- Today I'm doing my first ride on the 2023 Indian Sport Chief 116ci insane performance cruiser. This will be my first of a handful of videos where I ride, review, and try out the new bike to see what it's all about. Shout out to Indian Motorcycles for lending this out to me!

I love the red line that flashes telling you when to shift
Have one and have put 1200 miles on it. It's a fun bike, for sure. Especially in sport mode. Not real comfortable for long rides, which I like to do, so I changed out the handlebars. But I'm very pleased overall with the bike. That 116 on that small chassis....more than enough power.
I'm glad Jon you're still out doing your thing man. I love your videos.
This is the review I’ve been waiting for! It is disappointing that it doesn’t wheelie and I was wondering why I haven’t seen any videos of people doing it. Especially when it seems to be a direct competitor to the low rider S and ST.
You always make great . I like your videos .
Nice you finally got it
Back In Black 🤘😎 🤩👍 🤸🏼♀️
Hope you guys are having a good summer!
Great bike. Very powerful and fast.
Great looking and sounding bike!!
It would appear you definitely get more bang for your buck with an Indian vs. a Harley.
Great bike for sure, and no one does a review like you do Jon!
Great job bro 😁👌
Great Video Jon, That is one good looking Indian for sure.
I test rode this bike, but went with the Harley Low Rider S. Close call between the two for me.
That purple dyna Krusie built ya thou 💯 🤘
I rode a demo one with the 10” risers and wasn’t impressed with the acceleration; that being said I am wanting to ride a different one that hasn’t been thrashed with inexperienced riders on it for 8,500 miles. Full disclosure: current bike is. 2019 FTR 1200 S Race Replica with the S&S leg burner exhaust and a performance tune from from the dealer soooo I’m used to a far faster acceleration on the daily so I’m wondering if that didn’t jade my experience.
New video on sport mode. Thanks
And from this day fourth they called him Indian Jon! lmao
Haha!
I Second that Motion!!! Indian Jon 👍😁
This review is the one we needed.... Js
Great bike
Do u think with the right risers and some taller shocks could make it a proper stunt bike,Harley is going down the shitter fast, how dare they call that sportster s a sportster, they murdered the sportster Wich has pretty much been the same platform with the iron heads to the evos,,, they should have called that the new v rod or something,, I'm very nervous about what there going to do with there next big twin,, the M8 may be the last real harley
I love that you compared that the sport chief to my vulcan s 😎🫶🤙🏼
Me gusta mucho el velocimetro
Love the bike but it definitely needs louder pipes
How does this compare to the raider? Is the torque noticeably different?
It's been a long time since I rode the raider. The Indian handles better without the rake/longer wheel base the raider has. I'm inclined to say the Indian performance is better as well but that's just from my memory of the raider. No doubt the raider is still an awesome cruiser, just built for different audiences.
Put it in sport mode, then try to do a wheelie.
I tried but the power cuts out still as soon as tue back tire hooks up. Super irritating. Lol.b
@@JonsMotoGarage does it have traction control that can be turned off?
@@plmotoring I checked and couldn't find anything/any way of disabling traction control. But im gonna spend some more time messing around and see what we can do...
It seems like the exact same bike as the 2022 and on Lowrider S
Love the bike, hate the front fairing.
To each their own. I love it, and the whole bike! 😁👍🏻🤟🏻
Once Indian sees how you treat a brand new bike, I'll be surprised if they ever send you another one...
You can hear piston slap...after you've PINNED it, repeatedly, not to mention the idiocy of burning $20 worth of rubber on a test drive... Yeah, once it's YOURS, then OK, it's your money, your clutch...
I would specify, if buying an Indian from that dealer, that YOU didn't "review" it...🤬
Indian is far superior to Harley. I have an Indian now, tested many Harley’s.
😎🛴
amazing harley copy again ;;;
Ya but Indian Motorcycles come with power and there’s no need to change the oil pump or cam plate to aftermarket parts
@@hoppy6663 yes , i agree , but a friend of mine has the scout and it is fast , he has had the bike for a few years ,, but still keeps his sportster as it cruises nicer because it is not wanting to go fast all the time , whereas the scout is always wanting more which makes it a different ride ,, the new indians are definetly better looking ,,
Improvement ! 👍🏻🤟🏻
I rode one. Actually an extended ride. With the taller windscreen and risers the bike was perfect. And I ride a Springfield
Hey Jon , great to see you !!! Loved the video , but man oh man does that thing need some Afyermarket Exhaust!!!😁 I always enjoy the way you break down your reviews 👍 Look forward to an even more Indepth review .
Ways good to see you bro!!! My best to you , Jackie and the kids , may you be Blessed 🙏🙌❤
Thanks, brotha! Stock exhaust definitely needs to go. Lol.
I ride a road glide special. So love my Harley. But indian hit the nail on the head with this one. With what it has standard saves the Harley tax.
That`s a cool bikeJon, no doubt. Good to see you again bro. Keep riding this beast `cause u r looking good.😃Cheers!!!
3 minutes in. Doesn’t wheelie?!?! Turns tv off ✌🏼
😂
What are you riding now? Love your videos and the great humility. Thanks for doin what you do.
