  • I share how I re-pot kingianum-type Aussie dendrobium orchids. These types of dendrobiums have the species kingianum, speciosum, and tetragonum in their backgrounds.

I live in Queensland & have quite a few Den. kingianums plus speciosums. Where they naturally grow the winters are wet & cold. So we still lightly water thru winter but stop fertilizing in Autumn which should stop keikis forming. They are potted in bark mix which is very free draining.

Autumn would be your Spring, correct? So stop fertilizing in March?

I stop fertilising den. nobiles in May & any orchids that have stopped growing.

Great repotting video thanks for the tips! I have a Berry oda which I grow in semihydro. Have you ever tried them in semihydro?

I’ve grown nobile hybrids in S/H and I don’t like Dendrobiums in S/H because their fine roots make repotting a nightmare. Either you have to pot up because you can’t loosen any of the LECA or you are smashing the LECA against the ground.
