I started milling our flour a year ago. Binge watched all of Sue Beckers videos, went to a get started class in May, bought the red book that gave me my first recipes and some wheat berries. Then I branched out and found your channel. I've only had fresh milled baked goods in our house since then. You said you were in your 20s when you started. I was 66. Always made bread and cakes and all the things with store bought, and love to bake, but had no idea I could do the things I do now with FMF. So I can testify it's never too early or in my case too late to make healthy, delicious food for your family. I've not bought any store bought flour since last year.
I'm almost into it a year now. I watched Sue Becker, and because of my health after a little battle with cancer. I jumped in with both feet. I'm still working on hubby to do all changes, but bread is happening
I started milling about 4 years ago. I started making my yeast loads when my husband first bought my Bosch Universal. Plus mixer 7 years ago so I start using King Arthur whole wheat flour and just thought my bread was good, I ,found a recipe that worked rqelly good using this flour and used this recipe for about 3 years. Then I found bread beckers and knew I wanted to start milling. Do my husband got me my mill for my birthday that year and some whole wheat berries, both hard red and white and soft white. But then I started having trouble with my recipe so I search and searched then I found you! I used your Simple Sandwich loaf recipe and about thr 3 or 4th try...i did it!!! The best loaf I ever made, Wow! Then I had to work better on my loaf shaping and that took about 6months. So. Now I found your 3 loaves recipe, this is what I use. Now my husband tells everyone I make the best bread. Thank you!
Thank you Mrs. Felicia for sharing your milling journey. It was super interesting. Your personality is so vibrant!! Just what I needed!! God bless you.
Thank you!!! I so appreciate your sharing and teaching about milling grains! I made your Oatmeal/whole grain cookies this morning. So very good and perfect cookies!!! Love them.
Mrs. Grit-I bought the Nutrimill Impact with your coupon. Thank you and Nutrimill for the discount. I am so enthusiastic learning this process. Does a single person NEED four loaves of bread in two weeks? No, but it's just so much fun to keep trying until I get what I'm looking for. So grateful for freezers. Bought a KBS bread machine and sent it back. I like the hands on approach much better. It's really so easy.
Started my journey almost 2 years ago! Your recipes have helped me so much and I’ve learned alot! Still learning…, I’m just so thankful that my children know what real bread is! Sue Beckers was super informative!
Sourdough is such a fun experimental adventure! They didn’t have commercial dry yeast in Yeshua’s day. I started with learning this and just bread baking. I think I’ve watched every sourdough video there is!! 🤪 Now I’ve purchased my grain mill and I’m so ready to get rid of the processed flours. I’m glad I found you - I love your spunk and I especially love all the research you’ve done for us. I’m a 67 yo RN and was never taught, nor never quite understood MTHFR. I don’t suffer from it but would like to help those who do, and help my sister who has gluten intolerance and fibromyalgia.
Felicia, this video was great. Thank you for sharing. After reading the labels on bread these days, I am compelled to start milling. Your channel proves much needed encouragement and technique. God bless you!
Been baking sourdough for two years this month, time to invest in a grain mill!! Thanks for the encouragement! Look forward to my bread tasting waaaaay better!
Your husband sounds like mine. In the beginning of our relationship I would get offended, but I quickly learned he never said anything out of meanness. It was always in love and encouragement. Poor man has eaten some food that bordered on actually being edible. He has always been honest about how it turned out/tasted and what he thought needed to be changed, ie: too salty, not enough seasoning, way to dense, too hard on the bottom, undercooked in the middle, etc. I learned he not only pushed me to be the best I could be, but gave me the freedom to figure it out bc I didn’t have to stress if I didn’t nail it. My fresh milled journey was a long winding road full of many hiccups. It’s amazing how big the learning curve is and how much different it is to cook with fresh milled grains. I’m beyond grateful for my husbands continued pressure to figure it out and willingness to let me fail so I could figure out what to do and finally nail it. The angels were signing at my house too the day I landed my first edible perfect loaf. Your channel has been a HUGE help. I’ve learned so much I wouldn’t know where to start. I’m 52 yrs old, I’ve been in the kitchen many years, but 4 years ago when I decided to mill my own grains, I felt like I had never been in the kitchen before. My kids were grown and gone, I had baked successfully since I was first married in 1999 and yet this journey was vastly different. It took me a couple of years to discover you tube. I had no idea you could find so much info on it. And as you were basically the only channel that solely focused on fresh milling grains, I kind of felt like a stalker bc I was binge watching you. lol. Thank you for putting yourself out there. It can’t be easy.
