Hey guys, a quick PSA I made a boo boo with the Saber hilts. Having three rattling around I managed to mix them up! In the first shot the new ESB one is on the right not the left! The one on the left is the ANH one! Sorry for the mix up guys!
Love how quick yet detailed and to the point your reviews are. In other reviews I find they go on for a little too long. I still humbly disagree & think the ESB Vader is severely flawed in practicality after my struggles putting it together. Rogue One is probably still the best Hot Toys Vader.
It is one of the best, however this new one comes with so much more in terms of accessories and it’s also from my favourite Star Wars film so I guess that helps 😂
The "gap" between the eyes and outer shell is actually accurate to the movie, its kinda funny when I see people complaining about it when its actually completely accurate.
Oh I thought it might be, thanks man. I don’t think I was complaining just saying that I don’t remember it being there, but you’ve cleared that up for me 😊
I doubted this pre order! I said to myself “man i dont know if this vader looks the best” and boy.. he’s EXACTLY what I want! Thank you for this video Justin. Your becoming my favorite bro
Thanks for the comparison and insight into the different Vaders. I have the original release ANH and am still quite happy with him. I was thinking about picking up the ESB then RotJ when he's released to have Vader from the 3 films. I think I'll be happy with the ESB. The Bespin base is really cool too!
The factors that makes the ESB version my personal favorite are: #1: Ingenius how Hot Toys makes the helmet moveable/shiftable above the eyes of the mask. In the movie, one of the things that always caught my eyes was how this very thing occurs while he's pleading with Luke to join forces with him on Bespin. The top of his helmet shifts like a lot when he talks. If Hot Toys would have made it one piece, you could not simulate this at all. Furthermore, his helmet does sit above the eyes with a gap in ESB versus ANH, so amazing to me that Hot Toys would capture this. #2: I like how both the belt and the chest plate light up. I don't particularly care for just having a light-up feature on the belt because I feel like if that's lit, the chest plate should be as well. It just bugs me that with some of the older versions that you cannot light up the chest plate. #3 The display base is simply amazing, yet simple.
Great review! I just purchased my first Vader - got the rogue one version. Will the ANH v1 or ANH v2 with Tarkin helmet fit w no mod on the r1 version body? I want a more screen accurate look and rogue ones helmet looks too shiny. Thanks!
Hi man!! Phew. I haven't slept cause of watching your videos that I missed, Also I didn't go a little well on my exams. But I made it to watch your videos! 😄😄
The "A New Hope" Vader that came with Tarkin is my favorite . I got him and ESB Vader. Both with custom robes and capes from ebay that have a more natural flow to them.
Thanks for the comparison review! I own ANH version 1 and Rogue One, I think they look better so I'll skip the Empire version and wait for ROTJ for the reveal helmet. It's still a shame that Sideshow decided not to release their McQuarrie Concept Vader, that's a version I couldn't wait to have on display.
Darth Vader always looked way better in A New Hope than he did in Empire, Jedi or Sith. However Vader looks his absolute best in Rogue One with his pleated tunic and sexy looking cape. His cod-piece that people always makes fun of actually looks nice and thick. It has a much better shape and design to it than all of the rest of them. The first version of the Hot Toys ANH Vader had the most horrible gloved hands that has ever been made and I'm glad that they have corrected it for their newer version of Vader in the new two-pack with Governor Tarkin.
@@jimsmith6603 I got the two pack tarkin and vader and the dickheads at HT messed up his armor it has no grey on the shoulders and the saber is wrong.I wonder is HT knows about screen stills
The tunic on the new ESB Vader is quite nice looking and pleated but bunched up and off to the side it looks sorta junky. The Hot Toys Rogue One Darth Vader is by far the best and greatest Darth Vader action figure that has ever been made/released! :-) It actually looks quite luscious as a matter of fact! :-)
The only reason the facemasks are even slightly different is because one is more accurate than the other...essentially the face masks of Vader are the same sculpt, the only differences being practical ones like enlarging the chin vent for better view and colors of lenses etc, fatter lip on roj, but Brian Muir did not resculpt Vader’s face...the dome has been reworked to removed the widows peak and it is seated higher and more forward or backward depending on the shots, but the face mask is essentially the same expression.
Victoria's Cantina plus I suppose the price of these hot toys figures can at times put you off buying them, I only have a couple myself, love to get the emperor and the prequel figures but its too expensive for me, just have to settle for seeing them in these reviews
My favorite Darth Vader hot toys the date is the episode 4 one. I love how he looks used like you did in the movie and I like the inner tunic going over the mantle better. For me it's kind of a toss-up between the episode 3 and 4 as my all time favorites.
:) I meant bulkier as in the height with the helmet being bigger gave it a bulky look.. I would agree he could be the best if he was taller and they put a magnet in the helmet to lock it better in place. Vader is cool regardless which one you have... I'll take them all :)
Justin's Collection oh... One bone to pick... I took your advise on the standard ESB Fett... However... If your a Fett Fan... Keep the sideshow, buy the HT deluxe and use the extra pieces to kit bash s whole new Fett lol Never enough Fett styles :)
Yeah the standard one was the way to go for me, I don’t really fuss over looks that weren’t seen on screen, but yeah absolutely that would look great on the sideshow fett. Only issue is the shoulder pads and cape don’t connect the same way
You got the light sabers mixed up, the one with the gap between the grips and the clamp is ANH and the one without the gap is ESB as well as RO has no gap either
Hey Justin! My RO Darth Vader's suit pants started flaking, so I was looking through ebay and found a ESB Vader pants for sale. I was wondering if the ESB Vader pants look different from the RO Vader (terms of glossiness, size, etc) Many thanks!
Justin, can you confirm if MMS452 has the breathing effects as I’ve seen both 452 and 572 bodies have the same abdomen speaker and rear battery and on/off switch as 279 does
I have the OG ANH vader figure, the ESB 40th anniversary and just recently pick up a custom hot toys RO that a fella made far more movie accurate and it looks incredible compared to the standed RO hot toys release. However the ESB Vader is by fa my favorite and so is the movie so there may be some bias there.
Vader should be bulky. David Prowse was a body builder and he was at his biggest (I believe) in ROTJ. I mean unless they are really going for the Bob Anderson version - who did most of the swordplay action in ESB, but you could tell that the suit didn't fit him as well since he was a much thinner guy than Prowse.
Your right he was well built, that said, he was nowhere near as 'chunky' as how the ANH figure depicts him. When you watch the following clip -- particularly at the 1:25 mark -- you'll see that Hot Toys did a much better job nailing Vader's proportions (arms, torso, head to body..) this time around. ruclips.net/video/bv20ZoBcdO8/видео.html
@@dangiambrone7350 Totally agree. I was mainly just making a comment about how people are saying that the ESB is too scrawny... but yes... in ANH, he was definitely skinnier and at his biggest in ROTJ. So, ESB should be somewhere in the middle -- although I do understand that using a stock Hot Toys body should be fine -- but again... when Bob Anderson was wearing the suit, during the dueling parts of ESB, his frame is much longer and skinnier than Prowse's.
The ultimate Darth Vader hot toys figure he would be the Revenge of the Sith one. It's Superior on screen andI could possibly be the best one Hot Toys could make, if they stay true to all the differences in the cost of and helmet
Just prefer the whole package, if you're just looking at the figure itself the Rogue one has my pick but with the display base and accessories this one wins out
The curvature of the eyes is not a screen accurate depiction. The black to silver transition is a little different in the props since they. Ritually used the same face mask except the size of the chin vent and screen and minor variations in the silver / black details
@@JustinsCollection Fair enough, each to their own I guess! I do prefer the slightly shorter height actually, the usual 14" is a little too big. But the helmet looks odd and he's just so thin! Or maybe the chest plate armour is too big. I don't know, but something just feels off! Great video btw tho, keep it up!

