I just got my R5 bundle with the brake mod and clutch pedal. It’s an upgrade from my G29. The difference is huge!! The amount of detail in driving is amazing. I would recommend this to anyone. Great value.
I've just upgaded from my G29 to a R5 with SRP pedals + mod from GT Omega and amazing how different it is massive improvement to my sim drive experience and highly recommend the change
Glad to hear it. Yeah it's a HUGE change and I want to be conscious not to OVER sell it to people because some people have unrealistic expectations for this level of equipment. Glad you're enjoying it
I'm a recent r5 bundle owner and I love it. It's a nice upgrade over my old t300. I'm from the UK and purchased it via gt omega and it arrived within 2 days. I aslo have the cm dash which is a nice addition. I have my wheel base slightly tilted and the view through the default wheel isnt perfect but useable. I do have the f1 wheel mod and this vastly improves the view to the cm dash, plus the f1 wheel mod feels better in response compared to the default wheel. I agree with the review about the pedals, I use the tlcm load cell pedals and this compliments the r5 nicely. This review is very good with very accurate information.
Thanks for the great comment! I try to review products as if I just bought them and own them. They are on my main (and only) rig and I use them for all my league racing. So I get to experience all the things that others experience too. Comments like yours give great credibility to my process. Obviously not everyone will always agree but I’d like to thank you for taking the time to react
Can you really feel the difference between the T300 and the r5? I'm considering buying it but don't know if it is worth it. how far away is the r5 to the t300 in detail in the force feedback? do you think the double price is justified?
I bought my r5 bundle about a month ago and it is works better than my g29 since then ive bought Mozas hgp shifter and handbrake and a CS wheel the clutch and brake performance kit is been very worth it i only paid $424 for the initial bundle at microcenter so glad i got it
About to buy this one as soon as I will be able to actually buy it. Seems like a great deal, first wheel for over 10 years. Hope it will be just as good as reviews say!
nice. newer CS wheels are less heavy than what I have but if you're used to better slew rates, you feel the lag. if you come from an older non DD wheelbase, the difference is still huge!
I am quite happy with my R5 bundle. Pedals have been replaced with sprints. stock pedals are placeholders. its a shame as they are very well made. another shame is the less than stellar performance with full sized wheels and in hind sight I would just buy a R9 and CS V2 if I had to do it again. also moza is VERY slow to ship if you order direct. I canceled both my orders after a week of waiting with no shipments.
Thank you. I was mulling over an R5 wheelbase only but was going to get the 305mm ES steering rim (I don't like the standard D-shaped ES wheel) and had concerns over whether the greater diameter would dull the wheelbase. I think I might wait for the R9v2 to come back into stock and pay the extra.
Recently got the R5 bundle to replace my T150 with T3PA pedals - its night and day how much better DD wheels are - I agree with you on the pedals though, I prefer my old T3PA BUT I do have the brake kit coming in a few weeks so hopefully thatll make the brake pedal more consitant and easier to use Also coming from a T150 its insane the little FFB details you get from a DD wheel - The driving is much more fun IMO and much easier to catch spins etc - I just wish I had a proper sim seat setup so I could make full use of the bundle PS for the UK Crew - I ordered my bundle from GTOMEGA and it arrived 2 days later
Just want to add to this, I purchased the same setup but instead I chose to buy them individually so I could get the srp pedals with the load cell. Doesn't come with the clutch I will add that later. The total came to $607 US with extra for shipping. Only down side is I'm still waiting on my ES wheel as they were apparently not available for domestic shipping.
I have a Thrustmaster TX with a Open Wheel Add-on and T3PM pedals and I just order the Moza R5 2 days ago. Bare in mind that I ordered the R5 not bundled, I bought the GS V2 steering wheel and the SR-P (non lite) pedals to complete it. It was out of stock where I orderer it so I'll have to wait almost a month or even more for it, the waiting is killing me! Can't wait! Ps. I didn't ordered it from your link because I am European and the taxes here are 23%! It would cost me 200 Euros more because of it plus shipping, I ordered from a local store that had the taxes already included in the price and the shipping is free.
Nice video I had sub. I’m waiting on mine from China. I didn’t realize I could’ve drove an hour up to Micro Center. It just picked one up smacking myself in the face. Look forward to some of your streaming.
Great Video. Great Review. And Great comments too. I was thinking about buy the Thrustmaster T300 RS GT but now i'm thinking to buy the Moza R5 (maybe individually with SRP Pedals.. about USD 130 more expensive buying separately).
Bought the bundle. Booted up Automobilista 2 (my #1 sim), started a race, got about 1/4 lap when the wheel turned hard left and put me in the wall. Glad I didn’t try the 8 nm! Returned it. I had high hopes, but now I’m back to my old rig.
Hi Laurence! Great, informative, and insightful video! Thank you! My R5 bundle with pedal upgrade should arrive in 2 days time (Amazon $499 USD). Brand new sim guy..but after diligent research, agree this will be a great bang for the buck entry level rig! Planning a GT Omega wheelstand mounting solution.
Thanks for the great / transparent review and specially not only for speaking about cons and pros but more for explaining the reason for it. I drive cars since almost 22 years and i could imagine how it feels having really bad pedals but with real life cars is different because they are mostly build either in very old or less expensive and powerful cars and you get used to it fast. But i cant imagine to have a gas or a break pedal from my first Skoda from 1984 which had no abs, pedals like for a traktor and put them in a 911 GT3 for example. Thumbs up. i have subscribed to the channel. Cheers mate!
Looks nice! Now I know Stu's secret weapon which keeps him awake while driving. BTW, you should work a little bit on your playback skills around 6:30 or sync, whatever you prefer 😜
I’m new to sim racing I don’t have a wheel set up yet but after watching reviews moza seems to be the best options though it’s not cheap but I believe in buying once and being done so ima save up for the r5 bundle meanwhile ima learn how the the in’s and outs of some racing I like to enjoy the journey and not rush through it 😎🤙🏾
I have had the t300rs gt for almost 7 years now and its starting to perform less good. So I was looking for an upgrade and here it is, hope to buy soon!
@@LaurenceDusoswa Yep i bought it and it is absolutely lovely, the pedals are much better compared to my previous ones so i love the whole bundle all together!
Having trying the Mozart R9 decided to get the Logitech Pro racing wheel. Just got my new wheel price came in about the same as R9 because of a coupon.
Looking forward to trying out this product. Word of advice to anyone who is thinking about ordering direct... DONT! It took them 4 weeks to simply ship my order and it will take another 10-22 buisiness days to recieve said order...