I have been milling my own grains for a year now! I haven’t had store bought flour in my house since. I found Bread Beckers and Annette Reeder and they helped me to get started. I really appreciate you so much for explaining the grains and showing me how to make so many recipes. Thank you!
Your videos encouraged me to start milling a few years back I cannot thank you enough for what you have taught us love to learn from you starting to experience with different grains now still working on my biscuits I need a small batch recipe of four or five biscuits I have tried cutting your recipe down but haven’t got my ratios just right any suggestions would be appreciated have a blessed night
I started milling flour three months ago after struggling for several years with severe stomach issues. Sue Becker, you ,and your channel changed my life. Thank you for helping me learn to bake real, healthy bread and make delicious food that allows me to resume a normal eating regime. Your recipes are wonderful.
It will soon be a year that I've been milling. My daughter-in-law gave me some sourdough starter and I was looking for some simple help with that. I came across Mary at the Rose Homestead who really simplified things for me, and she was milling flour. From her, I learned about Sue Becker. That's when the journey began for us. After learning from her, we purchased a Wondermill. I did ditch the sourdough for some time and just focused on learning to use the freshly milled flour. The game changer for me was when I recently purchased the Nutrimill Artiste mixer. I had really been struggling with the Kitchen Aid mixer and it was so frustrating. I have just picked up the sourdough again with wonderful results. Also, I'll give credit to Elly's Everday for help in simplifying the whole bread making process. I am newer to your channel, but also watched your reviews on mixers before making my choice. Thanks for sharing so we can all grow on this journey! Blessings!
I started milling about 4 years ago after moving to a new state! Thank you for your channel and your will to follow the Lord's leading. Sue Beckers do not eat the bread of idlness got me going as well 😊
Looking forward to your new venture into fmf and sourdough. The info online is overwhelming. I seem to do well with just replacing my regular sourdough recipes with fmf, being attentive to the feel of the dough. Using oiled hands to shape, etc, to not make the dough heavy by not adding too much flour.
I bought my Mockmill in 2022, and you were one of the first people I watched consistently to learn from, for milling. Your simple bread loaf was a fantastic find at the time. I def try to catch all your videos and this podcast when they're uploaded. TY for all of your work !
I can't wait to hear your health journey. I plan to get a mill soon. I have the money. I just keep talking myself out of it cause I give up real quick if things don't turn out, and I have not made bread successfully, even with dead flour.
Thank you so much for all of your teaching and sharing. I've just recently started milling my own grain and baking bread. Your simple loaf bread recipe is the reason I continued! I tried other recipes without success and almost gave up- until I tried yours. Thank you again and please keep sharing!!
I love this channel! I enjoyed hearing your story and the naturalness of this video! My path is somewhat different from yours, in that I had been, mostly, successfully baking bread for years. I started milling hard red wheat for bread with a KitchenAid stand mixer attachment in 2020. Sometimes my bread would not raise properly, but most of the time it did. Recently I bought a bread machine and raising isn’t an issue anymore, ever, because of the controlled environment in the bread machine. But, the instructions with it said to be careful with using home milled grain, because it could scratch the non-stick coating of the bread pan. So, I bought a WonderMill, because it does a much finer grind. It’s nice to see your WhisperMill in your videos, because I know that it is a well loved machine!
I'm glad to hear you're enjoying the channel! It sounds like you've really found your groove with milling and baking. The journey to perfect bread is always an adventure!
A friend found my Wonder Mill on Facebook Marketplace for $70 around Covid time. He was going to buy it whether I wanted it or not, but I did. I gave him $80 for his trouble! What a deal!! I ran out of Brown Rice Flour when making bread for a gluten intolerant relative and I bought brown rice and ground it. Worked GREAT!!! I love this grain mill, not the most expensive but works GREAT!!!
I found you about 3 yrs ago when I found Sue. But like you I started milling for my family before I knew about RUclips and I did search the web when hubby would let me get on his computer but I didn’t find much so I had to go to the library. I did eventually alter recipes until I got a prefect fluffy loaf. I started using a Magicbullet to grind then updated the MB to a 900 watt Nutribullet then later advanced to a Vitamix then finally hearing about the Nutrimill Classic… That is a game changer. I did later get the Harvest but gave that to a friend as I love my Classic. I enjoy your channel and all the information you put on your videos and your delivery makes you fun to watch… Thank you to you and your hubby and to your family for the time it takes you to create these videos. May our Heavenly Father bless and keep y’all safe.
