Janette, You featured many brands. I want to point out, I think that these days speed puzzling is taking the front stage since the world puzzling championship started to get live streamed every year and most puzzlers are investing time in training for them which leave them with trying Ravensburger puzzles a lot and this does not allow them to try more different brands. As a follower of your channel and other channels I feel like there is a lot of pull towards speed puzzling as a sport and casual puzzling is equally important but is being a little bit forgotten, which is a bit sad. I truly miss casual puzzling, it brings a lot of joy to watch content creators getting back into the groove of puzzling for fun without the timing. I enjoy your channel and Donnalouise channel and that is why I feel comfortable sharing my opinion on the topic of puzzles. Merry Christmas and a happy New Year 2025🎉😊
Thank you for this comment Laura! 🥰 I have to say that I couldn't agree with you more. I have noticed with myself that speed puzzling has taken over, so I made a plan to limit the amount of videos about speed puzzling for next year and other years to come. Obviously that will be difficult in the month when the Worlds are on (especially if I get sponsored to go to the competition), but the rest of the year it will be kept at minimum! 😉 Thank you again for feeling comfortable enough to share this with me, because it just proved something that I suspected and it helps me to keep my channel on the right tracks 🤗 Merry Christmas and happy New Year to you too!!! 🥰🥂
I always time it, but I don't rush it, I try to enjoy the game, and I watch (listen to) movies while playing. But all my puzzles are documented over time. That way, years later, I can find out which ones were easier or harder. I like 1000-piece puzzles, about 5-8 hours on average, and I'm also looking for more colorful, interesting, and special types. For example: Spiral puzzle Crazy puzzle Hiden shapes Funny cities Wooden Shaped
I agree with you. Puzzling has always been one of the most relaxing hobbies but I’m perplexed why it has become all about speed. Why would anyone want that stress? I would definitely burn out if I was racing the clock.
I just finished a Bepuzzled Classics "Grounds for Murder." A 1,000 piece mystery jigsaw puzzle. Good quality, thick pieces. No picture of the puzzle. Has a pamphlet with the murder mystery one needs to solve.
I fell in love with Blue Kazoo this year. I really enjoyed your puzzle reviews as it helps me decide which brands to try. Happy New Year, Janette! Here's to more puzzles in your future and more puzzle reviews for us.
Me too! 😍 I'm glad to hear that my video was useful to you! I hope you enjoy the new brands you try 😉 Happy New Year to you too!! And to many, many, many new puzzles 😂🥂
Happy new year from France ! Thank you for this great recap video which gives a lot of ideas for trying new brands. My parents offered me my first Educa puzzle for Christmas. Oops ! I'll give you my thoughts about the piece cut when I do it. I've also started a japanese 1000 pieces puzzle I was given many years ago. It is totally black, the pieces are tiny and all have the same traditional shape (2 in and 2 out). Plus, it's easy to have misfits and they don't hold together well. Lol. Anyway, have a great puzzling year ! I'll keep following your videos. All the best for you and your family !
Happy New Year to you too! 🤗 I'm glad you enjoyed the video! And I hope you'll enjoy Educa as well - as long as the picture is easy you should be fine 😉 OMG that black puzzle sounds like a nightmare 😅🙈 I wouldn't even start it 😂 Thank you and you too! 🤗
This is one of the best brand reviews I’ve seen on RUclips! It’s so packed with information. I loved the comparison pictures at the end with the pieces displayed. I also really appreciate when you do the price / value evaluations. Most puzzlers can’t regularly afford the highest priced brands and also it’s fair to a company if they have a lower prices brand and still provide an adequate quality. Thanks so much for all the hard work you’re putting into this channel. Happy New Year from Montreal.
Thank you so much! 🥰 I couldn't agree with you more - I am one of those puzzlers who can't just keep buying new puzzles, that's why I know that the price is just as important as the quality. Of course puzzles that cost 35€ are gonna be better quality compared to the one that cost 10€, but it's price to quality ratio that it's just as important 😊 Thank you again for your lovely comment! Happy New Year from Slovenia! 🤗🥂
Great recap video Janette! Look forward to seeing which brands you try in 2025. By the way I really love White Mountain puzzles, they mainly have collage style which I love. Another couple of brands to try would be Jacarou and Magnolia...very nice! Hope you had a Merry Christmas and wishing you the very best in 2025...Happy New Year 🥳🥳🥳
Thank you so much! 🤗 That's great to hear about White Mountain! It makes me wanna do it even more when I hear good reviews about it! 🤩 I have added both brands onto my list of brands to try out, so hopefully I'll get a chance to do them soon! 😊 Thank you and Happy New Year to you too! 😉🥂
