Wardy puts rattles in soft plastic lures to the test by fishing with close mate Frenchy over a number of days to see if rattles really make a difference. Then the lures are tested to see if the rattle actually makes enough noise to attract fish. The results are surprising. Tested with Z Man Rattle-Snaker.

Every time I look at You Tube another of your videos I see and I just have to watch it love them I wish I could fish that well.
You are too kind mate. I am so glad you enjoy them though mate. Thanks heaps for the kind words. Wardy.
Sorry its Boston ha ha
Hey Boston. Hope you got something out of the video mate. Make sure you sing out next time you are up this way. Wardy.
Hey mate its wandy great info
Cheers Wandy, glad you liked it.
Gday, love the channel, lots of good info on the Weipa fishing scene. We're planning a trip up there next year for a few weeks, whats your thought on the best time to visit for offshore and estuary. My mate gets a bit seasick so looking to come when the winds are likely to be a bit friendlier! The fishing looks incredible. Cheers.
That’s a hard one. The best time for no wind is the wet season just after the rain in the afternoon. It usually glasses out. But in the dry season when everyone visits, it’s just the luck of the draw unfortunately. If you’re here for a few weeks you’ll get your good days for sure.
Hi Mate wish I had caught up with you when we were in Weipa earlier in the year, I had a go at some of these areas, but the weather was not my friend. I don't know when or if I will get back there I hope so, have a great Christmas and a joyful New year.
Thanks mate. Tricky place to fish if you don’t know it. Make sure you do catch up if you’re back again.
Hello, is it used for aggressive fish or for all types of fish, for example Barbus grypus?
I use it on aggressive fish but when they are shut down or slow to bite.
Hey wardy have you tried using chasebaits vibes for fingermark??
Sounds like great knowledge from experience! Thanks for sharing!👊😇✌️🇭🇲
Thanks mate.
The American pro's say the opposite to what Australians say. They say the low's are the mickey for fishing and the High's mean they really need to finesse fish and they've been doing it longer than us 👍
Isn't that interesting. Might be something in that.
Thanks for sharing all those years of knowledge you have collected. Given me great insight to give the Wenlock float a go one day.
My pleasure mate. Hope you make the float.
How’s the hookup rate with the single treble? Did you upgrade the one from the pack?
G'day Potatoes. We didn't upgrade the trebles but if I was in a dam full of metre long fish, I would. We needed that sinker on the nose but that was about all. Hook up rate is average. It is good on barra because they suck them down but no so good on fish like mangrove jack that like to crunch down.
@@wardysfishing9403 good stuff. I literally just bought the 7 inch version today to test up in the brissy river under the city lights for jew and threadys. Barra aren’t unheard of either (may have better luck targeting unicorns though). I like the videos, keep up the good work!
Hey mate, looks the goods. You mentioned rolling a swag out on the deck… any idea on the internal measurement from cast deck to inside of transom? Love your work
G'day mate. Late reply so sorry about that but it is just a tiny bit over two metres. Perfect for rolling out a swag.
Mate... Whats the length of that rod? Looks sooooo good! I would love to know 😊
Great video mate! I also agree fish can be quite a tive with low barometer.
Knockin Tail Lures are swimbaits that come with rattles built into the tail!
I just checked them out online. Haven't seen or heard of them here in Australia but they look amazing.
I am Bangladeshi please help you❤❤
Great video wardy!
Thanks mate. Heaps of fun filming this one with Sam. Glad you enjoyed it mate.
How many days from Moreton to Billy’s is it Wardy? If you’re taking your time and fishing? Cheers
And what’s the river height that is optimal mate?
Gday mate. We did 6 days this year but 5 is very slow as well. But I enjoyed 6 days more. Optimal height at Moreton is 2.8m on the BOM river height reading. We didn’t once as low as 2.1 and that was ok but lots of walking. We also did it at 3.6 and river was too fast. I’d prefer too slow than too fast.
Croc slides, log jams, that is hardcore!
All part of the adventure Neil. You seem like the adventurous type. You'd be keen I'm sure.
Awesome Ep and spots and trips and fish.
Thanks mate
Wardy. I watch you all the time. I love the cape and fishing. Don’t comment much because they don’t need it they are so good. This one is a beauty. Terrific tribute to the past and your mates. I’m not surprised yiur not making Oman’s for next year. Love your work.
Lovely to hear mate. Thanks so much.
Great video Wardy. Some good memories there for you both for sure. Loved the backing the boat clip.
She's a laugh mate. We scripted some of that but the funniest parts were the unscripted bits. But I am sure that every bloke that goes fishing with his misses can relate.
What flys, flyline and leader you using Wardy?
G'day mate. I just have the one fly rod so it is an all rounder. It is an 8 weight with 8 weight intermediate fly line so slow sinking. I use a tapered leader that I buy instead of make that is 15lb. I use a simple nail knot to attach it to the fly line. My preferred flys for up this way are the clousers. They have light lead balls for eyes and this makes them sit in the water nicely. I often just allow the fly to slowly sink and it gets hit on the drop so a clouser is perfect. When it comes to fly fishing I only know that basics but how much fun is it when a good fish on that long, soft rod? I love it. Wardy
Nice boat mate, how shallow can you get before hitting the bottom? Any idea what the draft is on the two sizes up? I’m fishing out of Aurukun, might see you about Caleb
Gday Caleb. It draws bugger. I can power through 60cms of water no problem and fish in half a metre. The bigger sizes would be similar but not 100% sure.
Very informative Wardy.
Thanks mate.