This new Empire Strikes Back version looks amazing too,so it depends on personal taste and which film or films you prefer. For me,im going to purchase them all, you cant have too many Vaders👍🏻
The A New Hope version 1 Vader would've been way the hell better if not for those crummy ass gloved hands. Hot Toys eventually got it right with the MMS434 Vader. :-)
The empire face mask is less accurate to the screen used prop than the a new hope or rogue one because of the weird eyes, the steepness of mouth grill And tilt Of The dome

ANH takes the win. The side shot did it for me. That scrawny Vader looks terrible.. the gloss is ok but make sit look plastic-ish and toys ish.

Darth Vader 3 1/2 movies
Anakin Skywalker 4 movies
Obi Wan Kenobi 4 movies
Luke Skywalker 6 movies

Galaxy6106 no Luke was in 6 movies, Darth Vader in 3 1/2 because the OG trilogy and in half of ROTS and Anakin in 4
Galaxy6106 you forgot the new trilogy
Galaxy6106 Disney? Luke is in 6
Galaxy6106 there are 9. Force Awakens, Last Jedi and Ride of Skywalker. Are you dumb? He was in those movies.
Rogue One version is the superior version, definitely.
Agreed
I like the ESB Vader the most, but the height difference is upsetting, wish he was taller.....but he does look the best
