I want to say that in all his videos, that’s the closest I’ve ever seen him get to the center of a tornado that destructive... and as I recall, he’s had a few close encounters!!!

I live in Oklahoma, went to school for Meteorology, and have seen hundreds of tornado videos. This is easily some of the best footage ever. LOVE what you do!!
I think it’s very calming also!! I have ptsd and the nights that I have issues sleeping I just play his videos and it helps me fall asleep and stay asleep💙
Thank you for addressing how a guy normally known for being cautious chose to get so damn close. I was slightly worried, but now am reassured that the man behind one of the best tornado intercepts ever is still a consummate professional!
Man, this gives such an amazing perspective on the actual size of a tornadic windfields in a super unique way! The video title is definitely spot on, just..wow! absolutely incredible!
I am AMAZED how nonchalant you were when a tornado was a block ahead of you “oh yeah that’s close” you sir are amazing. I would be honored to just being in the backseat for one of your storm chases.
As I was watching the twin EF-4s in Easter Sunday, I was thinking boy I hope Hank is getting this, and he was, more so saving the day than getting good footage.
which is why I was a tad bummed he wasn't in Jasper, TX for the mile wide wedge that hit that part of Texas, that hook echo traveled from Huntsville, TX all the way through Louisiana! I watched it on radar the whole time! Oh well, you can't be everywhere at once!
I was awestruck just watching this, I can't imagine how it felt to witness it in person! It's honestly the best footage I've seen, hands down. You're one of a kind, Hank.
I can't put into words how mind blowing this footage is. This is without a doubt one of, if not the most impressive tornado footage I have ever seen. Bless you, Hank.
It should be noted that this tornado resulted in two fatalities when a pickup truck was rolled off the road about 30 feet into a nearby field, which shows that even small, short-lived tornadoes like this one can be potentially deadly.
OH! You are so right. In fact, I asked Hank to do an ASMR video to help me go to sleep. I just love his voice, but I really love the sounds of the storms accompanied by the music he chooses to include with each video. It's that good!
That has got to be the best tornado footage I've ever seen. Between the part after it crosses the road by Walmart and he looks up directly into it, and the shot at the end with the rainbow. Congrats man, footage of a lifetime right here.
As I expected, the vehicle that the owner drives was not picked up by the tornado because of the excess weight applied onto the vehicle. if this weren't the case, then he would've been a little toy to the tornado.
OK Hank. You need to submit this to some hollywood guild somewhere and wait for awards cause this is better footage than anything that could ever be created by humans using animations. Quite frankly i was stunned at how well the video turned out considering the situations in which you had to capture it in. You got captured the dreams of some filmmakers/animators with the detail and the sheer gloriousness of the ripples in the clouds of dirt and dust combined with the quality and clearness of the video itself. I would absolutely see if you could get awards for this cause i would be surprised if you dont get at least 10 for this unreal footage.
Ok 10 rewards is a lot and you need to think that tornado movies have died down if anything he would get 1 to 3 awards like maybe back then this would get 10 rewards but in Hollywood right Idk but the video is amazing
@@gruntgamer4204 still amazing footage...it's unfortunate and sad that people died....but thats life. Footage of the Tianjin explosion in China a few years back was absolutely amazing. People died there. Something can be amazing and be sad at the same time.
Hank never ceases to amaze me with his Storytelling, Editing Capabilities It's almost like a Professional Chef making a Gourmet Meal. All of these ingredients put together to create something amazing, the music, scenery and Storytelling is just perfect. Never stop
The music was so sinister... The last shot of the tornado dropping with the rainbow is crazy!!!! It's almost like you knew how the story would end.....
Hank, you're videos are so inspiring. I'm an aspiring meteorologist and seeing this footage makes me more and more determined to hopefully help better understand, document, and predict these storms.
The man, the myth, the legend is back with more incredible content. Good luck out there this season. Hope you get some good storms and always stay safe!
December 16, 2019 me and my 16 year old twin sister where home alone in central Louisiana. My parents where at the Dallas airport picking up a friend. I knew there was a chance of tornadoes I didn't pay attention very much until my dog got scared ( she has been scared of storms ever since last summer when she got hurt) she started shaking and laying in the hallway. I knew something wasn't right so I checked the weather and I couldn't get it to work. This is at about noon now. A few minutes after I tried to check the weather my mom called from Texas asking if we knew we had a tornado warning at that it was on the ground near us. I told her no and immediately started getting in the hallway. I turned on the TV to watch the weather and immediately lost signal due to heavy rain and just as it got signal again the power went out. I eventually got the local weather station live feed on my phone and found out the tornado warning