I’m definitely excited for a sequel with Julie. She was unbelievable in this. Personally, I just assumed she was some assassin trying to take down the six seas. Maybe she had involvement in the past either being involved with or most likely a victim of they’re actions. Like you guys said, a basic storyline so they didn’t explain everything as necessary. Can’t wait for the next film. Hoping Iko’s Triple threat is gonna be good also.
In the movie ito said "MISI". I personally think that she is a member a special force which is probably equal to an actual military unit called "denjaka". They are a very secretive unit, it is said that each and every member of that unit is a savage beast. She is probably in a mission to investigate the triad. I am sure of it because she can easyly obtained explosive and guns which is hard to get in indoneisa.
Sadly triple threat is too girly compare to the Raid or the night come for us
There’s a deleted scene of Julie Estelle’s character that explains what her motives are but I guess it got deleted because of pacing issues but if you guys wanna see it, the video is in the Netflix RUclips channel
This movie is perfect to me. I feel like many critics were too harsh on this movie and were asking for too much. Nowadays people, esp. in America, want everything to be great in any kind of movie. You're one of the few reviewers I checked out so far who know what they're talking about. I really hope the sequels get a theatrical release. I really think my experience with this movie would have been greater that way.
This film had some of the most inventive kills ever. One of my favorite is death by cow femur.

Nah. Hannah Al Rasyid is Half Indonesian-Half British. Another fun facts, Hannah was a Pencak Silat Athlete and represents England, so she is a legit martial artist just like Iko and Joe. The funny thing was, she was moving from London to Indonesia because she was applying for the job in the United Nation but unfortunately she didn't got job.
I think, the Operator (Julie Estelle) is android from the future, her mission probably to destroy Seven Seas and the Triad. Her awkward speak, break her own finger with no pain, the weapon/technology she used, the mystery surrounding herself, and she beat Ito (Joe Taslim) very easily

Jullie Estelle here seems work for government. She's like an operative agent, that is why this character called by "The Operator". Her mission is take down the triad syndicate, exclusively the six seas. In the begining she want kill Ito (Joe Taslim). But she find out that Ito no longer works for the Triad and knowing that he seeks for redemption by saving the little girl. She turn the opposite, helping Ito noble agenda.
that actually a very plausible, the govt know it all along, to completely abolishing the Triad, it cannot be done using the usual way how the National Police should handling that, so, a very secretive, working behind the screen Govt's own "killing" squad were created for dealing for this kind of black operations, little wonder why the operator has a better knowledge regarding Triad's Lotus killing squad hierarcy , as well as the backgrounds of each Triad's Lotus members.. Being a Govt's own means that she enjoying a full supports from the other Govt agencies. very much explained how she can have access to what look like Govt's Military armoury ...

Finally! The Night Comes for Us (TNCFU) review from u guys! maaaan, almost a month!, i love the film so much and i really really want to know your thoughts about the movie coz i know how u both are connoisseurs for this beautiful lovely genre called the martial art action movie. Same with "The Raid 2", this film would also take multiple viewing until we can fully appreciate it fully (the acting, the dialogue, the story). I've watched it three times already, and always fall in love more with every viewing. And yes, Timo Tjahjanto (the director, the half part of the Mo Brothers) already confirmed there will be a sequel for it on his Twitter, with Julie Estelle taking the mantle as "the Operator" again, explaining more of the character's background. I truly can't imagine how the director is going to top TNCFU when it's already a well done film (in terms of action and creativity), i guess we'll see!, fingers crossed! (^ ^)

I WAS THE 83RD LIKE, I WAS BORN IN 83. METAL!!!!!!! This review is still my reaction seeing it 2 weeks ago, it blew my wig back so fucking hard I need to take a minute to revisit. There was soo much fantastic blood, gore, martial arts action I was shocked how much there was in it like you guys said I needed a breather...but fuck that the action scenes were unlike anything I ever seen before.....WHY WASN'T THIS RELEASED IN THEATRES at least for a week or two like SHIN GODZILLA? UGH...FANTASTIC review PHAT PHAMILY. I agree with everything you guys said, F the plot when everything else was so mind fucking blowing as it was. I was sitting on pins and needles waiting for your guys review of this AND OF COURSE the return of THE MOVIE DOJO. Asian Movie Enthusiast Talk to the sound designer, cause i heard peaking when Taslim shocks the guy. It was only on the Indonesian mix, he said it is Netflix stream. Hopefully we get a Blu Ray, but Netflix usually doesent do blu ray