I am also a year+ into home milling - after watching about 10hrs of Sue Becker….. my 12 year old loves it as well as my wife eating bread for the first time in more than a decade….. i do a mix of red and EinKorn….. and started recently putting Beef Tallow instead of oil…. For a hearty taste……. My little hack!!
Peter Sanatanello recently visited Louisiana Cajun country and visited a bakery called LeJeunes. They use pig lard to make their crusty french bread. Thank you sharing that the beef tallow works as well. Good to have options.
@ i use a sue becker recipe- its a honey/olive oil recipe - in order to get the einkorn to rise- I mix with hard red 50\50 and use the Tallow instead of the oil…. A bit heartier- i do soak the wet ingredients and add 2 yokes with the einkorn for an hour before i put it in the Yoshirushi- perfect crumb- soft and i salt it up pretty good….. about as close as i can get to soft warm sandwich bread…. Without any processing!!
TY for sharing... You, Sue, & others have been a godsend to me, too! I'm starting on SD now, too! I love the multi- use of the discard more than I do with making SD bread 😂😂😂 I'm about 6 months in & I thank God for GRAINS (and grit❤)!
Haha. I had to laugh when you said you didn’t know about milling your own grain until you were in your 20’s! I am 57 and have been milling a little over a year! You didn’t know about it until September 2023. 😂
It's been almost a year for me. First I came across Annette Reeder on Facebook, she talked about eating biblically and milling grains. I bought some wheat berries from the company I had been buying flour from since Covid, and bought a hand mill. I decided my Vitamix was easier. My daughter bought me a NutriMill Classic for Mother's Day. Then I took off! I love Sue Becker, and I follow the Rose Homestead (she had mentioned Sue Becker's book "The Essential Home-Ground Flour Book", which I bought) - and you! I love you all!! I usually bake bread once a week, and occasionally muffins, cookies, pancakes . . . Today I made my first rye bread with fresh milled rye and wheat. It's cooling as I speak. Smells divine!
Congratulations on 50k + 🎉🎊👏🏼. I have enjoyed this channel….i am a newbie on several fronts….new to fresh milled & sourdough & your channel. Looking forward to learning even more!
I appreciate you sharing your milling journey with us ❤I so enjoy your channel Thankyou ! I am 3 years into milling grains on my own journey, and I also am starting sourdough, so delicious!
Encouraging. A testimonial. I tried sourdough but gave up. Recently had some success with yeast bread. I hadn't been kneading long enough . I never got to the window pane stage. When I finally did, I realized this is like bubble gum, you have to chew it long enough until you can blow a good bubble. I am going to try sourdough again. Day one of starter last night. I want to get off of commercial yeast.
I’m so afraid of practicing with freshly ground wheat. Because if it fails I’ve just wasted all that food. Things are so expensive! Felisha you are a god send. God bless you.
I know it can be intimidating to get started and I 100% understand not wanting to waste money on groceries. But you CAN do this and just remember that it's not a waste if it didn't turn out well. Many times even if the bread didn't turn out perfect, it still tastes good :-) And each time, you learn how to improve next time!
I am so grateful for your channel. I found it about 3 years ago. I have learned so much from you. Where once I could not eat grains I found that if I grind my own wheat that I can once again consume breads and more without gut issues. I also feel like I have more energy etc. I binged most of Sue Beckers podcasts. I do have a separate question. What do you think of a sourdough proofer box? I found one on Amazon and was wondering how good they are. It is hard to regulate temperature in the house especially in the winter months when the house is colder. It takes my sourdough much longer to rise.
If you live in a place where it gets really cold and your house is cold, I would consider a proofer box. Breads need warm places to rise, and if you're having issues providing a consistent warm spot then a proofer box may be a great investment!
Look into ben Starrs easy sourdough in 10 minutes. No stretch n folds, no kneading, but a perfectly simple sourdough loaf, both boule and sandwich. Hes got an easy way to take care of the starter too! You might like it Mrs grains! Oh, and thanks for sharing your story! Looking forward to your healing and weight loss stories!🙂
Great story! Cant wait to hear more from you and your husband! Thank you for all of your videos and information and sharing your recipes for free. I hope you continue with all of this. Also, very glad you're passing on God's Word with the grains and The Bread of Life! John 6:35 New Living Translation (NLT) Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. I pray God's continued leading and blessings to you and yours.