had been upgraded to a tornado emergency and that it was just a few miles from us. We were still in the hallway with all the dogs and I heard a loud noise it almost sounded like hard rain but it was kind of faint. So I asked my sister who was next to me to open the door to the bedroom nearest us and look out the window and see if it was raining really hard and she said no so I asked if it was wind and she no that there was only a very light wind not enough for the noise we where hearing. That is when I realized it was the iconic tornado sound and that it was getting closer. From the time I first heard the noise it was about 15-20 miles away and it got within 4 miles if you measure by road. After about an hour in the hallway with no A/C and no windows to create a good a air flow it was getting very hot especially because had pillows and blankets on top of us and big dogs. The tornado warning was lifted and we could finally leave the very hot hallway. The temperature had gone up about 20 degrees outside and was in the low 80's. At this point we found out a large tornado had gone through town just a few miles away and that it destroyed a school that was in session (it was part of a church also). Luckily the school had a plan but the teachers felt that it was unsafe for whatever reason and went in to the foyer of the church at the other end of the building. And a daycare next door decided they were unsafe and decided that they would disregard their plan and also head to the church. The two buildings they left were destroyed and the one they went into had some major damage but all kids and teachers walked away without a scratch and all three buildings have since been torn down. No one was killed in our town just caused a lot of damage. I found out being prepared is important but if your gut is telling you to do something like listen to a dog or disregard pre-approved plans it might just be worth it. I thought this we be a good place to share this. I have heard that tornado rumble since then and as mesmerizing as it is I don't want to hear it knowing that someone is probably being hurt by it PS: the power was out for 28 hours luckily we had a good set of propane burners and a love for off grid camping so the heat wasn't a problem.
I feel sorry for you.So happy you lived, come to a safe country like England or Australia.Dogs will come to a point to be braver with their owners.Alone is scary💙🤍❤️you are safe in our hearts❤️🤍💙
I've always been fascinated with tornadoes since I was a kid so this was absolutely incredible footage. I'm sure it was easier because it was a EF-2 but that still doesn't make it any less dangerous. Mother nature can bring incredible beauty with scary devastation just like that shot with the rainbow under the tornado. Like something out of The Wizard Of Oz. I'm in Cali so I've never seen one in real life therefore I have to live vicariously through these videos. Thank you Hank for putting yourself out there to bring us these amazing videos.
PH has been Hollywood ready for years. Not sure why someone hasn’t snapped him up. I never watch the weather channel’s videos. You can’t! His videos are so much more interesting than most movies. I love his compassion.
Hey Pecos, I'm from Ireland and tornadoes are something I always have wanted to see, and by you putting together these phenomenal videos of amazing tornadoes and thunderstorms as well as beautiful wild animals is the best thing you could do for someone who's really into storms etc. Amazing Video!!
@Just Me Oh wow haha I mean even in Ireland over the summer there can be the odd day where you'd get thunder and lightning. I was very lucky to see a massive bolt of lightning flash across the sky!
@@bowbear1048 I would love to see one from a safe distance because I think they're pretty cool but I know that they do cause severe destruction and can change lives forever. So I am aware but at them same time they're something I believe are worth seeing at least once in your life
spagbowl I live in FL, I fear tornados more than hurricanes. Tornados are amazing to see (I’ve never seen one in person though) but the destruction they leave behind is incredibly heartbreaking. I served on a disaster relief team back in April 2011 when a massive tornado ripped through Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Man stopped by our feeding spot, he was Army National Guard who lived in town in between Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, he said as they flew to Tuscaloosa they could see the tornado’s path. It ripped through Tuscaloosa, picked itself up (sparing his town) and dropped back down to then rip through Birmingham.
I never thought I'd be able to relax and sleep to tornado videos but your voice is just that good... Also you're the reason I got over my absolute terror of storms. So truly, thank you.
Hank is one great guy He takes care, gets brilliant footage, and helps whenever he’s about - this is special Beautiful images of the debris and the storm
I live in Oklahoma and there is something that has really been bothering me lately. I'm noticing cognitive dissonance so severe that people are completely oblivious to their surroundings and seem to be unable to react to hazardous situations, public interaction with others, or make proper and expedient decisions while driving. Not to hijack Hanks content because his work and narration are somehow comforting even when he's getting pelted with debris; but I think the overwhelming majority of people just driving nonchalantly with a tornado in plain view proves my point. It's like they don't even know it's there.