I think it’s hard to argue against the r5 when it’s in the discussion next to just about any belt or cog driven wheel it’s an obvious no brainier BUT I also think it’s obvious where corners are cut to make the price and I think it starts looking like it’s missing what makes a DD special or what did make them special in the past. 5nm just isn’t enough to truly display what a DD is all about in my opinion, the speed and potent nature of DDs will not be there. It’s also using a 15bit encoder which I think is extremely low resolution for the application… for context for those that may not know, that’s half the resolution of a fanatec csl dd which uses a 16bit encoder, surprised more reviewers dont mention this and do some finer examination on what that means, I bet if you move the wheel very slowly you could detect some delay in movement or slight dead zones, simagic uses 18bit encoders, Simucube and VRS are up at 22bit, Simucube ultimate is up at 24bit… unnecessarily high resolution but kind of highlights where moza are cutting corners here, 22bit is 4 million steps in one rotation, 16bit is around 65k steps, 15bit is half that again at 32k and a bit steps. 32k steps is still a lot in one rotation but I’d argue it’s starting to really take away what makes a DD great which accuracy was always one stand out. How much can we complain though when price is so reasonable, I don’t know but I do think we are quite a way off true DD experience here even if it’s always going to be technically superior to a Balt or cog, I mean doesn’t this come in cheaper than a Thrustmaster TGT, I think so right, this has to be a better buy than that.
While you are correct about the encoder specs, I purposely tend to not let those things influence my actual experience. Maybe I lack the expertise to notice the difference but unless I’m confident that I could tell the difference between 15bit and 24bit in a blind test, I feel like I have no right to cite it as a reason to or reason not to enjoy a product. There are many other far more tangible factors which impact my reviews. Luckily there are other reviewers who get deep into spec sheets but it just doesn’t interest me more than my actual driving experience. As you say, the price here is great but regardless of the price, I never had an issue with definition.
half the resolution of a 16 bit encoder is 8 not 15 for those Who don't know. The resolution difference between a 15 bit and 16 bit encoder is so small as to not be worth mentioning.
That’s incorrect OG. A bit is simply a placeholder for a 1 or 0. An extra bit means that the total has twice as many possible values, as it’s binary based. The same way in decimal an extra 0 gives 10 times the possible values. So the different between 15 bit and 16 but is 100%. However, whether a human can feel the difference on a 360 degree rotation is a whole other question :)
@@LaurenceDusoswa can you me or anyone else see the difference between 16 bits measured at 2N-1 equaling a 0.00001526 ratio and 15 bits measured at 2N-1 equalling a 0.00003052 ratio because that's what we are really talking about that's the difference Even at 2N the ratio stays the same
I can’t tell the difference. I was simply saying that 16 bit is double 15 bit after you said that 16 bit is double 8 bit. More complex maths isn’t going to change that fact :)
I bought this bundle a couple of weeks ago, moving from the logitech G923. I've got to say that the wheelbase is fantastic and I love it! It's great for dipping your toes in to DD if you're on a budget and want to get away from coginess of the belt/gear driven wheelbases. The pedals are only good for the bin imo. The logitech pedals are so much better but with them being proprietary to wheel. I went ahead and paired the R5 with the VRS DFP break and throttle set. Which are amazing btw! Loving this combo. I do want to upgrade to a stronger wheel base at the end of the year. More so for to have more dynamic range and bigger buffer. As opposed to having it set to stupidly high FFB. So I have been looking at the Simagic alpha and Simucube Pro. But I will be getting the Moza GS V2 before then. So I'm thinking now that staying with Moza eco system might be the smarter choice. Especially for my personal needs and get the R21 instead. I spend a lot of time away with work. Which means I'm moving my desk setup to and from work. Sticking with moza means I could keep the R5 at work and the R21 hooked up to aluminium profile rig at home. When I buy a solid rig too ofcourse. So less money I'd have to spend if I want race at both locations. Less things to lug about too ofcourse.
Wow you r5 owners are KILLING IT with these amazing comments! Another excellent comment here. The r21 is bound to be amazing. I love the r16 ffb. I think the r21 would be a great investment for you for all the reasons you mention. Nice choice on the pedals too. You seem like the type of person who is properly doing their research and making educated decisions. Talking about dynamic range and stuff like that. Comments like this make the effort I put into these videos worth it. Thank you.