Thank you Siobhán! 🤗 I'm glad to hear that! It always difficult to make reviews because everyone has different opinion on things, so it's nice to hear when someone agrees with anything I say 😅🙈 Happy New Year to you too! 🥰🥂
Trefl had so many complaints about the bags that they changed them with the newer puzzles!!! I don't have one yet, but I think they're paper now. The loud crinkly bags were ripping open in transit too! My 9000 disney one had 2 open bags when I got it. I'm so glad they changed them!
Oh I didn't realise that! Good info to have 😊👌🏻 I didn't have any issues so far, thankfully, but my friend said her bags were opened upon arrival too. So really great to hear that they changed that! 🤗
Brilliant video! Thank you so much for all the great reviews. I was curious, have you ever done any Trevell or Penny Puzzle - puzzles? My two favourite brands by far.
Trevell puzzles are really good quality plus the images are so pretty! They are a bit expensive so I buy them secondhand on Vinted mostly, but they are really a pleasure to do.😊
Thank you so much! 🤗 I have never done neither of them, but you're not the only person to recommend Trevell. I have added both of them on my list and hopefully I will get my hands on them! 🤩
I did a Schmidt and loved it... I would say a tad higher quality than Ravensburger.. still no poster.. no resealable bag... lots of Disney images which Im not a fan of but that is my only complaint..
Well it's difficult to be completely puzzle dust free, but I do like to hear that you enjoyed the brand! 😊 And yes, Schmidt puzzles are great! I'm sure you'd enjoy it! I have to agree with the poster though! I am doing the 6k puzzle now and I am in need of it!! 😅🙈
Hi! I'm just a Hungarian viewer (hi, neighbour!), not affiliated with the brand in any way, but there is a hungarian brand if you want to try a new brand next year (they started this year around April). It's called Pannon Puzzles, and it's quality is suspicously close to the Enjoy puzzles (I have all of the Pannon ones and 4 of the Enjoy ones). Same feel to it too (I think it's some kind of plastic coating in both cases). I don't know if they sell to Slovenia too, but I think it's worth a try. Note: if you try a painting-one, the big patches of "shades of colour" (like grass on a field) are basically one single colour unless you have the brightest daylight. Just a heads up. One of them almost ended me... Thanks for the videos this year too, Happy New Year! +) The difference between frenemies and nemesis: nemesis: something you hate because you are so different frenemy: something you like eventho you are so different At least I use them like this
Hi neighbour! Thank you so much for letting me know! I do love an Enjoy puzzle, so the fact that they're close in quality is definitely intriguing! Interesting to see your views on the various brands that you have tried. There are so many brands these days that it can be difficult to keep up with them. You can run the gamut between awful brands and top notch ones. It's only by trying lots of brands that you discover which ones you like best. Accessibility to brands also makes a difference. Not always easy to find sellers that carry a wide range of brands. Look forward to seeing what you get up to in 2025.
I absolutely agree with you! There are so many things that you have to take into account when rating the brands, such as quality, price and even accessibility! I didn't even think of that but you are so right! 🤩 It helps a lot when people comment their favourite brands as well, so it could prevent working through an awful brand 😅
The Trefl crinkle bag part made me laugh so much!!! I did the 9000 Disney in the summer and I think I woke up my husband four times opening and dumping those bags. The last bag I took outside and dumped it into a puzzle lid so I wouldn't wake him again. Otherwise great brand and amazing value - I'm hoping to get the Star Wars 13,500 to do summer 2025.
Hahahaha I'm glad you liked it! 😂😂 I completely understand haha! I will definitely chuck those bags away and put the puzzle into zip lock bags once I'm done with it! 😅 I absolutely agree about it being a great brand for an amazing value! I wish you luck with getting the Star Wars puzzle! 😉 I have one 13,500 on my wish list too - The Journey of Thousand Miles 😍
It's not bad, but it's not easy either. The difficulty is that even though it's 9x1500 pieces, the size of the picture is the same as the 1000 piece one, so the pieces are much smaller, and the details on some pieces are harder to see.
I already bought it. I recently did a similar 9,000-piece Marvel puzzle, it took 65 hours, but I've also done a 13,500-piece Marvel puzzle. That was much harder, 195 hours. Smaller pieces, hard to see details, but the nearby lamplight helps a lot.
@sybilwinfield538 yes I really love new york puzzle company as well. I really love the art - especially the magazine covers. Hmmm??? Maybe they're all covers? 😁😂🤣 I'd love to have their advent but $200. Ouch. Totally worth it though.

