Yeah, Finike!
It's a totally different world from Kas. The two cannot be compared, each has their own pros and cons. We're loving it so far.
I was told by a local captain in Antalya that all these marinas start out as fishing boat marinas and then money comes in and takes over. There is a new fishing boat marina just south (behind a rock outcrop) of setur antalya and he believes it will eventually become another cruising marina.
There are also purpose built marinas, but yes quite a lot of the marinas start out as fishing harbours. By the look of Finike this is one of them. We see support vessels for the fish farms going out regularly and we also see small fishing boats coming and going too.
When I was on an RTW moto ride, within 6 hours of getting into Turkey I was on a complete strangers boat drinking and swimming in the sea. The people of Turkey definitely where the nicest and kindest I've ever met
They are very warm and generous. 👍
Hi, that marina construction belongs to Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure. Not been rented or saled to any marina group yet.
Best,
TANER
Thank you Taner, that is interesting information. 😀
It is so nice to see warm sunny days😀
In real time we are getting heavy rain over Finike today.⛈
😘
Cheers Shelley. 👍
good morning. lov it- so nice done!
Thank you! Cheers! 😀
The pirates you are lol great vid as always
Aaarrrgh
Greetings from Germany and Happy new year! Great videos and lovely spirits you guys having! Many thanks for sharing with us.. I had two years stop over in Finike with my boat, a Mason 43, and currently in Kas Setur Marina. Finike is nicer in comparison about boater's community (many yachtsmen around the world) enjoying either summer, winter times both, at the hut called Porthole and the most reasonable marina inbetween the Setur Marinas chain. Local fishermen sells their catch in their little shop on the fishermen's jetty early mornings. Not a partying little town as Kas but a calm relaxing town and close by to many awesome little bays you may anchor. Wind always blows in the Finike bay, reasonably 10-17 knots, sometimes confusing seas afternoons when the wind picks up stronger, to be aware.. Enjoy Finike and keep up the lovely sailing moments! Cheers!
Hi Juno, we are really enjoying the community here in Finike and we are meeting some wonderful people.
Nice one neighbours! 👍 Sail Safe Guys, Ant, Cid. x
Stay warm and dry. ⛈😀
Are you guys aware they have portable pump out as well. They will wheel over a unit to your boat at the pontoon.
Yes we've seen it being wheeled around. We are literally 52 metres from the shower block so we just go there. 👍
Good evening guys, new subscriber to your channel. Playing catch up with your journey these last few years. You seem a lovely couple, well done to you both 🇬🇧
Welcome aboard! And if you have any questions on any of our videos just leave a comment and we'll get back to you. 👍
Happy new year keep up the good work guys
Happy new year!
Lovely, it warmed me up during these cold days
Glad you enjoyed it Turgut. 😀👍
When they just had started construction of the mystery marina we were based in Kemer. On a nice lazy upwind sail from Kemer to Kekova I almost sailed into the wall 😳
We were wondering if it could be used as a bolt hole if the weather turned bad. Not sure how deep it is in there or if there are some things on the bottom that could foul the anchor.
:) lol Must have been a Long Shave ;)
More like a long overdue shave. 😂
😂
When you listen with cc on , there's a lot of applaus.... 👍😇 sound of water around boat
Sorry about that, with everything that has been going on recently, we forgot to edit the cc to correct the errors of the auto cc. We'll get right onto that.
@@SailingABSea it was just a fun thing for me, i can understand you, but written makes sometimes more sense, sometimes not👏 🌊🌊
👍
Cheers.
Great....
Quick question....
45ft. cost per day/week ??
Seems to be worth visiting.....Many thanks 😊 🙏
That is a how long is a piece of string question. The first year in Finike marina cost us 32,250 TL. To renew for this year they wanted 118,000 TL. Other marina chains and stand alone marinas have different prices. 👍
@@SailingABSea OK. ....
We (my wife and me) in Alicante Spain 🇪🇸.....
You 2 always welcome 4 a coffee.
Many thanks for sharing your dreams.
Several Questions this week:
-What did you smuggle?
-How much was the rent on that old building?
-Do you know how to cuss in Turkish - for people parking on your anchor.
-Did you buy a short term or long term marina agreement? Was it a good price?
-Did you wifi end up being good?
-Do you need to do repairs over the winter - or are you OK?
-How long ago was Greece - when you stayed onshore?
-Are you finding the demise of the Lira to your advantage?
-In real time - Turkey changed its name to Turkiye - is it pronounced the same?
(Baz) Experience has taught us to ALWAYS carry our cameras and electronics in a dry bag, that's what we were smuggling.
The rent is two shillings and sixpence per month, that includes utilities.
Strangely we have not learned any swear words. We need to look into that.
We took a 12 month contract so that we can make use of the 30 days free stay in the other Setur marinas along the coast. The price was very reasonable especially as it includes unlimited water and electricity.
The WiFi is very good. Occasional drop outs but that's to be expected.
No major maintenance expenses this winter, thank god.
On the hard in Greece was October 2019 to June 2020.
The demise of the Lira has more than doubled our buying power, however we are now seeing signs of inflation which goes some way to eroding that. There is now 60% tax on all alcohol sales.
The pronouncing of Turkey stays the same.
What did you have for dinner? 😂
@@SailingABSea - Thanks for the thoughtful replies.
Turkiye will remain as Turkey the same way as Hellas has remained as Greece for non Greeks.. It has always been called Turkiye in Turkey (sic) what changed is that Erdo wants to change its international name too, reportedly to alleviate confusion with the bird among English speakers.. Well, he can change the official name but not how the rest of there world calls the country..
@@SailingABSea Does that include beer? If yes, my condolences...
Anything with alcohol in it Niko. Except hand sanitizer, I may start drinking that. LOL 😂
You looked absolutely fried at the end of the video - do you need to get out in the sun more? (j/k) What happened?
(Baz) Just mentally and physically tired mate. It had been a long summer. 👍
Just one question from me, as opposed to others? Are you feeling better?
(Baz) Yes mate, we've just published our latest blogs and next is to write a follow up post to let everyone know my current situation. Thanks for asking. 😀
Happy new year guys! I wonder what made you move to Finike? Did you just fancy a change or was it mooring fees?
Hi Petyr, it was driven by budget. Kas marina prices went up too much, Finike was a lot cheaper and it included unlimited water and electricity.
@@SailingABSea sounds like a very good deal. We have just confirmed our covid-postponed Turkey trip. We sail out of Gocek last 2 weeks of May. Cant wait. May ask your advice..or just rewatch some of your videos, for itinerary advice.
We're always happy to help out by sharing our knowledge of the area. 👍
How is your purchasing power in Turkey these days?
Hi Alex, 1 Aussie dollar used to buy 4 Lira, now it buys almost 10. But we are beginning to see inflation raise prices on almost everything. There is now a 60% tax on alcohol sales.
@@SailingABSea Sounds good for you but stay vigilant, the situation in Turkey is volitale. Be always ready to sail on short notice and stay close to Greece. Watch the news closely if you can. Be safe, cheers! Keep your diesel tanks full at all times, Turkey has no oil, it's an imported commodity.
(Baz) We're hoping that the exchange rate for the Aussie dollar will stay ahead of the inflation in Turkey. The vast majority of Turkish people are poor in economic terms so hopefully the government will understand the needs of the people relative to the cost of living.
I thought running full wake next to anchored boats was rude?
There's a water sport boat that tows screaming kids on an inflatable bed around the anchorage all day.