PERFECT BUNDLE!!!! The vrs pedals are for me too, the only ones I plan to buy at the moment (csl v2 was the economical option). This set will already be very optimized, to go chase the clock
@@THESHADOW97139 for sure. When I moved to the R5 and VRS pedals. In my first evening of getting used to the new setup. I took over 2secs off my lap times! But not only did I smash my hotlap time. I could consistently race at a pace 2 seconds faster then I previously could. Consistency is super important imo. I'd argue more important then speed. This is something that's not always covered as to why having decent and solid rigs are important. They provide so much more consistency in your driving. Consistency will always improve your speed. Not the other way round.
@@BoosiveFPV You explained the situation very well!! I think I can take the step before the end of the year, but for the moment, I must first complete the upgrade of the pc😃
@@THESHADOW97139 yeh that's an important component too lol. I'm using a lenovo legion 5 gaming laptop atm. Hooked up to a 27 inch monitor. It runs acc well. I do want to stream though which is the bottleneck with this setup unfortunately. So I will look to get a desktop myself next year as well. Use that to race on and then solely use the lappy to stream with. Will get top performance then and won't lose any frames when I want to stream my racing.
yep shipping to the states isnt good about 200 for a base and wheel. it seem to be sold out at the us retailers. im thinking of getting the sim magic alpha mini but the wheels are pricey
As someone that has the R5 bundle on the way, I sort of figured I need to upgrade the pedals early on. I did also purchase the clutch and brake upgrade kit but I know I need load cell eventually. I guess the question is are the SRP pedals with load cell a decent upgrade or should I be looking at a different brand? The price point of them is good and I like the idea of having software that can control all my hardware with one single pane of glass.
Great review! I'm currently thinking about getting back to sim racing and buying this bundle. Coming from the Fanatec's CSR Forza wheel era so the upgrade would be huge from my point of view. You mentioned that pedals can also be used nicely on the floor. Was that with or without the brake performance kit?
Sorry for another comment buddy. Really like your reviews mate. Will you being doinga Moza R16/R21 v Simucube and the like comparison in the future? Would be great to see how they compare to the more established and renowned wheel bases.
@@LaurenceDusoswa that's brilliant news! Should make my and no doubt many others decisions, a lot easier. If they have already bought in to the Moza ecosystem. Thank you buddy 👌
looking to buy a DD oon enough, Moza has seemed like the obvious choice for a while but Fanatec have released the CSL DD for a similar price, there's the t818 from thrustmaster and the logitech pro for a little more. We finally have "affordable" direct drive options, and moza kickstarted the whole thing. (i know 600 odd quid is still a lot of money but it's night and day compared to a few years ago) thanks moza
Was gonna buy a G29. Originally a Fanatec but Fanatec after brexit seems to just now stop selling on UK directly. No other resellers to be found. But then I found MOZA on places like GT Omega and reputable PC parts Seller OC-UK. I might just pick the R5 instead of the G29.
Did you get it already? Thinking of buying my first wheel as well. Not sure whether I’ll just go ahead and get a DD or start with a G29. I’m worried about the noise on the Logitech.
@SirDream got it, even at 5nm it has torque for sure. It trades blows with the Fanatec P1. Way better than the g29. I tried Asseto corsa competition and iracing so far. What a blast! I just need to diy my gaming chair into a cockpit now. And on my too tired to play hard times. I just load ETS2 and do truck deliveries 😂
@SirDream just a heads up, if you are in the UK. The Similar Fanatec P1 bundle which has a better pedal set is on sale. From 549 euros to down to 399 euros. With German VAT if you buy within Europe. If you buy outside Europe or example You live in the U.K. It's 399 euros minus the German 19% VAT. So it's 399 x 0.19 = 75.81 euro 399-75.81 = you pay 323.19 euro no vat. Convert to UK pounds 323.19 euro is = 277.25 gbp Now apply UK 20% vat 277.25 x .20 = 55.45 So total for P1 bundle is = 277.25+55.45 332.7 GBP. With UPS delivery its usually £27 Germany to UK. 332.7 + 27 = £359.7 £359.70 for a P1 Bundle sale Which is what the Moza is competing with and Moza cost £528 AFAIK at the moment
@SirDream they changed the bundle kit. It was called Fanatec P1 bundle. Now the same kit is called Fanatec Read2Race bundle for PC and xbox. And it's on sale as the price I mentioned above. As long as your Internet connection knows its outside EU. It will automatically re adjust the price and it removes the German VAT if 19%. Direct competitor to Moza R5 bundle.
Does yours show the pedals are disconnected until you hit the gas or brake? Then it shows connected when I hit the gas. Drops within 1 second after letting go. Is that normal?