Thanks for the support, brotha! I have a 2000 harley fyna fxdx, a 2016 Suzuki drz, and a grom. But truth be told I've been mountain biking way more than riding motos lately. Lol.
@@JonsMotoGarage So, immediately after I posted this comment I watched your videos of the Indian haha. Yeah, that bike looks so slick. I wanna go check one out. I'm on a 2015 fxdl right now. Had a Road Glide before and an 01 fxdx before that. Got run over splitting lanes in San Diego on the fxdx. Totaled the bike, but walked away from it. I know that event caused me to pause and question how much I really wanted to keep riding. I'd had a lot of bikes before that, also. Dynas, a springer softtail, old Triumphs, etc. I took some time and then really missed riding so got the Road Glide and loved that bike. Regret selling it. I was trying to set this 2015 dyna up to be as close to the fxdx just because the fxdx's are way overpriced these days. I do love that stock 88" though. And there is just no beating the handling of that frame and set up. This fxdl is nice, but just feels heavy, etc. I have followed your videos and love your fxdx set up. Definitely want to check out this Indian. Anyway, I was 40, or almost 40 when I went down and also got a gnarly jiu jitsu injury soon after the accident, but went back to that quickly and, after some time away from riding, got another bike. I know your channel and approach to riding and life is a very good thing for so many people and look forward to following your journey. take care.
On the FTR and Challenger there is built-in wheelie mitigation in rain and standard modes. I’m wondering if the sport chief is the same way. I know it’s a different power plant but I’m thinking if you put it in sport mode it may wheelie just fine.
I played around in sport mode as well and didn't have much luck. I'm sure in the right hands that it can be done.
I think the bike is fine, but it is a bit pricy at $18,999.
In my country its 26k
@@maxvanbergen7579 Europe? yikes
So what would you suggest that’s just as nice as this if not nicer for that price range?
@@Jiggy_Jayy The bike looks awesome, but I rather have the Moto Guzzi V100 for the price. Just for example.
Everything is freaking pricey these days
Go through a lot of rear tires ? Lol...
What was that one indian with the carbon tank you were doing a wheelie on?
FTR
Got to test ride this boss of a bike back in March. All I can say is wait till you get seat time in sport mode cause that twitchy throttle is like 1/8 of a turn.
You think it’s got grunt… put it in sport mode, everyone says it’s a completely different animal.
Not trying to be mean, but honestly that was abusive riding.
By my standards, if a bike can't handle the occasional burnouts, hard shifting, accelerating, etc., it's not one I would personally choose to ride. Different strokes for different folks. No offense taken on my end, brotha. 💯🤙
@@JonsMotoGarage True....guess I thought it was suppose to be more of a test ride than anything else.
Why don’t you address the geometry of the frames rake & trail that then review the same components like everyone else.
As performance rides, how do you missed the face that this bike has a goose neck frame that was originally considered for the FXR, when rejected buell motorcycles was created by the original designer and engineer of the FXR platform!
Getting some Victory Hammer vibes from this bike.
It seems like the power and performance are there but it just doesn't have the same refined lines as its main competitor-the Lowrider S. The rear fender looks bloated and over done. The front cowl seems out of place - and obviously the exhaust is terrible, although that's the first anyone would change on either bike. Your riding is on point though! Get them to send you the bagger next!
I think the front and back look excellent, the exhaust is a ‘straight to scrap’ toss though …
That's a sweet ride Jon! I actually started looking into trading my raider for one of these!
I kept my Raider to nice of a bike to give it away, now i enjoy both machines.
That's a sweet ride Jon! I actually started looking into trading my raider for one of these!
My man! I think you'll be happy with the trade. The raider is an amazing bike but I think the handling and overall performance are superior with the sport chief. 💯🤙
Blurrrrrr that Speedo!
Great engine.
The exhaust note let’s it down, but maybe that’s a ploy to make you upgrade.
On this Indian sport mode is insane, really felt compared to HD’s and so on.
Looks like a bubbly Low S but they probably put the anti wheelie tilts in there because of oil pick up issues, just guessing, I know nothing about Polaris's but why wouldn't they want to have their foot in the stunt game, especially when you build the bike to look the part.
70mph in parkin lot is crazy, cant do that here in ny
Damn that thing is quick
I'm getting one when I move and get my garage. That bike is beautiful and makes the low rider S look cheap. Stock fox and brimbo breaks. That's amazing
#FXDLS
I would definitely be proud of myself a lot to be able to ride like you - ordinary Jo Shmo 😂 Well done ! 👍
Great video!
Good to see ya back brotha
Sport chief or low rider s?
Back the little guy; Indian! 😁👍🏻🤟🏻
How’s the rear cylinder heat?
Went for a couple three hour jaunt out your way yesterday and got baked
😉
It deactivates when not needed, to cut the heat ..
Lookin’ good!
How does it compare to the victory vegas
That thunderJOKE engine is a total let down. Wife had one of these for 4 days. We traded it in on another harley. Shouldve never switched. Polaris needs to stick to making quads and all that.
