  • It's a Shabbat prep vlog! Thanks for coming along as I get ready for Shabbat (Shabbos)! After sleeping in, I start my day with praying and then I go into a story time where I chat with you about the Azkerah we had the night before. I explain to you this practice and how it fits into Jewish mourning. Then I go on about my day, cleaning, preparing food for Shabbat, and answering a few of your questions along the way such as modesty for children in Orthodox Judaism, modesty for men in Orthodox Judaism, why do I light so many Shabbat candles, and what happens if I mess up while keeping kosher or observing Shabbat. I close out my day with you shortly before I need to light candles. Thank you for watching this day in the life of my Orthodox Jewish life!
Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. This video is a sneak peek into our daily lives :) You can see how this particular Jewish homeschool mom sets up her days, rolls with the punches, and gets it all done. Thanks for watching!

Hello friends! Hope you are all enjoying your day! We had an absolutely lovely shabbat and then jumped right into prepping for Rosh Hashanah (which starts TONIGHT as I type this). Don't worry, I am filming it ;) If you are interested in learning more about Rosh Hashanah and the rest of our holidays that are coming up soon (Yom Kippur, Shavuot etc...) you can check out my Holidays Playlist here: ruclips.net/p/PLqxZU_RTv3pt5T9ptagcLLnnc9VUPVQiM Enjoy!

My first thought on why you light so many candles for Shabbat was so you can see where you are going in the house (bathroom, bedroom, ect) when it gets dark. Practical use. lol

@@jaroffireflies I now know that is not why you light the candles but light to see is a nice unintended benefit. I can't help but think that is one way God provides light even if you do not light the candles with the intention of doing it for light.

I think this is beautiful what you do for your children who aren’t here but with God. He tells us they are a blessing. And psalms 139 tells us He knew us before we were born. So He knew them. They were people he created too. I must say, you have inspired me to look deeper and see how to incorporate sabbath into my life. I feel like I don’t get one because I’m a mom. So watching your videos, is very inspiring and I feel a tug at my heart and soul to maybe find ways to get the rest it craves.

Thank you for these lovely videos. It's so interesting to learn about Orthodox Jewish customs and you have a beautiful family!
I used to sell flowers and you may find that the heads of your roses droop if you cut the stems in the air. This is because an air bubble is sucked into the stem when you snip it and it stops water from travelling up the stem. If you cut the stems under water, this won't happen. Also, if the head has already drooped, you can cut the stem again furthet up under water and it should recover. Thanks again for your lovely videos!

Hi I really appreciate the way you value everyone In your family. It’s a hard thing to articulate but I can see you value and appreciate your husband. You smile when you talk about him. (So sweet.❤️). You value and love your children you watch over them with love and care. You value your daughters opinions on clothing and her choices . She’s so lucky you let her have a say as she grows. I love that you are developing communication with her on things that matter.
I also saw how you value the babies that you did not get to raise. Even though their stay was brief you value them too. Ummm I’m definitely not crying.., ❤️. You value your husbands dad by honoring him, remembering him and celebrating him. I know you honor him by loving his son too.
I really think your family is super lucky to have you. The world would be such a better place if we all learned how to value others the way you value the people you love. It’s a beautiful thing.

We also have rules about modesty, but like you said it's about SO much more. In our church we get a little um... obsessed about the clothing and dressing part of modesty. We tend to forget that it includes the way we act and speak.

Hi, I subscribed yesterday to your channel. I’ve enjoyed learning about the Jewish faith. I had a near death experience and I was in a coma for three weeks. I won’t bore you with the details. I live in a small town in Utah and I was at the Drs. Office and I was almost to the door to get to my car and a rabbi (remember, small town in Utah) asked me if I had experienced a near death experience about and told me so many things about myself and family, that was so personal that no one would know. Bizarre!!! He told me about the Jewish faith and he knew I was searching for peace in my soul. I was intrigued and I have been studying about your faith and your channel came up and I subscribed to your channel. Sorry, I don’t want to bother you. But, what kind of counter tops are in your house? Love your channel. Thanks

Loving your videos. I wasn't able to observe Sabbath this weekend as I was travelling for my granddaughter's christening which was so lovely to celebrate with all the family but, I am very much looking forward to having time out from the world this coming weekend. Wishing you a blessed Rosh Ha Shana. I hope you enjoy it very much.

