- In today's video, I will show you how to remove and install a dash pad in a 1967-1972 Chevy or GMC truck. This doesn't sound like a hard task, but it's also not easy. I will show you a few tips to make swapping one of these out a little bit easier.

Going to tackle this on my 72 AC truck. Thanks for the vid
Good luck with it and thanks for watching!
Excellent Vid!!! Love the new helper too!!!
Thanks Garrett! She is really in charge. I’m just the labor!
I don't worry about it, take it all out. I've done about 1500 album. But but that's the each and everybody other own.
This is my third time restoring my own truck. Cab off restoration.
Done frame and everything. Gutted the interior. Complete new floor. Cab corners the works. I don't live in a convenience of an area where I can just get a new cab easy peasy lemon squeezy. You deal with what you got, and it's kind of personal to me. I've had it for 40 years.
That’s awesome to have it for 40 years. Each time you need a set of tires you can restore it! No better way to learn than do it all!
I love you channel because many people learn “how to” many subjects about C10 trucks. Thanks for share your knowledge.
Thanks Enrique! I'm glad to help where I can. I know there have been several videos out there that have helped me over the years. I appreciate the kind words and thanks for watching!
Hey Chad I finally got the dash pad off, you know you're stuff thanks for the heads up where the light switch button on top of light switch I thought that part was easy the little nuts on the ends kinda tough, but I got it out!! and so I
sanded the the dash while I have every thing out like nobs and radio, so I put primer on it
It's looking good !
Thanks George! Those pads can be a real pain. The angled studs on the end are a bear! Smart move sanding and priming while you had it apart! Keep up the good work and that’s for sharing and watching!
You did it about the best way pull the dash and everything out
Sure reduces the blood loss that way!
Very informative. Thanks for producing it.
I appreciate it and glad to help! Thanks for watching!
Hey Chad I communicated with you about the marker lights,
So now changing the dash pad its not very easy my 72 GMC has factory air I watched your videos a few times I know I can do it now. I like the way you explain things. It Might take me all day! Maybe two! But it worth it!
Thanks George! I’m glad to help you all with some tips and tricks. Let me work harder. You guys work smarter! Keep up the great work!
Yeah, those dash pads are a pain in the kester , was on my 68 C10 ! Worth it when it was done though ! 👍
I hear ya. They sure make a big difference.
I was going to order new air ducts for my heater since my old ones came out in pieces before realizing you have to reinstall it anyway. I think I'll do the dash pad first
Sounds like a smart move to me! Do it once and be done!
Great video!
When they're done that and boy is it fun
Thank you!
Awesome and entertaining!
I appreciate it and thanks for watching!
Thanks for the helpful video!
You bet and I'm glad it could help! Thanks for watching!
@@C10TruckNerdtaking them out is a bear. Use HD. VELCRO SPACED APART. With a few bolts on dash. Works for me
@@gerry-p9x That's a great tip! Work smarter not harder right?
Great info Chad. I am iookling for evap housing or the triangle door and seal. 1969 c10. Any suggestions
I appreciate it! Shoot me a message on FB, Instagram or an email with a pic of what you’re looking for,
very helpful, ty
Thank you!
And remember kids, tape off your weatherstripping before painting your ride.😆
Right? That would take effort!
To remove, you have to use the booger hooks on your meat claws! Remember, these all came with a 45 year warranty on “UV” crack damage on the dash pad, so you just missed out on a free one.
The new one are great, but they are usually warped, crooked, bent, deformed or separated from the metal backing and just look wonky. But hey, we don’t want any 7 year old Chinese kids crying because they lost there job…
Either way, it is no fun and words used to replace the dash pad are not appropriate for kids under 16, unless they got their teacher pregnant already. I have a tool that know one has ever seen. It has a screwdriver handle with a metal furrel crimped onto an 16” length of large string-trimmer flex line (1/4” metal speedo looking stuff) but has a 1/4” male socket driver. Now the rub! No longer can you get the tool (Or Barrow) it from me, but certain nuts required the SnapOn extra long short socket. These are 1/4” deeper inside to fit longer studs, but no room to fit a regular deep socket. The problem is this, I bought this SAE set off a SnapOn truck between 1973-1977 maybe. They all say “Blue Point” but have no numbers and only 6 in a metal box. 11-14 dealers have never seen them. But SnapOn won’t recalibrate my 1/2” torque wrench I bought new, as on the 5th try, stickers on wrench from previous calibrations, told me it was to old and had no parts. WTF, they built it! Did the guy who design it walk out the door in retirement with the tooling & documents? They offer me $30 on trade, but new ones start at $300+. I guess I am old. Thanks!
DK, ASE master tech since 78, retired.
The old bolts dont fit my new dashpad😔
Ugh! What a pain! I have lucked out with my replacements so far.
Are those good old sparkomatic speakers? Lol
Some of the best! I used to have a bunch of those as a teen. Behind and under the seats with my Sony Discman running through the cassette player! The good old days!!
Try putting a new dash pad on that’s made in China - sold by LMC. THE FREAKING THINGS DONT GO ON !
That’s good to know! The last one I bought came from CJ Pony and it fit decent with a little persuasion.
I bought mine from LMC Many years
Ago it fit - but he’ll to Remove
Too many items coming from China and there’s no one to scrutinize what’s being received except the customers. It’s a shame the quality of replacement parts sold by companies like LMC, Brothers, H&H are doing to their customers and their reputations.
Alright who put the wrong Steering column on it
Dang square body columns! I bought it that way. I seem to get a lot of them with the Columns missing.
Since you are not reusing the old pad, couldn't you just rip the pad off and glue a new one on? I'm lazy.
The plastic is usually broken that the pad is glued to. If you had one in not too bad of shape you might.
