Any adventure with you two is a lovely time, regardless of picking up anything. I can relate on the slow start of Spring. We have had 3 ft of snow in March, more than we had all winter! But our planting season is coming in May. I would love to see more from your garden again this year, Fleur! Thanks to you both!

I find that the bits and pieces connect us to people living in earlier ages. We find that the regular people went about their daily lives much as we do. I find that connection for me especially in handwork and in working with livestock. You also find that transcends the length and breadth of the world, then and now. Especially with sheep. And decorative work in clothing, bedding and household items. I love that connection with other women and herders.

My mom had dementia for a number of years before she passed away in 2018. She was able to remember who we were, but would ask over & over what day or time it was, where my boys (her two grandsons) were, etc. What the dementia stole from her was her appetite, which was what contributed to her death 9 days after her 88th birthday, 2 days after Mother's Day. The last day she was "with" us in mind and body was her birthday. I brought her balloons and flowers & her favorite DQ ice cream sundae (hot fudge with walnuts) and her grandsons were there. The next day, she started to what I term "check out" of life. She was still alive, but her mind & body were starting to shut down & she never spoke again after her birthday.

Congratulations on finding your raspberry prunt Fleur. Lovely find. We have a game of jacks here in the States, but it's played with metal star-shaped (or asterisk shaped) jacks and a rubber ball. You still have to pick up the jacks and catch the ball, but the bounciness makes it easier to accomplish than the way your jacks are played...almost feels like cheating doing it with the ball when I think about it, after seeing how you played it. 🙂🤭

My favorite find is that wood laundry peg!!
    Old wood,it tells a story,in the grain,in the shape,in the carved form.
If you ever are concerned about old wood deteriorating, boil it in beeswax.
    It’s true.
The air will be replaced with wax, wipe it off quickly,so as not to have a glazed finish,it will look perfect, and stabilized.
Get a pot,buy some wax pellets, and even a bit of parrafin, bring it to a healthy boil,it will work majick.