@@Matt_Merritte_Edits That's cool! Have you contacted him via twitter, or how? This man had done truly fantastic job, really good sound effects! However, I've seen 2 little, weird things. One is propably Netflix's issue. In Indonesian audio, everything is okay, but in the Polish voice-over audio, there is one SFX missing (when Ito is struggling with the last bad guy with the pistol, he shoots, but there is no sound). Also, in apartament fight, you can see Fatih quickly slashing enemy two times and there is no SFX (you can see it there: ruclips.net/video/aQ7AppkumCY/видео.html ) Wonder, if it's on purpose, or if they forgot to add it.
Kubadzi The pistol sound is missing on all 3. When Ito is in the police truck. I messaged the director about that. I hope we get a blu ray.
Definitely The Raid series and perhaps this latest one are in my list of Indonesian favs!

You forgot to mention johan, the butcher. I think his acting is superb. If you want to know more about the operator, there is deleted scene released by netflix.
i love the performence of the lesbian assassin duo, it took me by surprise, since this is their action movie debut!
Dian Sastro (the piano wire girl) is known for her dramatic acting and have many main character role in Indonesian romance movies under her resume.
and Hannah Al Rasyid (the white haired one) is known for hosting music tv program and her comedic role in some TV sitcoms and movies.

Wow guys! Congrats for the revival of movie dojo! This has been a slow year for an action junkie fans, but I am glad because of this movie you guys come back and I have something to watch. I always enjoy watching your review!! I have been waiting patiently for Triple Threat for some time now, and I am sure you do too. Can't wait to see your review when it comes out.
So, Night comes for us. My opinion on this movie might be slightly different than you guys. Me, as an Indonesian, saw the acting and line delivery differently, simply because I am an Indonesian. I just know better at how Indonesian interact, so no wonder that I noticed things that are forced or unnatural. I still enjoy the movie. But... some parts of it left me with an itch. I feel like.. if only they could to this and that to make it better.. but then maybe it's just me. I felt the story line is the weakest part of the movie. Some dialogue and line delivery could have been better. I feel Joe Taslim as the main character got swallowed up by all of these colourful ragtags of supporting cast more interesting than him. The ending did not gave me a satisfying conclusion. But again maybe its just me. People see a movie differently depends on their own preference of how a perfect 'movie' should be. If this is indeed parts of a trilogy, I want to see some more backstory in the next movie, if they could managed to put it inside without interfering with the pacing.

FINALLY movie dojo! i agree we need more The Operator story to make her character become solid. and yes i really hope this gonna be trilogy to show all the rest six seas, there is a lot more scene that didnt make into the final cut. hope there will be director cuts version. i still think that "Epy Kusnandar" (the cult leader on the VHS2) is the part of six seas. they still keep it for the next sequel.

I agree that Hollywood blockbuster style action seldom mixes well with martial arts choreography. John Woo is arguably the only HK director to successfully make a crossover (a good run for over a decade until Paycheck). Hard Target was my first introduction to Woo as a young teen who was a major fan of Van Damme (still am). I immediately looked out for all of his HK films at Blockbuster/local mom and pop rentals after that. Opened my eyes to a whole other world of action cinema, which included Ringo Lam, Tsui Hark, Johnny To, Wong Kar-wai (during his action oriented days), etc.
@@ThatPhatSamuraiGuy7981 Van Damme was once the ambassador of East meets West action cinema (or vice versa). Hard Target was the best example of the crossover despite Bloodsport being my favorite of his. Bloodsport was to my generation was Enter the Dragon/Chinese Connection was to our forefathers. That's not to disregard Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, and Sammo Hung during that era. They made fantastic martial arts films. But Van Damme was the man who truly bridged the gap.
I believe everyone is happy, or rather relieved, with the way the love interest issue was resolved. I too was worried it would go the way you described.

