    At $US1,599, the X-T2 was a great camera upon release in 2016. Add a rugged shutter and IBIS for only $US100 more 4 years later? That’s pretty incredible already given inflationary pressures. To that add “but wait, there’s more” and one has a street beast of a device.

    As an X-t4 user the high-res sensor, flip-out screen, better AF and battety life are very compelling, but there's no way i can justify to upgrade. The only disappointment is that they didn't increase the buffer size.
    Thank you for the review

    Thanks for the review Dustin! I watched your review of the new Viltrox AF 75mm and was curious if the autofocus issues you noted in that review, with faster moving subjects, may be linked to the af-c in the X-T5.

    Great to have all the choice now: X-T5, X-H2, X-H2s 👌🏼
    X-T5 for me, as I just wanted IBIS in my X-T3. Better battery is an excellent bonus. 40MP another bonus or a curse, depending on how you look at it 😅
    I'm hoping it will 'teach' me to shoot less and shoot better.

    I’d like to hear from some photographers about the XT5 and the shutter button placement. Coming from the XT4, when I put my right finger on the shutter, it seems fairly comfortable, I can’t help but wonder if it’s as comfortable on the smaller XT5? I don’t think I would like having to curve my finger further to get the shot.

    • @aceflibble

      FWIW I've used the X-T1 and the even smaller X-T10 series since they began, and I have pretty large hands and grew up on big integrated-grip full frame and medium format systems, and I've never had a problem with the shutter button placement.
      The only problem I've ever had with this size of Fuji is some of the smaller buttons on the back and top plate get pushed that little bit closer together and my huge thumb sometimes has trouble making sure I only press the one I intend.

    Great video. I will be selling both my X-H1 and X100V to get this little beauty. But like many people, I'd be happy with an X-T3 - if it had IBIS. I don't like the display of the X-T4, which bothers me, because you can get this camera pretty cheap now. But oh well. I don't need more than an X-T5, so I might actually grow old with this one.

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  2 года назад +6

      the noise is ok. But it's just useless to have 40MP

    • @chesslover8829
      @chesslover8829 2 года назад +1

      If one were to use ISOs at 800 and below, it should be okay. But, one might have to upgrade one's lenses to Fuji's very best optics to take full advantage of the new sensor. Like film grain, digital noise is a somewhat subjective phenomenon: some people are more sensitive to it than others, and noise will be a function of image enlargement. That is, the bigger the print, the more noticeable noise will be. Nevertheless, the Fujifilm X-T5 is an excellent camera, and it would be the one I would buy if I were going to focus solely on the APS-C format.

  • @aceflibble
    @aceflibble 2 года назад

    I'll be holding out for your full review, because although I've always liked the X-T1/etc line and usually gladly upgrade every few years, this one has me a bit dubious. I'm really bummed about the step backwards to the clumsier, more limited and infamously fragile tilt screen. I feel Fuji are pandering to a vocal minority of users who simply refuse to even try a fully articulated screen; I've never met anyone who has actually owned a camera with an articulated screen and doesn't like it. There have been too many times when the articulated screen of the X-T4 has enabled me to get a shot in limited space where I otherwise would not have been able to see either the screen or viewfinder, and I love being able to hide/protect the screen when I don't need it. On the other hand, the higher resolution, better medium-high ISO and improved dynamic range (and possibly the pixel shift) would be a really significant help in those same cramped and typically dim conditions. I don't like the feel or look of the H bodies and I have no use for their other features like the extra video options and burst buffer, but I'm thinking for the sake of getting both the screen and sensor I want, I might have to move from T to H this generation. (And at that point I start to think why not get an R5 and get even better IQ...)

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  2 года назад

      I completely agree with your point on the articulating screen. Most of the people who object to them are those who have never used them.

    Great review....mine will finally be arriving tomorrow .... Since locally placing my body only order back in Nov. I do question FUJI's strategy with the body only backorder, (I was 82 on the fulfillment list). I mean the kits (especially with the 18-55) seem to be always available. So this kind of tells me 1)their efforts were concentrated towards folks that weren't in the FUJI system yet 2)needed to offload surplus of lenses. Either one puts the FUJI loyalists in the backseat. Of course I have no proof of the above, just my conspiracy side building up because this spoiled American had to wait...😁

    If you can't take sports shot with 19 frames per second your not a good photographer....10 years ago we used DSLR with 5 frames a second..and nailed shots..seriously come on we don't need 50 frames a second

    • @DustinAbbottTWI
      @DustinAbbottTWI  Год назад

      I think you misunderstood - the problem is not the burst rate, it's the shallow buffer. If the buffer runs out before you capture the key moment (you've only got a couple of seconds), then you miss the shot.

    • @nevvanclarke9225
      @nevvanclarke9225 Год назад

      @@DustinAbbottTWI I still don't think that's a massive issue. If you're shooting birds honestly the birds fly back again and you get them again. I just think we have to be mindful of the capabilities. I do a lot of different types of photography and I'm still shooting a lot of stuff with a Nikon D850 and the buffer rate on that is probably slower than this camera is probably slower than my Fuji film. X - S 10. But you just make it work and it's not a big deal to wait two seconds before you can shoot again. I just don't think it's a massive issue and I think we're getting a bit of obsessed with having totally continuous shooting without stopping... And yes, I'm a pro photographer. Not full time but I do make a reasonable amount of money out of Photography so I'm not some amateur just so you know
