I know there were predominantly black characters on A Different World and the Cosby show, but those of us who grew up watching those shows didn't think about their race while watching them. Dr. Huxtable's humor was exactly like my dad. The kids were a lot like all of us in high school and college no matter our color. They were both just really great sitcoms. I wish TV would return to shows like these.

@@MRSSAXON It's such a good documentary series! I didn't even know how huge the scope of Cosby's abuse was, I'm embarrassed I didn't look closer. All the testimonials about the weird culture on the Cosby Show set, the bizarre recurring obsession with "Spanish fly".. he got away with this for so long partly because of de facto enablers like Malcolm.
I have to give it to him... He handled this with class. I'm sure he still loves Cosby. They're probably like family to each other. And it shows. But he neither dragged Cosby's name through the mud nor exonerated him. This must have been tough. I have so much respect for MJW.

Days like this is when I miss Larry King on regular primetime. His interviews were so relaxing to sit through and you never catch him trying to put words in a person's mouth just to get a story out of them. True clean journalism at it's finest. Both the right and left can agree on.

I mean, she escaped a bad situation & raised all the kids, regardless if she birthed them or not. Left the U.S. (As many did who were African American in Entertainment did to escape racism) to raise her children freely. So, solid journalism.. yes, but 'clean' no. Mr. King had his biases, for sure.
Larry King has been criticized for years for taking the easy road when interviewing his guests. He asks unexacting questions. He leads them to gush on about themselves. He's the anti-Barbara Walters.

I loved my grandpa, and had loving encounters with him each time. However, after his passing, as I got older, I've learned he was a terrible alcoholic, cheated on his wife constantly, and after grandma died, he treated his kids (my dad and aunt) very poorly up to his death. I never saw or experienced it

This interviews WELL DONE. Larry ACTUALLY LISTENED to his guest compared to ‘the ladies on the View’. As a woman, I was DISGUSTED by how these women WEREN’T LISTENING to Malcom, talking over him, cutting him off, WOULDN’T LET HIM SPEAK. And THIS IS WHY I DON’T like these women group “talk shows”. Because they are EXTREMELY CATTY, they talk OVER one another, they DON’T listen, they GOSSIP, if they don’t like THE TRUTH, they WILL CUT you off. I HATE IT! Interesting thoughts. Yes, maybe they were displaying the catty behavior of those with some insecurities... Malcolm intimidated the heck out of them due to their own insecurities about several things, including they probably idolized him, they are conflicted in their thoughts, feelings and lack of information doesn't help, they don't even know what their confused minds are thinking and it comes out as catty.

My whole family would get together on Cosby Show night. That was something that I really enjoyed as a child. It kind of breaks my heart that all this is going on now.

I agree, and I expected to see more negative comments, both for the part in which he says we will never know the truth and the fact that he's talking about it like it's some unfortunate persecution which the poor man is going through. He's the one going through a lot? Not the women he abused?

tbh no actor likes to be typecasted and stuck in a character that is actually what has held him back. The Fresh Prince of Bel Air cast feels the same way including Will Smith - he says no matter what he does people associate him with the show even with his level of success . it is hard for actors. Being on an iconic show with an iconic cast and playing an iconic character is a curse and blessing both at the same time

I don't think it's held MJW back from some great movie career. He has done much better than a lot of other former child stars. But he was never what I consider to be a great actor. He was great as Theo, but it was hardly a challenging role. I think Cosby actually had the toughest part routinely going from goofball to responsible parent. He really did carry the show.
I love how he listens to him and let's him speak. It's not very comment to see an interview where they listen and let the person speak. I don't care to watch the female talk shows because it's not a talk show. It's a "Who can talk the loudest and get their point across while cutting others off" show. I personally dontind debates, and having conversations, and hearing different perspectives and how other people feel about a subject. What I don't like is when it becomes a competition and turns into a "well you're wrong so I am going to prove you wrong" situation instead of opening your mind up to different points of view, and if you don't agree, then to respect the other person's view. They have a right just as much as you do to feel how they feel. I have this problem worth a LOT of my friends, granted they are all teenagers (I am 17), and I can't have a serious or meaningful conversation without it turning into an argument or someone's feelings gets hurt and they personally attack me or someone else in the group. I have found some teens that are like me and we can have these kinds of discussions. You just have to know who you can and can't talk to about certain things, and I am sorry to say but in my honest opinion, these female talk shows are mostly contests to me and not seriously sitting down and having a civil and adult conversation. As a young woman I have to set an example for other kids my age and for my little sisters. My mom raised me this way and I am grateful for it.

Larry King didn’t pressure him into saying something he was unsure of. It’s pretty obvious that Malcom was uncomfortable, he was also trying to pick his words carefully as to avoid getting involved with something that really had nothing to do with him.
Still one of my all time favorite comedy series.

The show was part of a great era of excellent artistry in entertainment with a subtle message which was never heavy handed, but truthful. The cast of the Cosby Show is an exceptional group of people and I will continue to look at it from that perspective. Man it had the finest guest stars of their time through out the whole series.
It’s all just sad and hard to take because one way or the other there will never be closure and Malcom is right on target for putting it in that context. I feel bad for him as he spent his youth growing up being mentored by Mr. Cosby. He himself is has always had it together and I sure wish him all the best.

Jamal - PLEASE re-do the Cosby Show and play the Dad yourself this time. The show did so much good and helped bring families together. I can't imagine raising my kids without a show like that .... and there's nothing else like it. What Bill did in the dark should NOT take away from the positive things he did ... and he did a lot of positive things. Not in anyway condoning what he did in the dark. There is a punishment for crime and karma will have the last say on that - but I hate to see society condemning EVERYTHING Cosby did. This is such a sad story on all fronts. It's possible to live/work with someone for years and not know about or experience what he did to these women. It happens every day all over the world. It doesn't mean that they're in denial about what he did. Their experience with him was just very different. Some of these type of men/women live right in our homes and we don't know everything that goes on.

I'm so glad the Cosby Show is back on the air. I love how that show depicted love among the family members and especially between husband and wife. And they knew how to discipline their kids WITHOUT YELLING OR RAISING THEIR VOICES at them. It showed us the ideal.... what to strive for.
