Dave, I truly applaud you for sharing these repairs and updates from a real world example and expectations. Working on a creeper, not a lift, rusted washers or welded bolts when they are not factory welded. Many have never seen a caged or captured nut even though this was a common design practice. Plus tips lifting one side at a time. Just super tips of the more experienced to make their job go well. Thanks Dave!
My first ever build was a '66 Mercury Comet and it took 3 yrs to finish whilst figuring stuff out on my own. I'd never done body work or paint until then. I started my new project last week, a 2wd '71 GMC wideside. Your videos have already made my life easier and this project will go much faster. Thanks for the videos.
Just did this on my 71 K5 Blazer. The front radiator support ones are the hardest. Get all the rusty bolts off the inner fender and drop it down so I can get my hands in there. Should have took the radiator out would have been a lot easier. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Awesome video. The blazers a little different setup but the same principle. Thanks again
I just did a long comment to a couple of guys about cab mount bushing install. Just if all you are wondering how and why I think I know so much is here is why; started 1967-1972 Chevy/GMC 4X4 truck restoration back in 1979. We've (our shop) done just under 400 of these units. Buying, selling and body-off-frame restoring and engine building. Back to the cab mounts my advice is very simple and clear cut ----do not under any circumstance use anything with the word POLY. My experience with that nasty word was with Energy Suspension company and it's cab bushing kit for 1972 Chevy truck. The composite component is so damn hard and unforgiving that nothing in the truck lined up. Body lines were off, doors wouldn't shut, fender hit the door, and everything --even the damn tailgate hardware jiggled and rattled. We had to take everything out and order out on ebay a stock OEM ---RUBBER---and that's the key word--Rubber-- because of it's ability to let the mount flex and move --the poly was like we put in steel blocks instead. That was our experience. Thx. Jim
This looks great. I changed my cab mounts 2 years ago. I needed to tighten them today and the right side (Cab rear) tightened fine but the left side is just spinning. I think the cage nut isn't caged any longer. The gas tank is in the way so I can't see the nut. Any advice on getting a wrench behind the gas tank to hold it while I tighten from under the cab? I purchased the kit from Brothers Truck and they sent me one wrong part but quickly sent the correct one. Brothers has been very helpful in my project. Thank you.
Thanks for these awesome and entertaining video series. I figured you were going to be painting this truck but still cringed every time you set the bolts and mounts on the hood.
Normally we'd be far more careful, but even if we're being nice this truck is barely a 20 footer in person (looks great on camera though) and it's about to get painted. Thanks for watching guys!
My bushings are due in any day now. My question is the rear bolts.... Do you have to move the seat and or gas tank to get to them? I guess I will find out the hard way.
Perhaps you can do a video on dual fuel tanks? I have a 68 c20 with a dual tanks but it is not connected to the switching unit under the floor boards. It was not a manual switch over, but an electric one. I would like to get it working, and if possible hooked the the fuel gauge or have a separate gauge? All 4 of my dualies had twin tanks - 3 were automatic the oldest one had a switch on the dash to check the levels in each tank. Thanks I need to replace the cab mount bushings - they are shot, so this video will be helpful
It would be very similar. We have videos on the 47-54 truck and the 60-66 truck too, so a combination of those resources will definitely get you through the job!
Can anyone recommend an installer for the body mounts in the Northern CA area, San Jose, or anywhere semi close? Don’t think i would have much success on my own.
I just bought this kit, and the parts are nothing like in your video. The mounts are all the same. No hard washer in one. Maybe update your video. Kinda disappointing 😢

Right on, thanks for watching!

Glad I live in road salt free CA. My '69 has front mounts, near the bumper

Thanks for watching! This truck is actually in the paint booth right now, so those mounts and bolts didn't make a difference!
Awesome videos so helpful
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing 👏👏

Anyone else cringe when the bolts hit the hood? ;-)
Regardless, thanks for the vid.
Yes that's the first thing I noticed. No me gusta.

Yes, that was the first thing I noticed!!
Very helpful!
You mentioned painting the frame brackets. What should we use? Do you have a video for cleaning and touching up the frame?
We normaly use Rustmort or Rust Reformer amd then paint it with a good enamel paint. We don't have a video on cleaning up the frame.
Thank You
Our pleasure!

Great information -But Please Place a Towel on the Hood In the Future - protect the Paint 🤔👍🏻
Do I have to take my fender off on my 1971 caprice just to change my body mount
Well this process work on a 2nd Series 55-59 Chevy truck which I'm almost close to getting late summer season
It would be very similar. We have videos on the 47-54 truck and the 60-66 truck too, so a combination of those resources will definitely get you through the job!
I had that done for the 72 when I painted cuz the painter recommended it
Very interesting
Thanks
Is the cab brushing Mount set up on a 1985 c20 Long bed custom deluxe and a 1986 GMC Sierra high Sierra Long bed regular cab
Are they both 3/4 ton?
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV no first truck is a 3/4 ton Long bed and the second truck is a 1/2 ton Long bed
@@kenworthcustomlogisticstru8096 The body mounts will be different between the two of them then.
Can anyone recommend an installer for the body mounts in the Northern CA area, San Jose, or anywhere semi close? Don’t think i would have much success on my own.
We don;t have an installer to recommend, but if you have a floor jack and basic hand tools you can probably get this done in a few hours yourself.
👍well that don't look too bad.
Thanks Darren!
what bushings do i need for bed ?
The bef just uses thin rubber pads. You can find them on our website www.brotherstrucks.com
What wheels are those.....very cool
Not 100% sure. This was a customers truck so we don't have the details
"you stay tuned...ya hear"
If this guy isn't your go to, for c-10 know-how, you're doing it wrong!
Hey Dave. How can I fix a Ford truck? 😂
Sell it and buy a good chevy truck. 🤪

Not on the paint!
تتكلم اكثر من الحاجة المطلوبة ...يبدو انكم متعطشين للكلام لكونهم تعيشون وحيدين لا صاحب ولا خليل او صديق
The paint tho... I'm cringing.