You should focus on the grains that aren’t high on the glycemic index. I believe Einkorn is a good one. As far as the fresh milled grain having 40 of the 44 nutrients we need in a day, I’d like to know how much you should eat to achieve that as well. One slice, two slices, 3 servings a day? Maybe she can jump in here with some wisdom?
I started 4 days ago! I’ve been very ill, autoimmune, fibromyalgia, ibs, chronic fatigue, and more. This last go around with diverticulitis and the c diff (still on antibiotics) I could almost hear my body begging me to draw a line in the sand and get down to basics, like home made bread, fresh ground, healthy meats, in season fruits and vegetables, kombucha, sourdough…and help my body heal. And not just for me, for my family. So I spent about 5 days digging DEEP cleaning and organizing my kitchen so when I walk in it I’m ready to create healthy foods. It was exhausting in my condition, but I’m nearly always exhausted anyway and I’m not a quitter. I’m determined. I searched for a recipe and found your channel! I’m so glad I did. Thank you so much for sharing your story!! I can relate in tough living having been born and raised in Alaska during the homestead times. My first bread I tried was your easy whole wheat. I could NOT believe how light it was! Then it was suddenly gone, lol, and needed to start some more but didn’t have enough hard red. So I did 1/2 hard red, and split the other half between spelt and kamut. Was tasty! I’ve made your oatmeal spealt cookies and the ended up like biscuits. But still were delicious!! I’m happy to hear you’re going to tackle sourdough ❤ I was just telling my husband today, after just a few days I’m noticing I’m feeling hungry again. Normally I’m not or I’m nauseous. Then finally feel a tiny bit hungry. My appetite is coming back! I’m not sure what that means but I’d say the grains are positively affecting my digestion 😊 I also just started putting together millet, emmer, kamut, quinoa and rolled oats together and making a hot cereal with them. That’s actually making me hungry talking about it 😅 sorry for the long comment…but if you have been suffering as I have been and see ANY positive change it’s a BIG DEAL. I haven’t done anything except add a bunch of freshly milled whole grains into my diet for the last 4 days. Thanks for sharing all your experience with us, and loved how you included your husband and his part in it all too. Blessings 🙏🙏
So happy to hear about your improvement ,l have rheumatoid arthritis as well, cleaned my diet too, started to mill my grain started doing sourdough, ferments ,almost everything from scratch. Homemade bone/meat broth is great too. It makes such a difference in how you feel, the doctor suggested l could drop my medication altogether but l am too afraid, l am on a low dose though now.
@ thank you for sharing this. It’s encouraging to see other people making a health change and finding improvement and there’s symptoms. I I haven’t tried bone broth yet, thanks for sharing that because I do use broth a lot in soup.
Im new here ...well i have my mill bought and delivered, bought my organic grains but havent started YET..im used to making lots of bread but used regular flour and fattened myself right up. Im now been carnivore for 3 years but want my bread back. I grow pretty much everything but now only have 10 acres my daughter is handicapped and my husband was killed after 36 wonderful years. We have been on our own since. I have about 4o chickens, and 7 boer goats, and 10 guinny hens and 3cats that are mostly wild. 1 big baby 136lb. Rottweiler that wants to be a lap dog😮. IM READY...IM HAAPPY I RAN ACROSS YOUR CHANNEL😂😂❤❤
Do you have a video on ,how using fresh milled flour would probably work for most people who think they are gluten intolerant, but have never been diagnosed, and probably even some who have [ not saying everyone ,just some drs not so good] been diagnosed. I know so many people in my church who say they are intolerant to gluten ,but they buy flour from grocery which we all know is dead, and baked goods and I know everyone of them loves bread. But the bandwagon comes around and everyone jumps on no questions. I am trying to get them to watch your videos in a nice way. I am just wanting to know what videos would you suggest that I suggest to them ..thank you!!
I have a couple. Check these out and hopefully they'll be helpful! ruclips.net/video/2YB-fsv-cTE/видео.htmlsi=0ezcXCIJN0fLJA76 and ruclips.net/video/ksSEfI6hkWc/видео.htmlsi=R7Dhh6ukuh15ATyU
@@GrainsandGrit THANKS SOOO much!! I should have listened a couple minutes more, because then I caught it. Anyway, your channel has been tremendously helpful in my journey back to whole grains...THANK YOU!!!!! You are so practical and very easy to follow! ☺

Ive said the same thing, I'm just too lazy to deal with sourdough.