got a question cause you have a long term review..: whats about "clipping" at higher ffb´s? (80% or higher)? is there any? ------------and have i seen it right, the GS V2 has nearly the same weight as the ES Wheel? that would be interesting for the R5
the GS and FSR wheels are great on the R5. I wouldn't worry too much about a little bit of clipping, to be honest. when you hit a strong kerb, I'm not sure if feeling understeer will help much anyways :D
@@LaurenceDusoswa just wanna to get sure to have the full 5,5nm without any "serious" clipping...i dont mind little "clips" by taking a curb for example, thats ok to me. thanks anyways :-D
@@LaurenceDusoswa just because if you buy the csl dd 5nm and decide you need a little more power, you just need the boost power supply for 150€/$, and you get 8nm. With moza you have to sell the R5 base and buy the R9.
@@LaurenceDusoswaFanatec gives you option to upgrade to 8nm and it is also much cheaper in EU, because dd bundle costs €560 with table clamp and shipping where moza costs €579 + VAT(in Poland is 23%) + shipping.
@@mateuszzwierzchowski5295 With Fanatec being a UK company, of course the shipping for Brits and other EU countries would be a cheaper solution. However, in NA, we get shafted for shipping when it comes to Fanatec. The warranty doesn't work in our favor either.
I've been a happy G29 customer for the past 2 years and haven't felt the need to upgrade to DD, mainly because of the great pedals. But if I did want to upgrade, I'm curious if there's any better bundle out there int he $500-600 range over this Moza R5, or is the R5 still the best option? The fact that you mention the pedals aren't great and worse than the G29 pedals is making me think about other DD options
Sooo... as someone who is on a budget, do you think I should get the R5 + brake kit + formula mod for ~£640, or the R9 + GS + some second-hand load cell pedals for ~£1000? I can afford the latter, but would rather not have to, haha. I have an NLR Wheel Stand DD, which seems rock solid with my G29 on it, but I know that's not saying much at all.
Hello! In Windows 11, do you foresee any updates for the Steam platform compatibility with games like forza horizon 4, the crew 2, bus simulations etc? Thanks...
My GT Omega Titan cockpit is predrilled for fanatec and thrustmaster and Logitech. I should be able to attach the R5 as long as I only use 2 screws, is that right?
Turns out it's predrilled for R5 too (2023 Titan), I just had to use 2 of the included washers for the front bolts, as they were slightly too long for my plate (the back didn't need them because there are 2 layers of steel there). The pedals have holes for the front and back as well, but I didn't need the giant screws for the footplate because they're not needed for Titan.
Hi everyone,i am thinking to buy a direct drive wheel system. 1.Moza r5 bundle with sr-p lite break kit and f1 wheel mod. 2.Fanatec CSL DD (5nm) with mclaren gt3 v2 ,quick release adapter. What do you prefer? I heard that the r5 has some heating issues and in f1 game when you are cornering it loses some force feedback details. I am so much confused what to buy actually Drop your suggestions Thank you!
In the 5Nm bracket, I think the CSL DD wins. The steering wheels are far more interesting and functional. Once you get to 8Nm, I think the Fanatec is competing more with the R9 than the R5. Moza has beautiful round steering wheels but they're heavy so that impacts the force feedback a bit. I think I'd be happier with the Fanatec from a FFB point of view, but the Moza range (once you upgrade) has a lot more quality and satisfaction to it. That doesn’t really answer your question but I’m the 5Nm range, it has to be the Fanatec for me AND you can bump that up to 8Nm for super cheap when you can afford it.

