Wardy this is a brilliant vid! The kinda info that'll make all the difference for us on our trip... that lighter gear means my kids are a chance at a big Barra too. Before I came up and saw you, I had no idea you could play it so light! So much more fun that way mate. cheers!
Thanks heaps mate. No doubt about it, especially from the drains, the barra have nowhere to go. I've landed metre plus fish on my flathead spin gear. 6lb line and 20lb leader. If you get time, watch my son Cody battle the biggest wild river barra I have ever seen on 6lb line. So good to see your kids catch fish like that.
@@wardysfishing9403 I loved that video. Watched it with a few others last night. Finally got some range and did a Weipa Fishing binge on ur channel. Damn good stuff in there Wardy ;) I’m looking to downsize my gear for sure with that. Thanks 8
@@billyaitken1713 I hope it helps people get out and enjoy fishing as much as I do but if not, Im having a ball. Ne get to get out with you and Matty some time.
I was saying to him this morning that you were fairly gathering followers. I finally got myself a boat (Quinny 430 fishabout- not huge but I'm only towing with the new Suzuki Jimny) but it's more like days out on the water with the missus at the moment as it's all spanky new. I fabricated a cover for the anchorwell because a mate almost fell back into it when he was striking into a GT😂, the front end's a bit more 'fishing friendly' now.
@@billyaitken1713 Nice. Its bigger than my boat mate. You'll have to keep me posted on the fishing. And get that brother of mine out on the water for sure.
G'day Nick. This video was shot in the Embley. Where the Hey starts and the Embley makes a sharp left turn, the mud flats in the Embley drain on the western side and that is my preferred spot. BUT..... there is always a BUT. It depends on the tides., This spot works well at around 0.8m to 0.5m low. Too low and it seems to not be as good., Too high and the drains are too deep and they don't fire. For that reason, I have drains that I like to fish at various tide heights. In summer when the tides during the day rarely get lower than 1.5m, I can fish drains in Andoon creek that drain the big salt marsh. Not a great drain to fish but when the low tide is 1.5m, there are not a lot of options. It is a case of spending some time on the water and working it all out. Great fishing though.
Love hearing your fantastic tips Wardy
Thanks Shaz. xxxxxx

Glad to see you're still charging hard 'Barra god'! Quality content sells itself, remember when you had only a handful of followers? 🤠👏👏👏👍
Good to hear from ya Billy. Yeah mate, it’s slowly growing but still heaps of fun.
Fun's the name of the game, no good adding content that you hate just coz it generates likes & subs.👍

Wardy do you have a favourite river system you like for fishing drains?

Very educational video Mate. The anticipation is building for our trip in September.
Careful putting your hand in the water. I heard there are crocodiles up there.
No crocs in April mate. That was May.
