I had the good fortune to spend sometime with Robert.I asked him what he tuned to?He said "I tune to my voice",sadly missed.
Your smile while you listen and explain the technique and style says it all.

Im inspired. Thanks for introducing many of us to hill country blues.
Your enthusiasm and expertise in this music is so outstanding,
I really like these lessons. This one is almost John Lee Hooker like. His explanation about hi technique is on an early recording called teaching the blues. It’s hard to follow as there is no actual pictures of him doing this, but he does talk about his thumb technique.
Another more modern player that uses this thumb and finger style is George Thorogood. He explains it like moving your hand sort of like opening a doorknob. He uses attack to achieve his pop and bell/like tone. He admits he studied the old blues guys and of course the great John Hammond.
These videos are super fun to watch, thank you.
Good stuff! Have been wanting to learn to play Burnside style. Keep up with the blues!