Ito's ending is perfect by the way, resolutely honorable and absolutely bad ass and if you push your suspension of disbelieve a bit, it still leaves the character open to return in the next movie.

here my rundown of the movie background, Ito (Joe Taslim) was force to go to the triad because Bobby was selling drug which is triad market and he was about to get killed but Ito save him by coming to the triad, we all know that bobby not getting killed but he have to let his leg cut off, they didnt tell this in movie but this was my conclusion, Arian (Iko Uwais) was never needed to go to triad but he was going anyway, for 3 years Ito was killing for triad and promoted as 1 of the six seas while arian did not have ito luck but arian was the ambitious one and he was actually who hope to rise the rank, probably because he is not chinese. Before Ito gone to triad he was in romance with the girl I forgot the name, and when Ito gone the girl ended married 1 of Ito friend Fatih, that is why the girl tells fatih when Ito came to her.
And by the way Chien Wu (Sunny Pang) was not the leader of triad, he was one of the Six Seas, and the lesbian girl is in another organization which called Lotus, the triad have a leader which called Old Tiger, I do hope they cast Donnie Yen as the Old Tiger, when it is made

Your explanation is pretty good. I hate how the movie never explain that how Ito & Arian end up in the Triad. It just only a glimpse: when Ito said that he is in Triad because of WhiteBoyBobby and that's all. The action is brilliant but the plot is kinda convoluted. I hope the next sequel can have a better plot writing.
@@andryto8776 kinda connect the dot, when ito see how Bobby got no leg he was kind of shocked which mean bobby was fine when he left them, so I assume the leg was cut off after ito gone by no other than the triad which already have a beef with bobby, also somehow triad didnt have full grasp of the town market since somehow Yohan gang get the hold of the market, in which the cartel err i meant the triad actually also want to get rid of yohan gang.

The Night Comes For Us - Julie Estelle vs Two Assassins ...
The movie drops a lot of hints regarding Julie Estelle's character, I guess we meant to fill in the blanks. We know that she is well informed with all the details about everyone and what's happening, she has access to military grade assets, she speaks multiple languages, she seem to be on a mission even though she seem to have plenty of freedom on how to complete it as she sees fit, and we know that she's on the "good side" because although she first tried to assassinate Ito but once she learns he's now on the "good side" too, she decides to help. I think these point to some sort of super law enforcer, probably commissioned by some extra judicial government body.
Almost All cast members are Big Star in indonesia, even just a Cameo, but i can't watch this movie yet cause will remain me to The Raid 😁
i think julie is sent by an opposite triads to kill the six seas members, and when she finds out joe is gone rogue then she decided not to kill him. and even helped him perhaps because of the mother instinct to protect the kid

About my favorite Indonesian movie , well , there's is non actually , that's right , non !
But , since the raid movies comes out , the quality of Indonesian movie is rising up ! and finally I have my favorite Indonesian movies ,.
Thanks to Gareth Evans and all people with him doing all of that to change Indonesian film industry . Before the raid , Indonesian movies really bad, always stuck on a cheap & bad comedy movies and bad horror movies, sometimes drama movie , and again it's bad.
Not all of them , but most . And in that case , my trust on Indonesian movie is very low. But now , all of that has changed 🤘.
Because of the Raid movies everything is change here .
And now , a lot of foreign movie producers are racing to making a film in here (Indonesia) .
You will absolutely know Mr Phat about this man > Mario Kassar , yeah , the procuser of Rambo & Terminator movie are making movie here , he become the producer of Indonesian movie Called Foxtrot Six , you should check it out the trailer of that movie , looking cool 😁.

I liked all the characters because they showed how 1 choice can change the course of things like the Chinese boss said it himself u made that call and if u think about it all the characters we met made a choice in the film the Ex decided to leave and live the boys stayed loyal, Joe saved the girl for redemption, Iko (Arian) being too hungry for his position, Julie choosing to help Joe for her agenda?? Idk also shows how messed up and shady the triad scene is

I agree, I'll give it higher rate if they've done better with the storyline. Honestly, I also felt the child actor wasn't good enough, somehow I didn't feel connected to her.
And, I think you guys won't agree with me, in warehouse arc when ito fight with bunch of people, I missed this "chaotic" respond where everybody attacks at the same time. Asra Felicia Every movie he's gotten better. Compared to Headshot and before Killers, in Timo I believe.
I think since i understood bahasa quite well, the director already hinting some red thread for the sequel in this film. Especially about Julie's "the operator" part, the six seas story Julie told us. I have some expectation. This will be great, just hoping yayan ruhian will be in the sequel.

Just watched this movie - The Operator mentioned that she was hired to kill the Six Seas, then she needed to kill the one called ‘Old Tiger’. So it sounds like she was an assassin of some sort.