From what I've heard, brands can vary based on where they are being produced. So it's a possibility that Clementoni is one of these brands 😊 Thank you! 🤗 Pelo que ouvi, as marcas podem variar consoante o local onde são produzidas. Por isso é possível que a Clementoni seja uma dessas marcas 😊 Obrigada! 🤗
Schmidt has a very tight fit, i like it but you are right, you have to press a bit harder. I did a 3000 piece Schmidt puzzle from the 80's and i could pick it up very easily, which for such an old and big puzzle really suprised me. Other brands I like (that are not on your list yet) are Trevell and Magnolia, they are really good quality too.
It's definitely not as smooth to assemble as with some other brands, but like you said, it stays together really well! So it's all about the preferences 😊 Thank you for the recommendations, I will add them onto my list! 🤗
Grid cut must mean something different to you than me. To me, Grid/Ribbon cut means that all four corners of all pieces touch the corners of the adjacent pieces (like Ravensburger or Buffalo). What I say to describe what you mean is the "puzzle is all standard shape pieces" (two-in two-out).
Yes I thought that was the case!! Because I have been corrected many times and I didn't quite get what the difference was 😅 Thank you for clearing this up for me. I will do my best to say it right from now on! 😉
Yes, that's exactly the way I understand ribbon cut: the four corners meet exactly. For me that includes cuts where the rows and columns might be wavy rather than straight vertical and horizontal but I don't know if that's true for other people.
I am enjoying Schmidt as an alternative to the mighty Ravensburger as well. Just completed Schmidt's Bethlehem manger scene. Fit, finish and image was very high quality. And virtually no puzzle dust! Love Educa as well. Clementoni I find varied. Their 6,000 piece Las Vegas was fine but spoilt by a horizontal line right across width of image at centre where whole image top and bottom either side was misaligned. And Happy New Year for 2025.
I couldn't agree with you more! 😊 Educa is a tricky one for me, because I do like the quality of the puzzle but not a fan of the cut, so I am probably biased about it 😅🙈 With Clementoni I find it quite good, but I have never gone beyond 1500 pieces with the brand. So I guess with higher piece count, there can be a change in the quality too. I'm so sorry to hear about the misalignment! I hope it wasn't too bad 😬 Happy New Year to you too! 🤗🥂
Welcome to Graz, I guess. Being an expat is weird lol. I only did three brands this year Ravensburger, a Lake Bled puzzle by Prime 2D Puzzle, and I did a mystery puzzle I got for Christmas last year - without reference image - by Black Box Puzzle.
Thank you! 🤗 Oh you tried the Black Box Puzzle!! That's on my list, but I have too many puzzles in my collection so I banned myself from buying new ones 😅 I hope that the quality was good 😊
I don't know!! 😅🙈 I don't think I have ever tried any of the brands you've mentioned, but I have added them onto my list to try out! I hope I get to do them at some point 🤗 Thank you so much! Happy New Year 😍🥂
EeBoo is my favorite brand. I've done dozens of them and have dozens more on my to-do list. I try other brands, but just keep coming back to eeBoo. I like their images, their feel and that they use artists.
Eeboo is quite hard to get in Europe, same as Buffalo. I'm getting them second hand, because I love the pictures (colourful Eeboo ones, and the "Americana" style Buffalo), but they are stupid expensive, compared to European brands.
The Trefl prime bag is so loud because it is a different plastic, its biodegradable. So it is more ECO but the plastic is not as nice to touch. But I love their puzzles. Prime and normal. I also love the crazy shapes, hidden shapes, spiral...I will have to try the wooden one from them to see what that is like. :) In czech republic we have a lot of trefl, castorland, clementoni and ravensburger, not that many of the others. Everything else has to be over the internet.
I never knew that! But apparently they have now changed the bags and they're paper now 👀 I do love their puzzles too! Never done the crazy and hidden shapes, but I sure will if I stumble across them! I didn't know they had wooden puzzles too! 🤯 It seems like the brands really vary from country to country. We just recently got our first store with Trefl puzzles, sometime in 2024 and no Castorland for us 😅 We do get Schmidt though I guess because majority of our stuff comes from Germany anyway 😂🤷🏻♀️
The Laurence King puzzles seem to have uneven quality. I read that the ones manufactured in the Netherlands (rather than in China) are better so I purchased The World of Dracula only after confirming in the store that it had been manufactured in the Netherlands. It was delightful and is a favorite now. Thanks for the brands review and year of videos, Janette!
Oh yeah!! I heard that before and managed to forget it by the time I was doing the review 😅🙈 So the Netherlands is good!! I will keep that in mind if I stumble across one again! 🤗
@janetteandherpuzzles, Could you please keep the brand name you're talking about on the screen a bit longer? Ideally, it would be great if the brand name could stay visible the whole time you're discussing it. Sometimes it's easy to get distracted for just a moment and lose track of which brand is being discussed. Thank you!
Thank you for the comment. I didn't think of that an unfortunately I can't change it now. But I can make marks in the video so it'll be clear! I hope to remember do that for next year! 😅
Enjoy is one of my favorite because of your Autumn review I have done 2 from them, have you done an Art&Fable or a Pomegranate? Seasons Greetings to you all and the pup 🎄🐾
I absolutely love Enjoy! My friend just bought a puzzle from them because of me too! 😍 I have not done either of the brands - I would assume they're difficult to get in Europe, but I will add them onto my list! 🤗 Thank you Kay, and to you too! 🥰

