A modern top level mage would have casted CS on him right before that fireball to keep rogue in combat but you don't really see that type of gameplay in these old videos

This really triggers a special place in my heart. The feeling swirling up in my chest is from out of this world. Some may say this is just a game but this is more. There are so many almost forgotten moments, friends that went offline and never came back on, so much time spent...ah hearing these songs and seeing Vurtne, one of my heroes back then...it just hurts but it was a wonderful time. This was not "just a game" brother. I was there, Gandalf, I was there 18 years ago.. It's almost impossible to put into words how WoW made us feel back then. Not playing anymore for a long time now, but to this day I come back to these classics every now and then for a nostalgic aftertaste of the feeling. Probably always will. Take care out there
It's 20 years later and I still think about the people I played Vanilla WoW with. I know it's crazy to say but for 16 year old me my guild was basically family.
I played since release. It was magic. I remember our non-premade WSGs. I started as lvl 15 i think. Basically lived in WSG. Horde was a minority on that server so we had no ques but a lot of practice. Was usually the same 9 people and me :) Damn it was good. We rarely lost a round. Epic WSG mount at lvl 58, yes please. PvE was lots of fun too. Memories :D I started on Alliance side but switched to Horde. One day i talked to some dude from a guild i used to be in on Alliance side. He had no idea that i was that Horde dude from WSG. When i told him, he got mad and said he hated my Horde character :) Hellscream EU Mean Green Machine (Orc only guild).
if classes in vanilla were balanced like in 3.3.5 it would have been great, except for enhancement shaman, cause he got weaker and it wasn't a terribly good spec in pvp to begin with, just a leveling spec, it was my favorite , its alright in bfa but the game is just a faceroll grind and jackpot machine, where u barely talk to anyone to do stuff

full high warlord is about the gear lvl you get from AQ40. naxx is an entirely different world of hurt. i see some guys with my gear level do some insane 5 and 6v1, just because of the sheer amount of damage and mana you get from t3 and other naxx gear. pvping at that level of gear feels dirty, because it feels like beating children. no resistance, just an unbridled slaughter fest.

If I’m not mistaken he got the warlord gear at the beginning of BC, when it didn’t require r12-r13 rank anymore and just costed honor, and he used it in his Vurtne 60-66 PvP video. Back in Vanilla he didn’t have it. And as said by somebody else here, epic PvP gear is roughly equivalent to T2 gear, not even AQ or Naxx, so it’s not “this good” compared to T3 (but still mandatory for some classes specialization, like shadow priests).

Super late reply, but another Swede, "Danaik Triple D" get's my vote. Survival (at the time the pve spec) hunter lvl 72-78 vs mostly lvl 80 (groups / fully geared).
it's probably hard to imagine the context for the time. People were computer illiterate, and most were probably rocking a mouse with a ball inside. Barely grasping how to move around the world, you had next to no tools on the internet to help you, or they were unrefined to say the least. You were enjoying just to be able to interact with other people in a virtual world, though everything was very new and most of the time people clicked their abilities. Safe to say everyone was veeeeery slow. But then you see this guy fucking showing up out of nowhere, solo charging over to your squad, casting his spells and killing your teammates before giving you any time to react to wtf is going on (remember this was all super new so it was normal that everyone was ultra slow). It's crazy how fast and efficiently this guy played his character in an environment where the norm was to be a turtle.... Even 5 years later wanding people when you're silenced was considered a crazy skilled move because people just didnt have the reaction time to do anything for those 4 seconds when you were silenced. Man truly massively innovated the gameplay of video games in itself

All other GMs had given out money/items on to their guildies, GM's guild free farmed Ragnaros 5times under 1 week cuz of a bug, each restart/server crash ur "raid history save" was cleard and Ragnaros couldnt attack ranged players. Script sucks ass when u ding 60 and try to raid.

That's 2 different helmet, one charges the enemy while the other mind controls. This is back in vanilla when you can change your gear mid-fight (unlike today) and it wont trigger a 30 sec cooldown. He changes the gear to suit his needs.
Back in the days skill cap was way harder to reach. Now you just watch videos and learn what to do, how to bind keys, how to everything. Back then you had to learn everything yourself. That's why he's a genious, while other people was clicking spells he Iceblocked stuff. He invented most of the things you could do with a mage nowadays.