I can't wait for you to share your weight lose journey!!
And thanks to your efforts my family like many others have benefited from your service thank you thank you
It's my pleasure
I started with the Bread Becker’s 30 years ago. I still use the read cookbook, lol.
Keep up the good work young lady
I just got a grain mill off eBay! Excited for it to come!

My husband and I are both like that. If I or he doesn't like something, we say so. No reason to keep doing something no one wants.
That's what I been doing watching u tube bread making different recipes different ways and I got hooked on your channel
YAY!!
My husband enjoys the muffins I use your recipe muy rica thanks Gracias
De nada!
I enjoy your channel and all the information you put on your videos and your delivery makes you fun to watch…
Thank you to you and your hubby and to your family for the time it takes you to create these videos.
May our Heavenly Father bless and keep y’all safe.
Wow what a journey! You sound like you are a total bread baking pro!
Nice! I love the tallow from FatWorks: grainsandgrit.com/fatworks
Your channel is great. You do a great job sharing and teaching.
Thank you so much!
Fun to hear your story! ❤
Trying to go behind the scenes a little in this series for ya ;-)
TY for sharing... You, Sue, & others have been a godsend to me, too! I'm starting on SD now, too! I love the multi- use of the discard more than I do with making SD bread 😂😂😂
I'm about 6 months in & I thank God for GRAINS (and grit❤)!
Woo hoo!!!! I'm so thankful for the Grainie community that is now available :-)
Haha. I had to laugh when you said you didn’t know about milling your own grain until you were in your 20’s! I am 57 and have been milling a little over a year! You didn’t know about it until September 2023. 😂
Thank you! Very inspiring!❤
Love it!!! And rye bread is WONDERFUL!
Congratulations on 50k + 🎉🎊👏🏼. I have enjoyed this channel….i am a newbie on several fronts….new to fresh milled & sourdough & your channel. Looking forward to learning even more!
Thank you for being here!! I'm so glad you're enjoying the journey!
I love your story, thankyou for sharing❤
I appreciate you sharing your milling journey with us ❤I so enjoy your channel Thankyou ! I am 3 years into milling grains on my own journey, and I also am starting sourdough, so delicious!
Woo hoo!! So glad you are on your milling journey!
Sue Becker is how I got started also.
When i got married i lived in a trailer and still live in a trailer but on our own property and I used ti make the potato friendship bread
I still haven't got window pane ..... it's annoying
Don't sweat it
Thanks for sharing. My bread is a hit and miss. I won't quit but it gets frustrating.
You can do it!!!
@@GrainsandGrit Thank you!
Ah thanks so much! I'll have to check him out!
Amen and thank you so much for your kind words!
Sounds like you were determined to make your bread products from scratch. That was my plan as well. It has taken years to get the process down.
Yes it does take time, but it is SO worth it!
No bread products bought for over 2 years ago now.
Thank you
How much bread is a healthy amount to eat? Per day? Per week? Especially for a person who has higher sugars ..?
You should focus on the grains that aren’t high on the glycemic index. I believe Einkorn is a good one. As far as the fresh milled grain having 40 of the 44 nutrients we need in a day, I’d like to know how much you should eat to achieve that as well. One slice, two slices, 3 servings a day? Maybe she can jump in here with some wisdom?
NONE of the grains are high on the glycemic index if you consume them whole.
Jesus taught us to pray for our "daily bread."
@@ameliaultis3557You are welcome!
Welcome and so glad you are starting your milling journey!! And yayyy for another chicken-lover like me! :-)
I would love Spotify. I listen to podcasts while doing things and put my phone in my pocket. Hard to do with RUclips
Yes I will have to look in to see what all it takes to get it on other platforms! :-)
Now using commercial yeast, or not using commercial yeast.....SOOOO sorry, we can't tell which one....?
Still commercial yeast.
@@GrainsandGrit THANKS SOOO much!! I should have listened a couple minutes more, because then I caught it. Anyway, your channel has been tremendously helpful in my journey back to whole grains...THANK YOU!!!!! You are so practical and very easy to follow! ☺
Your thumbs up isnt working.
Oh weird, I have no idea why it wouldn't work. Maybe a RUclips gliche?
