Yes maybe it’s too short but air drying won’t give you as much volume as you could get with diffusing. Also you could try out a mousse cause that gives your curls more volume

Leave the sides long and after you washed your hair in the shower you should apply either a leave-in (+ other styling products) or if you just want one product then just a curl creme. But you need to lock in the moisture

Lighter products is something like the manuka honey and yogurt leave in from Shea moisture

His hair is indeed 3a and 3b mixed, wavy hair is not anything like this and usually needs more length to show your "waves", Lance's hair is literally only about 10cm long if not 2 or 3cm more, his hair obviously looks curly, curly hair is not only type 4, it's important to dig down in details and avoiding those "false" examples you see on internet, I've seen 3b hair pictures with a person having 4a hair literally, clearly you guys don't know what you're talking about 😂
