This song isn't necessarily about actual faces, but attitudes. If you're going to make an ugly face (have a certain attitude), if you're not careful it's bound to stay that way. That's why Watsky hopes one of the silly, funny faces sticks.
Not to argue with you but the chorus may be about that, I'm pretty sure the verses are just "hey I'm a good rapper, here are some silly words that rhyme." :)
I think we both know Watsky is not like that. Look at almost ANY other of his songs. All of them have some deeper meaning.
I don't know about that, Ninjas in Paris, gummy bear hundrednaire, Whoa Whoa Whoa, Difference is the Differences, most of those songs are just about him saying he's a good rapper. Not saying he doesn't have some very deeply personal songs like Send in the Sunshine, or Wounded Healer, or Tiny Glowing Screens. He just has a lot of goof off songs too.
Late to the game You're listening too superficial, then, in my opinion.
I haven't listened to Gummy Bear enough, but I can tell you WWW is about finding yourself and gaining self-confidence and competence. Sure, he shows off a bit, but that's all part of the message and song in this case.
Differences is about him establishing himself as a rapper who isn't like most other rappers.
Or maybe not. I could be just assuming there is a message and putting one that I feel fits best. That's the beauty of music.
