Thank you for these tutorials. You have been such a great teacher for all of us. I appreciate the time and effort you have taken to share your talents.
Thank you. I was thinking of getting the Stellaire XJ1,but the more I see of your videos I am falling in love with the Luminnaire. Your explanations are so clear and easy to understand. Really appreciate the time you are taking. Thank you again.
I just purchased the Luminarie because of Ms Scott’s designs. You did an excellent job of explaining the process. I have a quilt I am getting ready to quilt. I bought the machine 2 days ago. The machine is unreal. Thanks for the tutorial, you do a great job.
I have used Amelie Scott designs on several quilts. They are fun and easy and look great. They are also a time savor for that quilt you need in a hurry. Now that I have a Luminaire using the camera will make it so much easier. Thanks Terry.
Terry, your tutorial was excellent. You are very thorough in your explanation of the steps. I appreciate your videos, they have helped me utilize the capabilities of my machines. Thank you for taking the time to make them.
Thank you so much for posting such a detailed tutorial on how to do edge to edge quilting. I've been wanting to do it, but was hesitant because I didn't feel confident enough to tackle it myself. Now, I feel like I can jump in with both feet. Thank you again.
Thanks Terry! I did a quilt for my granddaughter with the flowers. She loves it. I really enjoyed quilting it for her! I had the book for a few years and finally took a class and learned how to do it!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I was glad that I had already picked out the right book/designs (Amelie Scott) and had it onhand when I first found your video. I would have loved to know what to do when I have just enough unquilted space at the end and the whole design will go way past the end of the project, but I'll figure it out. Thanks again.
thank you so much for these tutorials, its like have our own personal teacher sitting right here in the sewing room, that we can replay, instead of asking you to repeat, lol.
Thank you so much for your great support especially the fact that you are such a good teacher and don’t drown out with loud music wish others would take you r advice
Thank you. I'm sending for Amalie's book, and the DVD too. Will be experimenting this technique. If it works as easy for me, maybe I'll consider selling my Juki 2200 with Grace frame. (That'll definitely free up quite a bit of space!) I hope that I can, but I don't know why every quilt I begin as twin or other size ends up being queen or king size. Hoping that I can do queen size on my Luminaire. Happy Thoughts!
I love your videos. I might have given up on my Lumi if it had been for your tutorials. Question: How do you fill in the space at the side and the bottom if you have borders.? Or if want to use a border design on the borders.? Do you quilt the center part before you put on the borders? I just realized that might be a dumb question!
You actually answered your question. When I take a large quilt to a professional Longarm quilter, they use the same continuous edge to edge design across the enter quilt including the borders. If you do not want to do this, you are going to have to start your stitching exactly along the border and stop it at the edge of a border.
Terry, I am learning a lot from your videos on the Luminaire. I just got my Luminaire 2 November or December and am playing with it. Where do I go to turn off the bobbin scissors? Unfortunately an ad pops up right when you get to that part and I didn’t see what you did.
Hi Terry! Thank you for these awesome tutorials! I'm a new subscriber since getting Luminaire 2 in Dec. and your videos are so helpful! I am about to quilt my 62x78 quilt using an Amelie Scott design. My question is about stitching the "A" design in first, 3rd etc in columns instead of changing to "B" and alternating back to "A" and stitch in rows. Thank you. Carol
Amelie Scott offers a downloadable copy of her book that goes into great detail showing how she prepares her quilt and how to use the designs. Stitch out the A and B templates on mesh or a heavy tear away. When you do, make sure you take a pencil or a pen and outline the inside of the hoop you are using. You can choose to stitch in Rows or columns but she begins in the center. Designs in Machine Embroidery has free Virtual Edge to Edge events right now. Go to their website and signup at a Dealer. The Dime representive has a good video or slideshow showing how she used Amelie Scott.
@@terrymaffitt4012 Thanks Terry! My machine dealer will be having the DIME event in a few weeks, and I am signed up for it. Sometimes I overwhelm myself trying to learn too much all at once. Thankfully I can watch your YT tutorials over and over!
I have a Luminaire and have done several of the edge to edge designs. Using the projector, I was always off maybe two stitch widths after lining up what looked to be perfect. I was told by my dealer to use the scanner (requiring much more time), because the projector was not as accurate. Yours lined up so perfectly, I'm wondering if it's my machine??
Terry, I'm attempting to use my Solaris to quilt a large quilt. Have a few questions. Can I use a magnetic hoop for edge to edge designs. Which videos do you recommend to learn more about quilting on my machine.
