This atf solairus by NW is just soooo much fun to fly . As a aging x hangie the ease of getting up to thermals and ridgelift alows me the kind of p/0 flying i love without endless driving hours and waiting on launch. Mine has a polini 250 wt cooled engine and iam getting great climb rates This little atf is built very well strong on rough fields. Highly doubt it will duck walk. I concider this atf one of the safest forms of flight you can do. Great a speed range, and great glide ratio and sink rate give you a great margin of safety. With a great climb and short take off an engine out at mid field is no problem to land ahead and at end field is no problem to circle back for a landing. Now thats a big plus in safety
How calm does it have to be to fly? I recently learned to HG at crestline. I'm with you on the time investment thing, it's pretty windy in arizona but I've got my own landing strip. Can you really soar with it? Lots of small mountains where I am for ridge lift
@@embededfabrication4482 it will ridge lift no problem . Ive flown mine in gust of 15 . I would suggest you getting a few lessons with a trike instructor. You could get ahold of joe hockman if you are in colorado. You can get ahold of hom thru north wing! Hang gliding crestline awesome. Their are a few things critical diferent in a soaring trike landing and take off , steering . Not complicated but some time with joe would be very smart.
The main advantage of the struts to me is the advantage of quick set up and fold down. With king post you must remove wing from trike to take down. Also storage in much lower head space.

They are actually easier to fly because take off and landing speeds are slower. Most of my flying is non soaring. I enjoy flying low and slow and taking In the view. I would sell it if you are interested.

Couple of questions. Did you sell your ATF? What field were/are you flying out of in NH? Looks like a great place to fly.
