I have been enjoying this challenge. I have been doing a smaller size and writing a quote on the back and putting them in my husband's lunch sack. He was so surprised. I always give him napkin notes, but now I have upped the anti with this challenge. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
That's so sweet!
Learn to tolerate imperfections is my new mantra!
This was the trickiest project in the series for me so far. My paper was square and proportionally didn't lend itself to the many layers of forest, but the outcome remains lovely and the techniques you teach will be handy for many other creative ideas. The mist is so clever and so nicely explained. Thank you!
I finished this one, but I definitely will need to do it again and again! I wasn’t pleased with my first one, I used a smaller piece of paper and didn’t have things spaced enough. I have really enjoyed learning how to use the same colors just darker gradients with each layer. Thanks Kolbie for these days of teaching me these little nuggets!
Thank you again for showing this style of painting and the focus on loose trees. I love the misty effect.
That would be such a gift to win a copy of your wild book! This misty forest is a magical touch for the soul! It's like a gift of imperfection 🍃💚
I have really enjoyed your tutorials. As a beginner, I'm learning so much and enjoying it at the same time. I'm frequently frustrated with the time some lessons take as there's a lot of talking about the artist, their process and then why you should take their class. Your lessons are concise, clear, fun and well explained. I would definitely take a paid class with you!!!
Thanks so much for making your classes fun and approachable.
Who doesn’t love a forest!
Love this series so much. We;; paced, not too much and great instruction.
Love your teaching style you speak calmly which helps us beginners to feel at ease while we follow along thanks
Yesterday I found your 10-day challenge. So glad I did. I am intimidated by painting. I so want to do it but starting is hard. I know I can do it but ....... There is always a but. You have broken down the process into manageable bite-sized chunks. Ten days is long enough to get a feel for painting but short enough to not feel a burden. I have completed Day 1 and look forward to trying Day 2. Many thanks for posting this challenge.
The final result is really satisfying! 😍😍😍
I just wanted to come back to this one and say how much I learned following this tutorial. I didn't realize it until I attempted a painting of a scene I saw while up at a ski area a few weeks later. My foggy, snowy mountain forest scene is now one of my favorite paintings that I've done, and my daughter has it hanging framed on her wall! All thanks to what I learned here!
I loved this project, very durable yet very fun. Love wonky tress.
I love the way you explain/demonstrate the techniques you are using!
Love the concept of mist. I’ve been struggling to get the feel of mist for a while. Can’t wait to dig in.
I’m a day behind it seems, but having fun just the same. Your calm cool manner is a joy! Thanks for the this!!
Love those trees and the mist!
I want to hop into an old VW camper, find this view, and soak it up in person! Can't wait to try this one!
this took me most of the day. I think my paper is a different size and makes it
challenging. I am still a day behind but I am enjoying learning through my mistakes. I like the love and learn I'm going to try to do this on all my paintings. I also like writing down the colors I used. I mixed together burnet sienna and ultra marine blue to get what I thought would make a good paynes grey. this maybe why my colors seemed off. I've never done a challenge like this. Its good to do.
Just lovely ~ I am really enjoying my afternoon of watching and learning. I hope I apply as well as you do ~ I love the coors the mist and the white spaces ~ :) Thank you Kobie.
The misty trees are my favorite. ❤️❤️❤️
I love the pockets of fog. Can’t wait to try this technique!
I am learning so much watching this series - not just from watching you paint and hearing you explain your process, but also in seeing how you review your work after it's complete. The loved/learning section may be my favorite takeaway from this series so far! :)
I am a HUGE fan. I'm new to watercolor, and I love it, but it's been so discouraging because I've been really struggling with how my paintings have turned out. I watch RUclips videos, Instagram, Pinterest, skillshare, you name it..and still have t created anything I'd even show anyone. until I watched your tutorials. The night sky tutorial is the first thing I've ever painted that I am proud of. You are so inspiring, and being able to paint the night sky painting and have it turn out as good as it did, has sky rocketed my modivation and joy for watercolor even more. I'm so glad I came across your channel. I've seen your book in the stores and have been eyeing it for my collection (I have bought several watercolor books) and online and I've been thinking about buying it since landscapes are my passion, so it was very cool to find out that you are the author ! You go girl!!
Such a beautiful effect achieved with this lesson.
That green is absolutely gorgeous! 🌲🏔
Love how you paint trees, thanks for these videos
what an enjoyable experience! I need to practice patience between drying the layers! lol I would get anxious that I was not keeping up! I like that I can pause or go back to review some of the techniques, thank you for this :)
Love it, I've watched many misty forest tutorials before and this one is the clearest, simplest and easiest to succeed I've seen. Tks !
loved this one. the gradient is beautiful.
Super challenging leaving the whites and space. Learning a lot.
So beautiful. I am learning so much. It now seems possible that I may be able to paint decent landscapes.
Thanks for sharing your expertise.
Imperfections are beautiful. Imperfections are beautiful. Over and over!! Thank you!
Great class, I can see that the trees are a challenge for me. I am really enjoying all the techniques!
Great landscape….. this will be a fun one to do……I loved yesterdays night sky…..that was a challenge for me but I really like the results
Loved this tutorial, this time I tried a smaller size paper, and I loved the results!!
I loved this. Your tutorials are so inspiring. I just realized I forgot the final big trees in the front on the left. Oh well, I will add them in when I make it again. Learning how to do the mist was terrific!
The trees are my favorite... I plan on practicing this one lots...💚
So beautiful and realistic landscape.Thank you so much for the wonderful tutorial dear kolbie.😍🤩🤗😊❤💕
I really love watching Hy create. Have seen alot of your videos and learn from each. Thank you so much from a beginner
Loving these tutorials! Learning so much! I think this one is gonna be challenging for me for sure but I’m excited to try!
