Damn dude thanks a lot! this video is a godsend! I was racking my brains for hours searching for a cheat table and trying to figure it out how to create my own and that next scan, next scan solved all my problems. Now I no longer need to rely on other people making cheat tables for me. Like!

Good old times, I was messing with cheat engine in online poker games for $$$, it worked pretty well.
It still works nowdays in GTA V online for example [ YOU CAN GET BANNED ].
But it's pretty fun to mess with it, good old cheat engine, never gets old.

At the bottom of the screen above the red x thing there is a check box for pause the game while scanning. This does as it says on the tin, it will halt the game process from running and then scan memory while the game is frozen. good for games that don't have pause menus... or pause menus that don't actually pause things. But yes, some games or programs will detect they are frozen and may try to sudoku them selves, so it's a double edge sword.
Also yeah this is a good basic tutorial. You may run into an issue where you only edited the value in the hud not the actual value as it may not be rounded for eg. So you will need to find a pointer for that memory to find out what memory address wrights to the hud and edit that instead.
but yeah overall good basic tutorial. I'm just rusty and forgot how all of this worked...

Even though this video is a year old it's still very helpful. Had a question though, what do you look for in games that don't use a health counter? For example COD or tomb raider, they rely on visual prompts i.e. the screen just gets more bloodier or goes gray indicating near death.

Search for unknown value, and decreased value or increased value for the next scans based on whether the visuals make it look like you've lost more health or recovered health. Keep repeating the process until you've narrowed it down to a few search results, look for the ones that seem most likely to work and try freezing them when you're at full health. If freezing one of them keeps you from dying, that's the correct one.
The variable type is probably going to be either 4 Bytes or Float (sometimes it's Double but I've rarely seen that used outside of Flash games).

THANK YOU. This actually worked for me. Just keep in mind for some currencies, you have to buy or sell and item to get teh new value to show up.
It's quite sad that the previous versions of Cheat Engine worked just fine and didn't cause any issues and now this new 7.4 loads a whole bunch of friendly adware and malware onto your computer. DO NOT INSTALL VERSION 7.4 OF CHEAT ENGINE. INSTALLING PREVIOUS VERSIONS MAY OR MAY NOT BE HARMFUL AS WELL.
Edit: Looks like I was wrong about Cheat Engine. It's fine. I tested it on a VM then downloaded it on my main computer. Just make sure to decline everything in that adware-ridden downloader.

but for some reason the "Next scan" shows 0 addresses
and even wierder, when I typed in the same new value as a new scan, it shows a different amount of addressess
any idea what's going on???
(It's on a diff game, btw)
Sample Real Case:
Money now: 500
(Typed in 500 as First Scan -> it shows 10 Addresses)
Bought sth
Money then: 400
(Typed in 400 then hit next scan -> it shows 0 addresses)
(Clicked new scan, then typed in 400, then hit First scan -> It shows 25 addresses)
It finds various numbers that happen to be 500 at the moment of the first scan.
The most likely reason why this fails is that the game stores money in a different format. Try float or double or - if you can handle the ram/cache or the game is small enough - value type: all

I own DQ11 on Steam. Well, they released an updated version, called DQ11S, which has a lot more features, cosmetics, etc... The only problem, it's a whole new game file, and you cannot move your saves from the old game to the new game.
So, it's a JRPG, where my character was in the post-game content, and now I'm playing the new version, so ALLLLLLL that grinding went to waste. I just finished the regular game again, and now am looking at another 20+ levels of grinding again. NOPE, I'm going to grab my old characters XP value, and use cheat engine to import it to the new game.
And, to conclude the story, I followed your instructions, and successfully moved the XP over, made sure to not keep the XP locked, and now am playing from where I was in the old game. The game hasn't crashed, and has accepted the new values. Thank you so much for putting this out there!
I did subscribe and I was watching this video because I did think that I could do some cheats of my own.. Then I did realize that "Well wtf, I already do know how to use Cheat Engine." even though I havent opened it since I was like 14 or 15.. :D Maybe I'm gonna program my own trainer for various different games..

How would I find out where rpm is stored if its displayed only as a analog gauge? Im trying to get address for speed and rpm for Flat Out 2 game. I tried scanning in ranges (700 - 8000 )but so far no success :(

There is, but is basically impossible cuz udk wats the phisical value, therefore it's impossible to accurately know the hp u have, making it impossible to edit
@@DatBoi_TheGudBIAS correction you can "guess" by finding unknown initial value and go up or down from there the issue here is that you need to have a time where said value isnt changing so you can search for value has not changed

Depends on the game but it may break the game
3 options: crash (most possible outcome)
Break game (maybe u die in 1 shot, maybe 1 hit will overflow ur life and set it to like -1)
It work (less probably outcome)
Hi! The tutorial was really fair. I just have a issue with my games system not having a health system (its a horror game btw).
But there is a item in the game that has a value meter.
Could there possibly be perhaps nocliping in cheat engine?

use x64 debug, it changes code
Search 'unknown initial value', then change the value in the game, if you increase, then search 'increase value', if decrease, then search 'decrease value'. Sometimes don't change the value, then search 'unchanged value'. Eventually, you'll whittle it down to 5-20 results. It varies from game to game. Like in Wartales, I had to change to 4 bytes. Some games are straight forward. Mechwarrior was easy.