I mean your channel is immensely popular for a reason, but some of the footage here is unbelievable. Leading the way for this type of content. Really great stuff 🙏🏼
Same XD i dont know what's wrong with meh, oh ye I have a fear of high winds it's a phobia, you might have it to if you're scared of high or terrible winds
@X_𝘾𝙮𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙒𝙤𝙡𝙛_X I’m scared of wind too lol Though I don’t think I have any actual issue I just developed this fear of tornados even though I don’t even get them ever hahaha
On one hand I'm sitting here in awe of Hank's Moxie as he just sits there while a tornado rolls right past him and is so chill about it. On the other, I'm wondering what his wife is going to say when she sees that her husband just sat there and let a tornado roll right over his car! LOL
I've never seen a rainbow's arch so stretched out before. Its almost as impressive as your tornado capture... almost... Absurdly close proximity, clean and clear line of sight; all backlit by pure sunlight. Absolutely stunning work brother
That speed limit sign said 45 miles per hour, and the tornado looked like it was going at least 50. My point? The tornado should get a speeding ticket.
Once there was a tornado a mile away from my house, thankfully it didn’t hit our house. My friend was even luckier because she told me it was dangerously close to her house. Her house didn’t get hit but she had no power for three days. Thanks for listening to my little story (this happend a while ago btw) and god bless all the storm chaser who risk their lives for us
Holy mackerel, unless I’ve missed something, that has to be the most incredible video you’ve ever captured, Hank! But geez, scary close. I mean...talk about threading the needle! Just, wow,
I didn't notice. Good eye for detail. I go to the comments after a video to read what others seen and thought I might have missed the first view. The star spangled banner is the most beautiful flag in the world. Like the metal communications tower, it stood up well. I hope it stands for a very long time to come and our United States becomes united in common brotherhood again in our lifetime.
_O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave_ _O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?_ Tornadoes are such mysterious beasts of nature. It makes you think what the Native Americans thought each time they witnessed one.
Ok, this one genuinely had me shaking - that's the closest I've seen you go so far, or at least the clearest shot - congratulations on your footage, and making it out in one piece.
I think I can safely speak for everyone when I express my hope that Hank stays safe both from the CV and the tornadoes and that these videos are absolutely marvelous.
"oh it's close..." well that's an understatement you brave soul! i'd say you were silly to be so close f i didn't know how knowledgeable you are in this field. your footage is jaw dropping, my favorite videos on the entire internet. stay safe so you can keep creating amazing videography- its the best there is.
these same storms came and dropped an EF2 in my backyard quite literally. you can tell it was trying to set down because not 100yrds through the trees, my neighbors yard was 10x worse than ours and maybe a mile down the road it gets gnarly. glad to have come over to my grandfather needing my help with downed trees and branches than them both needing my help out of a destroyed trailer. it really does make you take a step back and realize what’s important and if it doesn’t give you more respect for what these storms can do something’s wrong with you. thank you for this footage! maybe after seeing this next time my nana will be hunkered down and not at the window watching the trees. “i never saw it!” suzie you woke up IN it.. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
If anyone was wondering, there was unfortunately one fatality at the Oklahoma Steel and Wire facility that was hit toward the end of the video. It was truck driver who was making a delivery to the facility and got out of his cab to seek shelter inside the building when the tornado hit. He was struck by debris and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
We had another person who lost his life just up the road in an intersection below J & I. A second was flown to Plano, TX , but is now out of intensive care. It came down on top of us @ J & I tearing up a few buildings, then tracked into town hitting the new Catholic Church & it's parsonage before continuing to OKS & W.
Not exaggerating, this could be the greatest footage taken of a tornado in human history, absolutely stunning with so much detail.

The amount of damage a tornado causes in just a few seconds is unbelievable.
Sometimes I forget the music in the background does NOT in fact come from the tornado
For some reason when I read this my automatic thought was a dubstep tornado
What music ;-;
The only reason his truck stayed on the ground was because of the weight of his large, pendulous, iron balls.

I have heard that tornado rumble since then and as mesmerizing as it is I don't want to hear it knowing that someone is probably being hurt by it
PS: the power was out for 28 hours luckily we had a good set of propane burners and a love for off grid camping so the heat wasn't a problem.

Thank you Hank for putting yourself out there to bring us these amazing videos.

spagbowl I live in FL, I fear tornados more than hurricanes.

No screaming no shouting just awe inspiring nature and art combined.
Only 51% of humans replace some type of action with screaming.