After 8 months, Moza es steering wheel, pedal shifter, left pedal broke. The place that holds the pedal shaft is plastic, so it breaks. My research is in this direction. Different people on reddit have experienced the same problem. I am a victim of this situation. Even if I contact Moza in China, my cargo and steering set will be damaged.
Recently got the R5 bundle to replace my T150 with T3PA pedals - its night and day how much better DD wheels are - I agree with you on the pedals though, I prefer my old T3PA BUT I do have the brake kit coming in a few weeks so hopefully thatll make the brake pedal more consitant and easier to use
Also coming from a T150 its insane the little FFB details you get from a DD wheel - The driving is much more fun IMO and much easier to catch spins etc - I just wish I had a proper sim seat setup so I could make full use of the bundle
PS for the UK Crew - I ordered my bundle from GTOMEGA and it arrived 2 days later
Awesome great comment. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Lukcy you man. A Week later and I am still wiating for mine to arrive.
Just want to add to this, I purchased the same setup but instead I chose to buy them individually so I could get the srp pedals with the load cell. Doesn't come with the clutch I will add that later. The total came to $607 US with extra for shipping. Only down side is I'm still waiting on my ES wheel as they were apparently not available for domestic shipping.
nice one
AWESOME!!! Enjoy ❤️❤️❤️

