The doll is adorable and an amazing find. I also like the badge/pin and little glass bird. Thank you Drew for the history lesson. The jugs you have are beautiful.
Hi Carol! Those are our top three finds too! Can't find that exact eagle pin on the internet though.. 🤔We are glad you enjoyed Drew's stoneware history as well! (Just part of a much larger collection!) Thank you for watching and commenting! -Cathy & Drew 👋😃😎👍
That's just some of Drew's stoneware collection! 🙄 Drew has been collecting Boston stoneware for many years. He did a couple of videos about stoneware beer bottles too (still on our channel). Drew will be pleased to hear that you enjoyed the presentation! 🙂😎👍
Hi There! It was a slow start that day, and not one marble.. but look what we DID find! The doll and the eagle insignia are finds I will remember longer than most marbles. I really persevered and it paid off (by high tide). Glad you enjoyed the history! 😃😎👍
Received! I’m sorry I didn’t acknowledge. Walked a creek both days this weekend and I found 18 marbles and a couple broke ones. I talked about Cathy all weekend to my friend!! Thank you for sharing all your knowledge and wisdom.
O.k., thanks for letting me know cuz for some reason, I seem to end up in spam folders (even my own 🤣). I share what I know (marbles) but am still learning along the way! I do not consider myself an expert. Glad to hear of your finds over the weekend! We went out again Thursday, so another marble vid in the works (after part 2). Good luck out there, and stay safe! -Cathy 🙂
Hi Lisa! I expected marbles, found none. The doll was totally unexpected!! Glad you enjoyed Drew's pottery show & tell also! Drew loves stoneware! Thanks for watching and commenting! 👋😃😎👍
Hi Kristin! I love the doll too! I had set out to find marbles that day, and found none. But the doll and the eagle pin were finds I will remember for a long time. Uncovering her slowly was exciting!😃 And glad you enjoyed Drew's show & tell! Thanks for watching and commenting!💖
The depression glass glowed like a beauty. I really loved how you shaved the sand off from the side of the rock barrier and there she was! You found her. Thank you Drew for the history of the two potters from the late 1700s, its amazing the wealth of knowledge that the both of you have and share on your channel.
Hi Rita! The Depression glass... You will be seeing my glow shelf soon! We took video and photos of the set up, and then the filling of the shelf.. but it's not ready to post yet. As for the doll, we were about to give up on any great finds that day. We got there early, for low tide. Other people were at the low tide line, mudlarking as well. I had found some things near that wall before, so I gave it a shot. I was shocked to see that doll face, and then to find her whole! Another discarded treasure that no one has loved in 80 or more years! Oh what a time I had cleaning her.. THAT could have been a video, but it would have been very boring. I wanted to preserve as much original paint as possible, especially on the face. Glad you enjoyed Drew's show & tell of the potteries. Drew loves stoneware! So odd also that he found that piece of broken dish with stoneware Crocks on a shelf! More than just coincidence, as far as I'm concerned. But the first half of the day was cold, windy, and without many finds at all. We didn't think we were going to find enough for a video.. persistence paid off. Our "knowledge" is an ongoing process. Sometimes we know what things are.. sometimes we learn as we go! But Drew has been collecting Boston stoneware for decades. And we've both collected bottles since our youth. (We also have many excellent books on these subjects). Thank you for watching, (and chatting Lol) Always good to talk with you Rita! -Cathy 👋😃💖
Cathy I would have loved watching the process of you cleaning up that Doll. It would have been a true ASMR experience. I am getting real excited about "The Shelf"! That sand against the wall at the beach preserves those finds like that blue shaving cream bottle. Incredible. When you were shaving away the sand I thought to myself, "oh I wish I could give Cathy a paint brush" when you wete digging her out. It's passion and Love that you and Drew have for those finds. So lucky the algorithm recommended the channel. I am enjoying it so much just watching You and Drew's adventures. (That skeleton was a hoot!)
Yes, I should carry a paint brush with me when we go to beaches, or digging. I do think that stone wall protected things too. Well I'm glad you found us too! 😁💖
Thank you so much! A lot of work goes into making each video.. being out there finding stuff is the fun part! Thanks for watching and letting us know you like us! -Cathy & Drew 👋😃😎👍
Hello again Anastasia, You have very good taste! Those ovoid jugs on the mantle.. those are some of Drew's oldest and best pieces! Actually, there are a few more on the mantle we haven't shown yet. Drew bought those at auctions, years ago. I will read your comment to Drew tomorrow. He's asleep now. 🙂😴💖
@@massriverpickers Thank you. I have a few small pieces that I cherish and they have the same feeling to them that the Fenton ones have plus similar shapes. I am glad he gets to enjoy them and has the opportunity to share his knowledge about them. Thank you for posting the terrific videos and introducing me to your region and river.🙂
That baby was waiting for you Kathy! Well done on a great find! Thank you for the information on the potter Drew, filing it in my memory, you never know when we'll find one. Have a wonderful week you two, thank you for bringing us with you again. Great adventure!