Thanks for doing this tutorial! -Christine aka Amélie Scott Designs. PS if you don’t have the projector, you can change the start point by pressing the Icon to the right of the +/- stitch icon. When that screen appears, select the position on the left in the middle. Much easier than selecting the first stitch. BTW- Solaris rocks!
Amelie Scott - Christine, thank you for your suggestions. I have used the icon you mentioned (square with a +) to align lettering but have not tried what you described. By the way, I have two questions for you. My dealer does sell your edge to edge designs and some other designs. They do not have the month to month tablerunner series. Are these sold only at Dealers who are signed up for the month to month series? Also, I have the new Big Design package #1. Will you be coming out with more in the Big series. Thanks!
@@terrymaffitt4012 The table runners are Dealer Exclusives, meaning you have to buy them at your local dealer ship, but they are sold individually, so no one needs to commit for a full year. We are working on another Jumbo Pack! And we just release Pack 11.
I too have Amelie's book but have yet to complete a project. I was wondering about tension when you quilt on your Luminaire . Is there much adjusting to do?
Doug & Norma Mellor - I rarely have to adjust tension. If you have thick batting, you might want to stitch a sample quilt sandwich. You can adjust the foot height or top tension to achieve a perfect stitch. When I am testing, I often use darker thread of similar weight in the bobbin.
I have a question Terry - which design would I use? The small, medium , or large? Is the design “size” based on my largest hoop or the desired effect, in my instance a table runner?
Do you have a video on a design on the luminaire? The one I used starts in the middle of the hoop or design. So I can’t go to the first stitch like you did.
I'm having trouble holding on to my bobbin thread. I hold it taunt but it pulls to underside and if I keep holding it breaks off. How do I prevent from this happening? That is the only problem I'm having. Everything else is going perfect. Thank you.
Rose Rivera - if you can pull up the bobbin thread okay, then you can try what I do on the longarm which is to wrap it and the top thread once around my finger and hold it against the fabric until I stitch the first stitch. If you cannot get a hold of the bobbin thread to pull it up, try using tweezers.
Yes i see a large gap on the sides do you just free hand that?. I don't see how you can quilt to the edge. That's the problem I have with this method I alway have space along bottom and edges. Any thoughts?
Prices vary by geographic location. The best thing to do is to find a reputable dealer. I anticipate the price of the Luminaire to drop when Brother announces a new top of line machine.
Michalee Sloan - you can use MDC for an all over fill pattern but to all patterns will look like a continuous design. I will record a video showing what I mean.
I have a commercial type 12 needle and I bought a 10 inch magnetic hoop with a very strong magnet, it is called a Mighty Hoop. I really love it. It holds so firmly that quilts and even thick jackets can be done. I don't think it is available for home machines, but in general, I find magnetic hoops to be so convenient. The top just pops on!
I was finally mentally ready to do the proper tie off-so I came back to learn! Thank you!
I so love learning from you. You explain everything and you don't talk fast. Thank you!
Thank-you for this video. This is the first time I had ever seen burying the thread within the batting. Nice video.

Can you make a video that shows how you can do this without a template. Thank you.
Terry How do you know which is part A and part b you i have the designs by Juju thank you
Thanks so much! ❤️
Yes i see a large gap on the sides do you just free hand that?. I don't see how you can quilt to the edge. That's the problem I have with this method I alway have space along bottom and edges. Any thoughts?
robin woodard - I always take edge to edge designs off the edge of the top into the batting.
@@terrymaffitt4012
Since I spray temporary adhesive I don't need extra batting or backing. I will try. Thanks for the info
How did you make the template?
Can this same technique be used on a queen size quilt?
Bessie Bennett - yes, it is just multiple hoopings
Terry Maffitt doesn’t the extra material get in the way of it moving around?
How much does this machine cost?
Prices vary by geographic location. The best thing to do is to find a reputable dealer. I anticipate the price of the Luminaire to drop when Brother announces a new top of line machine.
Can these designs be done on a Pfaff?
Angela H. - go to Amelia Scott Design website. They sell their designs in multiple formats. I am sure the Pfaff formats are included.
Angela H. - Yes, she has formats for all machines
The quilting looks simple. Maybe something we could design in MDC?
Michalee Sloan - you can use MDC for an all over fill pattern but to all patterns will look like a continuous design. I will record a video showing what I mean.
And now I remember anything I draw will not be a running stitch, but a double stitch.
2 questions: What is the easiest method to re-hoop a large quilt. Second: do you recommend using a magnetic hoop?