A week ago upgraded from a g29 and it’s a brilliant decision
Awesome!!!
Bought the bundle. Booted up Automobilista 2 (my #1 sim), started a race, got about 1/4 lap when the wheel turned hard left and put me in the wall. Glad I didn’t try the 8 nm! Returned it. I had high hopes, but now I’m back to my old rig.
That’s really nowhere near enough time to get used to it or set it up correctly

Hi Laurence! Great, informative, and insightful video! Thank you! My R5 bundle with pedal upgrade should arrive in 2 days time (Amazon $499 USD). I just got mine in Switzerland from one shop here for 485$ limited deal ❤🎉 and its my first wheel. will be upgrade from controller.. cant wait !
NICE!!!
Great video dude good to see stuff like this as thinking to make the move to DD

The wheels are pricey yeah but also totally worth it
$529 and in stock at my local Micro Center. I might replace my G920.

I would get the Fanatec CSL elite v2 pedals
Great review! I'm currently thinking about getting back to sim racing and buying this bundle. Coming from the Fanatec's CSR Forza wheel era so the upgrade would be huge from my point of view. You mentioned that pedals can also be used nicely on the floor. Was that with or without the brake performance kit?
Sorry for another comment buddy. Really like your reviews mate.
Will you being doinga Moza R16/R21 v Simucube and the like comparison in the future? Would be great to see how they compare to the more established and renowned wheel bases.

It's a good buy, you'll love it
@SirDream got it, even at 5nm it has torque for sure.
So it's 399 x 0.19 = 75.81 euro
399-75.81 = you pay 323.19 euro no vat.
Convert to UK pounds 323.19 euro is = 277.25 gbp
Now apply UK 20% vat
277.25 x .20 = 55.45
So total for P1 bundle is = 277.25+55.45
332.7 GBP.
With UPS delivery its usually £27 Germany to UK.
332.7 + 27 = £359.7
£359.70 for a P1 Bundle sale
Which is what the Moza is competing with and Moza cost £528 AFAIK at the moment
@SirDream they changed the bundle kit. It was called Fanatec P1 bundle.
Now the same kit is called Fanatec Read2Race bundle for PC and xbox. And it's on sale as the price I mentioned above. As long as your Internet connection knows its outside EU. It will automatically re adjust the price and it removes the German VAT if 19%.
Direct competitor to Moza R5 bundle.

got a question cause you have a long term review..: whats about "clipping" at higher ffb´s? (80% or higher)? is there any? ------------and have i seen it right, the GS V2 has nearly the same weight as the ES Wheel? that would be interesting for the R5

V2 wheels working between R5 and R9.
One of the main reasons I got a R5 is simple...that it's NOT licensed with stupid consoles!

Im never had a sim racing set yet. Dumb question, that r5 can be combined to t-clm pedal?
Yes it can be combined with any other USB devices
Thanks bro.
I am so much confused what to buy actually
Drop your suggestions
Thank you!
CSL DD easily
It pisses me off that i cant even use it without an aftermarket... thing to make it work

It will not be good for me if I cannot play the game. Think twice when buying an ES steering wheel. I have used Logitech DFGT for 10 years and have never had any problems. Moza broke down in 8 months. I do not recommend it to anyone.