Hi Julianne! Boy did I pick the right spot to kick some dirt around! (We did not bring shovels) I was content with finding that doll.. and just decided to pick up unsightly trash, when I saw the eagle pin!! I'm not sure which is the find of the day, but I loved uncovering that doll! 😃💖 Drew collects Boston stoneware.. (more where this came from Lol) Funny he found that piece of dish with stoneware Crocks on a shelf!! How appropriate! 👍
Thank you! That day started out slow for finds.. I didn't even realize that 🐥 was glass until we got home. The doll.. I couldn't resist the "we're a happy family" quote! Lol 😄 (none have arms, and one is just a head). I was totally shut out for marbles though... Sorry. I tried. 🙂😎👍
Hi Cathy and Drew, fab video. Your 'Boop' doll find is amazing and you did a wonderful job of cleaning her up! I love the Eagle badge, you deserved that for cleaning up the beach. Your stoneware collection is like nothing I have ever seen! Absolutely stunning! 😃💗 x
Hi Amanda! The doll was not easy to clean! I wanted to keep her original paint as much as possible, especially on the face (she still looks like she's just had chocolate milk or ice cream though Lol) And I thought I was done for the day, (after the doll and a couple of bottles) Then the eagle insignia!! 🦅 Dare I mention "no marbles?" I will remember that doll and eagle pin, longer than I would have remembered a marble. So happy to have rescued both of them! That's just SOME of Drew's stoneware! (I wish he would collect something smaller 😬🙄)
@@massriverpickers They are brilliant finds and worth missing out on a marble just this once lol. I can understand you wanting Drew to collect something smaller, they are huge but my goodness they are gorgeous! I would love to see what else you have. What would have been stored in them? 😁💗 x
Hi Amanda, I asked Drew what would have been in the jugs.. he said they could have held just about anything from water to wine, liquor, etc. No one thing in particular. 🙂💖
What a great day at the beach! Love the finds, especially the little doll. It's always nice when you include some of your collection:) Thanks for sharing:)
It was meant for you to find that baby, Cathy! I love the insignia. So many cool finds, the Barber dime, the baby bird, the Ingrams jar...! I can't wait to see your black light display. Excellent information on the pottery!❤
Hi Cynthia! It was really looking slim for a video that day.. the marble beach was a bust, except for my glass 🐥 and Drew's piece of dish with stoneware crocks on it! But the doll was a shocker! And I was "done looking" and was picking up some trash when I found the eagle pin! Just the beach saying "thank you"😁 My glow shelf is up! Still working on putting the video together. It looks great! 😯😎👍
OMGosh, Can’t believe that doll survived such a rough beach! I was stunned to see it come out whole and she cleaned up nice. Amazing to also find that military pin, wow. The little glass bird was cool, about as close to a marble you got that day!
Hi Susan! I'm amazed at the doll too! She was NOT easy to clean.. that mud is like clay and rust, and bisque is difficult to clean. I'm so glad she was rescued! The eagle pin was a bonus! But for hours we found very little. We had almost given up on doing a video! Yes, the glass 🐥 was all the "marble beach" had to offer. 💖
The duck is a cool find! Might as well be a whole doll, even with the arms missing. Hard to find whole like that in the environment. Drew's tutorial is WOW! 😮Very nice, thankyou for sharing! See you two on your next video...😊
I like the little glass 🐥 too. It was the closest I came to finding a marble.😄But I love the doll and the eagle pin.. I can say "okay" to not getting a marble that day. Drew will be pleased that his tutorial "wowed" you! 🙂😴💖

Hi Randy! We are just starting to warm up a bit here. (though you wouldn't know from this video) The wind was brutal that day! The doll and the eagle insignia pin were well worth the trip! The glass bird is cute too.🐥 The rivers are too high right now, so we've been going to the coast. Glad you enjoyed watching! Stay warm! -Cathy & Drew 👋😃😎👍🌞
I wish I could. The first time ever.. not even one marble at the "marble beach". Closest I got to a marble was the glass 🐥! (Which I do like💖) But the goal that day was to marble hunt, and it just goes to show how things sometimes work out, but not the way you expected. I am watching the river level at my "marble river". It's usually lowest spring to the end of May. So I do hope to go back there again too. I will not give up on marbles! 🧐💖