@@bigchungus14hvh12 In some games it is impossible to do this because in some multiplayer games your game value is stored in a log witch is always updating and when it detects that your value has changed from a different source other than the game it will reset the value back to the value the log has stored it will change it back to the original value.

awesome video. how do you save the values once you have found them and to be able to login into the game the next day without having to restart the processes
To do so you need the pointer for that address. All the addresses are located dynamically in your memory as you might already notice. (Every time you start the game, your old address no longer holds the values you found earlier...)= dynamically located. If you're still interested then search YT or else for "finding pointers with Cheat Engine" it's more advanced, but once you got it, is it very easy.

I have a question about using a cheat engine. I have been trying to use a cheat engine on a certain game, for Devil May Cry. I am trying to edit the character health to 1 hp using a cheat engine. I know what the number value is for when Health is full, but only with a fully upgraded health bar. Currently in the game, I don't have the health bar fully upgraded, but tried to plug in the value for 1 hp in the area where I can change the value for the amount of health I have. The cheat engine I am using is one someone else made, so the default value for full health is with the fully upgraded health bar. So I tried to edit that value to 1 hp anyway, but this does not seem to work. I have tried asking around in other places already. What might I be doing wrong?
When u can't see the phisical value, it turns much harder to edit it, maybe u can find some software that reveals the hp points u have in ur game?

I'm doing what you do, typing "first scan" and then a few times "next scan", and when the value changes, i write it and i click again "next scan" and nothing is found. So, it doesn't work

I have a question. Can a Cheat engine be used to increase the damage your players does. Can you increase the damage 5%, 20%, 50% or 100% so your player can have the advantage in battle to make it look inconspicuous. Like in a Multy Player war Game such as "War Trigger II" ?

Don't recccomend messing in online games (at least against players), u will end up banned, the servers normally watch the values, and a small floating might trigger them

Nice basic tutorial :) Most of these i knew though, but i am trying to hack a game and i don't know why but the game somehow feel that the value i set is incorrect even that the value changed ingame. It does not check from any online db afaik. Do you have any advice in how to change it in a bit deeper way? i know it's possible with stuff like finding out "what write to this adress" etc but i'm not sure what i need.... and how, without studying the complete basics for 40h xD thanks

Very useful video. Do you ever play VR games? I am asking because I have been trying to use Cheat Engine for Into the Radius VR. It is a VR shooter game. I have managed to cheat the amount of money I have for buying weapons but I wanted to try and cheat my gun into having infinite ammo. I cannot seem to get it to work. The machine pistol I am using has a 27 round clip size. I put in 27 and hit new scan and then first scan and of course it finds a lot of things. I then fire off a round and then put in 26 and hit next scan and it finds nothing. As a workaround I tried to just add lots of ammo to the ammo box I could buy but changing the number to more than the max ammo that the box holds just crashed the game.
There are various possible reasons.
The most common one is that you're using 4bytes (or whatever) but the ingame number is actually stored as a float or something for no reason at all.
The easiest solution is to use VALUE TYPE: ALL but this can cause additional slowdown and HDD/SSD use (see task manager performance tab) Depends on the RAM use of the game and total RAM available. Also more problematic when you search for 0 or 1 rather than higher numbers.
Alternatively try float and double.
Another possibility is that the game calculates ammo in an unexpected way, for example it might count backwards (1 bullet shot means value changes from 0 to 1) so you could try that.
An ugly possibility is that it calculates percentages (probably 0.0-1.0) of magazine/clip used.
And no I don't have VR gear but that doesn't make a difference when it comes to cheatengine.

How do I identify an objective or quest to mark it as complete?
The game I'm playing has an odd glitch where it's not registering that I've completed the task (it asks me to build a kitchen, I build the kitchen, it doesn't cross off). How do I tell it I've done the task?
Another game has a location locked, but that location is essential to completing a quest that allows me to access another location to complete another quest, which unlocks another location, blah blah, goes on a few times. There is no way to unlock this location from what I can tell, so I expect it's a glitch. Is there a way to unlock it using Cheat Engine?

Last time I used Cheat Engine was for a Facebook game, back in 2010-11.

Probably a float, search for 4000. If not sure, search for "all" types (if your RAM can take it, keep task manager open with performance tab on, stop cheatengine if it ends up using up more than all available ram)

Depends on the game, majority won't work, almost all will get a red flag and ban u
if it's a robot moderator, increase the value a "normal" amount with delay, if it's a human moderator, increase things that aren't suspicious to normal quantities