Great informative video😁👍
Glad you liked it mate. Wardy
Absolute legend 👏 🎉
Thanks mate. Great little sports fish.
thats a cracker of a tip, thankyou, i esp like how you can attach your bimini, sweet
great tips thanks
Thanks mate. Glad you got something out of it.
good info thanks
Thanks mate.
Cracking video mate thoroughly enjoyed that, braving those Crocs and hardships you guys deserve the good fish !!!!
Thanks mate. Awesome trip and worth all the effort.
Great video again, Mate. These videos get the blood pumping given that we will be there in about 7 weeks. I was just wondering if you could advise somewhere to leave the boat locked up while we head to the tip for about a week or so ?
@@80ZX how big is the boat and will in be ok stored in yard? I have a locked yard you can use if it isn’t too big.
@wardysfishing9403 it is a Quintrex 480 coast runner on single axle trailer. That would be amazing Mate. We would certainly be interested in chatting further and most certainly happy to pay storage. What is the best way to make contact?
No problem. Email me at wardysfishing@gmail.com
@@wardysfishing9403 cheers Mate.
Awesome bit of angling there mate, dreams are made from this stuff - well done !!!
I'd love to claim it as good angling skills mate but I got very very lucky. Thanks for the kind word mate. Wardy
Great video mate ( liked and Subbed) - what sticks and reels are you using for this type of fishing? cheers for the upload !!!
G'day mate. I use a rod in the 12-20lb weight or line class range. In the video I use a Daiwa rod. The reel is a Daiwa Certate but Penn, or Shimano or just a decent reel in the 4000 size is ideal. I use 20lb line and a 40lb leader. That is light for Tusk FIsh but easy to use and I prefer the light stuff. I just seem to catch more fish even though I loss the odd one. Hope that helps mate. Wardy
@@wardysfishing9403 thank you for the prompt reply and that helps heaps as I am looking at a Diawa Td Black Supacaster 5/10 kg and either a TD Black 3000 or 4000 leaning towards the 4000 but will see how the balance is , loving your videos - Cheers
@@warrensimpson9541 Perfect mate. You will pull them out with that gear for sure. Great combo. Wardy
Hi Mate, heading up your way, start September from Victoria, so a complete novice. What would be a couple of different go-to lures for up your way ?
If you are confident with soft plastics, just some small 4" grubs of prawns such as Gulp work well on the small but numerous drain barra. For the better fish in the snags, a barra lure such as the RMG Scorpion or Reidy's B52 are great. Just shallow diving lures in that style. Having a barra lure and a soft plastic will cover all bases. Good luck mate. Wardy
@wardysfishing9403 thanks Mate, appreciate the response. Looking forward to heading up there and exploring some new country. Very informative and entertaining videos Mate.
@@80ZX Thanks mate. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask. Happy to help.
@wardysfishing9403 might touch base mid August and get a road update if that's OK Mate.
@@80ZX With the road up here, the graders and road crews are constantly working on it. There is only 200klms of dirt left and it is nowhere near as bad as it used to be. The sections that are about to be redone will be bad and the sections just done will be great but overall, it is never too bad anymore. Wardy
Mmm.
Research is everything. Port Lihou or Longbeach would make more sense as fresh water could be gotten from locals who live there. I've stayed at both places several times in order to shoot deer and catch crabs.
I agree. We were also very exposed to the weather however, we had to get TO permission and we did, but that was where we were told we could camp.
I saw a couple called the boonies using these up at cape york and were catching fish on them.🤠👌🎣👍🤙✅️
They work very well. Jackel make suspending lures and real good ones but they dive too deep for the shallow water up here on the edges.
Are these a prototype ?
Not a prototype. These are available but I know they can be hard to find as most anglers like a floating lure.
Love this video mate
Why thank you so much sir. Wardy
As a beginner, been looking for this video for quite some time, finally found it! Great video!
Glad you got something out of it mate.
Awesome mate, love the ep.!Can’t wait for Wenlock 2024. It’d be a pleasure to join you guys for a trip👌🏽
Awesome thanks once again Wardy!! This was brilliant
Thanks heaps mate.
Great vid Wardy ,straight to the point & very informative you cleared up what 83kh & 200 kh means & does so thanks mate.
So glad you got something out of it mate. Cheers
Great to know that there’s plenty of places off the beaten track where a bit of walking effort reaps such rewards. Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Q. Is there a rule of thumb for how far away from the coast you have to be before Salty Crocodilians are not an issue? Cheers, Marty.
The term Saltwater Croc is a little misleading. To say the least. They are everywhere mate and these billabongs are a favourite little hangout.
That’s what I thought. You appear very relaxed at the water’s edge, I guess living up there you get to know the signs, subtle and obvious, that would put you on more alert?!
@@martyataube Plus a little complacency.
Hi Wardy can I catch worms in Corio Bay Geelong?
G'day mate. You won't catch beachworms there. The mangroves are all long gone so no blood worms so I guess the only worms in the area may be pink wrigglers. Being a Qlder, not my area of expertise but I do know the area you are talking about.
Thanks
What size weight you put on the front?
We just added a 00 sized sinker. Tiny but it was enough to pull the nose down. We are going to test the big 9" and see if that is better. Or worse. But needed the small sinker on the small Nessie.
@@wardysfishing9403 Thanks have these in order and came across your video last night so was curious have 5,7,9, ordered
Also seen people adding nail weights to them
@@Backwoods.country I have 7 and 9 on order as well. I will do a video and let you know how I find them up here.
@@Backwoods.country How is that done? pushing a nail through the plastic?
Loved the Video Mark heading up there soon I hope have given me some ideas so I might catch my first ever Bara or Toga
Best of luck mate. Let me know if you have any questions. I;m sure you;ll get your first of each.