Hi Chana: I thoroughly enjoy all your content! I know a bit about the Jewish mourning process, sitting Shiva, etc. I also attended a memorial service at a synagogue; one of the physicians for whom I was working had lost his father. Very beautiful, and, I am so on board with the burial happening asap. I love kugel of all kinds from when I first had it at my friend's grandmother's house. That was fifty years ago. Your husband is handsome and so great with the cooking..such a keeper! 🤗 I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Enjoy Rosh Hashanah, and, please do consider a video about your preparations for the holiday. Take care! Rosemarie 💖

Hi Chana, Greetings from England! I have recently found your channel and absolutely love it! I stay home too (due a chronic illness meaning I can't work) but no kids yet. I find your diligence in housework and serving your family admirable. Your dedication to prayer and reading in the morning is also an encouragement to me to keep going with starting my day with reading my Bible and talking to God. My husband has recently returned to work at the office full time (having worked from home during covid) and I'm finding the transition a little tough. Your videos bring me peace and joy. Praying for you xx. (P.s. lighting the candles for your babies born too soon is so lovely, thank you for kindly sharing such a personal detail)

Hannah, thank you so much for all that you share. I want to go back to the ones that you spoke of concerning the Jewish mourning of their loved one. I find this all so interesting and your openness to share these things truly blesses me. I trust you had a wonderful Shabbat. I'm guessing that there won't be a Thursday video this week because of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur? I wish you a wonderful holiday.

I do the same thing, we are not Jewish but also had 2 miscarriages. We always put flowers out and light little tea candles on about the time they would have been born. Both were early spontaneous miscarriages, I was in nursing school both times, we were doing clinical rounds. Not to make a joke but what better place to miscarry, than learning the ob floor the first time, and Er the second. If it had to happen anywhere besides home, the clinical training at the hospital was the right place to be. We did tell the kids when they were teens , we had two babies in 11 months, when my son started talking he said it was dark in there ( kinda weird, he said I was hungry he could hear my stomach rumbling, mind you this was out of the mouth of a 3 year old who really had no clue, his sister born 11 months after him, he said I left toys for you to play with inside mom. I think he has an overworked imagination but doctor said do t be so sure, who knows what he thinks he heard, left or whatever. I always say I was blessed with 2 boys, unfortunately our daughter choose to leave home to join a weird religious cult the day after high school, that was 18 years ago. She is not in our lives. I decided either the help of a psychiatrist to say we only have 2 and a DIL. She won’t be back, she is brain washed. We are over it now, all we can say is we are sorry she made that awful choice and we wish her well.it’s a very sad thing for a parent to accept, it took lots of therapy to get it. I am sorry if I said in prior videos here and other sites we only have the 2 boys and DIL. Will she come back….who knows.

As always, a lovely video. I hope your husband and your family are finding peace after the loss of his father. I don’t know much about Jewish practices, but grief is the same no matter what religion you are, and I hope all the lovely memories of your father in law are starting to outshine the ache that is surely still in your hearts. ❤️ I have a question and a request! Can you tell more about the cloth you use to cover the challah on your table? I have heard that it is a special cloth and was wondering if you could say something about it? Also, I am gluten free as well and I would love to see more of your baking. It is has been a long road to learn how to bake gluten free and I still have many failures, but I keep trying new things!😄

Thank you so much! The challah cloth can literally be a napkin, but we like to use something special. I cross stitched and sewed ours. As for cooking gluten free, anything I filmed will be in here: ruclips.net/p/PLqxZU_RTv3pvi2bToQjOCGzXQ5vMjtVQ5 including my challah recipe :) 💖 Enjoy!
