
@@CraftandaCuppa thank you xx I made them both at random, not for me hehehe, I did xl for the jumper and l for the cardigan xx
What's the name of the brand of yarn and the color?
Hi the rainbow one is all paintbox simply aran but I'm not sure on colour names, I just grabbed a load of rainbow colours 🙈
Hi.. this is 4ply yarn?
You can use any yarn and any hook that you wish!! 💕
Why did my middle come undone
I have no idea! Did you weave your ends in securely?
You are way too far away from the camera and we cannot see anything that you were doing
As the garment is so big its too hard to get everything in the shot, that's why the camera is placed at that distance and also why I describe everything in detail. 🙂
I can clearly see everything
It's all very visible and detailed for me.
I could perfectly see everything. And I like how everything fitted in the shot, otherwise it would have been difficult to understand due to the shape of the garment.
💜