Yes I agree, the amount of puzzledust in a Ravenburger puzzle is insane.
Hahaha yup 😅
I just finished a Bepuzzled Classics "Grounds for Murder." A 1,000 piece mystery jigsaw puzzle. Good quality, thick pieces. No picture of the puzzle. Has a pamphlet with the murder mystery one needs to solve.

I enjoy White Mountain puzzles, but they do have a bit of puzzle dust. Need to try and find a Schmidt puzzle. Happy New Year.
I did a Schmidt and loved it... I would say a tad higher quality than Ravensburger.. still no poster.. no resealable bag... lots of Disney images which Im not a fan of but that is my only complaint..
Schmidt is very nice! I prefer it over Ravensburger 🙌
+) The difference between frenemies and nemesis:
nemesis: something you hate because you are so different

Nem csak egyedül követed Magyarországról! 😜
Hi neighbour! Thank you so much for letting me know! I do love an Enjoy puzzle, so the fact that they're close in quality is definitely intriguing! Hungary is also not that far for me, so I could always go on a day trip and get some puzzles! 😅🙈 I have added the brand on my list and hopefully I'll get to do it in 2025! 🤗 And thanks for the side note! 👌🏻

Great video, you need to try New York Puzzle Company. Would love a 2024 blooper reel
@sybilwinfield538 yes I really love new york puzzle company as well. I really love the art - especially the magazine covers. Hmmm??? Maybe they're all covers? 😁😂🤣 I'd love to have their advent but $200. Ouch. Totally worth it though.

And you're in for a treat, because the blooper reel is coming out in a few hours 😅🙈
Great review - and great reminder to try new things!
Thank you! 😊
Hello Janette!
It would be great if you could show me your collection, how you store them, and how much you have!
Hey! The puzzle collection will be coming soon. It's the biggest and most difficult video of the year, so I'm building my courage to make it 😂😅 But you can expect it latest by the end of February 😉
Será que a clementoni daí é diferente daqui de Portugal? Aqui ela tem quase a mesma estabilidade que a da Educa. Amei seu vídeo ❤

EeBoo is my favorite brand. I've done dozens of them and have dozens more on my to-do list. I try other brands, but just keep coming back to eeBoo. I like their images, their feel and that they use artists.
@@ColleenFromknecht me tooooo!
Eeboo is quite hard to get in Europe, same as Buffalo. I'm getting them second hand, because I love the pictures (colourful Eeboo ones, and the "Americana" style Buffalo), but they are stupid expensive, compared to European brands.
Eeboo's pictures are so nice and I love the feel of the pieces, but I could do with a bit less gloss 😫 Always enjoyable to do though!
These are the best in Hungary, where I order from. Only Ravensburger is expensive, the rest are very good prices here.
I’ve heard the same thing. I have done the Frankenstein one, made in Netherlands, and it was fantastic!
I’ve got the Shakespeare one which is made in Netherlands, brilliant quality. I abandoned the Jane Austin one. It was awful quality, made in China.
Oh yeah!! I heard that before and managed to forget it by the time I was doing the review 😅🙈 So the Netherlands is good!! I will keep that in mind if I stumble across one again! 🤗
@janetteandherpuzzles,
Could you please keep the brand name you're talking about on the screen a bit longer?
Thank you Kay, and to you too! 🥰