In my daily life, I put conscious effort into learning something new each day. This challenge is playing a big role on my bullet journal tracker success. Thank you!
thanks so much, Kolbie! by-far my favourite watercolour artist!
You are too kind! ❤️❤️
I think this is my favorite. Looks so mystical and mysterious. Just the vibe I love painting.
I am loving these tutorials. I am learning so much, particularly about layering. I love that you are analysing each piece with what you loved and what you learned, this is something I shall be doing from now on too. Thank you for sharing your work with us xxx
Another good one. Talking about mist is a perfect explanation for adding water and letting it bloom.
“Learned to tolerate imperfection” - a lesson we all need to learn, accept, and live!
I lo e the shade of green you got with that mix.
Thank you for sharing your talent with us! really been enjoying following along!
I am enjoying this so much. I appreciate how thorough you are in explaining the details of each and every layer, how you add those beautiful teaching moments like; the farther something is the lighter it would be and the closer something is the darker it would be. I also enjoy that you use art vocabulary while explaining what it is like when you use the word value. Can't wait for tomorrow.
I love this forest! So excited to try it out!
I just finished today’s painting and really enjoyed it. It’s simple and fun. Thanks!
I absolutely love your tutorials! You make watercolors a doable thing for me. Thank you for being kind enough to share your knowledge. Another great video.
This misty forest is beautiful! I love that we got to practice the techniques from the two previous days. Trees are my favorite thing to paint in a landscape, but I’d love to see more tutorials on mountains and clouds!
I'm really loving this technique! Can't wait to try it later.
I love the way painted trees look… I hate painting them…. So this was definitely a challenge for me. But I did it and will redo until I love it!!
Loved this tutorial, too! I did mine horizontally and wish I had turned it vertically in keeping with the tall trees. Another lesson learned.
I am loving this series. Can’t wait to get home & try this. Wasn’t as happy with my mountains yesterday but your loved/learned section helps me see what I would change, very helpful.
I've had so much fun following your tutorials and I'm learning to trust the process. It has been a great way for me to relax from a hectic day.
Love this, thank you! I live in a redwood forest and I'm committed to practicing this method until I get the look of the redwoods covered in mist below the level where I live. It's lovely.
i am loving these tutorials!
I do love me some misty forest!!! Probably one of my favorite things to paint (or try to paint haha) but this tutorial is so helpful!
I love this! I am definitely going to try to paint my own misty forest. Thank you for sharing your gift and knowledge.
This was such a great tutorial! Had to do it twice. Might come back and do another one.
This was so beautiful! I loved learning how to create that Misty look, and was grateful to practice my tree techniques (and leaving that white space to create the mist and texture). What a great painting again.
I tried painting this misty forest and following your tutorial was really easy! You really take your time explaining all the little details that help the painting really look like a misty forest! I wasn't exactly happy with how mine turned out but I'm really excited to give it another go. Thanks for all the tutorials
Thank you! That was fun! Just trying to get back into painting after many years away.
This has been such a rewarding way to produce something beautiful and learn a few new things along the way. Thank you!
Wow 😮 this has been so freeing and liberating. I’ve always been a perfectionist and that’s why I’ve struggled so much with learning to use watercolour 🎨 I think landscapes could be my thing. Perfectly imperfect.. yet beautiful ☺️ Thank you Kolbie xx 🥰
I love trees and you make them look doable
It's amazing how much the very very light background layers make a difference in the overall depth of the scene. Beautiful
I didn't start the challenge until yestwrday. So far, I've done Day 1 and Day 3. This challenge makes me want to improve my trees. I didn't mind my background trees too much. It's the front ones that I struggle with more. Thanks for hosting this challenge.
I’m enjoying this challenge so much! Love how you explain how some things are intentional and how some things are just “go with the flow”. 👏🏽
Love watching it all come together. It's hard seeing the individual steps/layers, but as I keep hearing... trust the process. Thanks!
That tree in front really brings it together for me! I can't wait to have some time to do a painting with so many layers!
Your lessons are pure joy!
Loving this challenge & learning so much!
Great tutorial, thank you Kolbie 💐 It's getting more sophisticated everyday, I'm so excited!
Loved this! it was so much fun to do.
your tutorials are great! easy to follow!
These are so informative! I appreciate your ease in teaching, and that imperfection is perfection with these landscapes!
Love your tutorials and todays version especially 💕 letting loose is always a bit of a challenge, but I learned to embrace the messes I create! Thanks for being an awesome human being and amazing teacher 🙌🏼💕
I’ve always wanted to learn to paint the mist inside a forest it is one of my favorite panoramas so calming and beautiful!
I really need to practice my trees so this was a great place to start!
I'm loving these tutorials. They are getting me back into watercolor painting. Thank you!!!
Your forest paintings are so great. It's amazing what you can do with the same paint colors and only very small variations. 😍
Thanks Kobie!! Another great tutorial, now I'm ready to go hike in that forest! Beautiful work!!
Beautiful! I want to be walking in that forest 🌳
Oh, i love this one! I envy your trees… and appreciate seeing how you paint them. Thank you for the tutorial & the easy explanations.
Another wonderful lesson chock a block full of good information, techniques, and beautiful results.
This is so much fun! As soon as I roll out of bed I’m checking out the video for the day. Thank you so much 😊
Catching up on these tutorials now! :) I was seeing the results all over my IG feed and wanted to join in the fun. I feel like I've come a long way with my watercolor practice, and I'm so happy I can keep up with these. I do love the practice of seeing what I loved and what I learned with each piece.
Really enjoyed watching you. Layering is still something I have to practice. I do it, but am always so worried that I'm going to get it wrong.
SO calming Kolbie!
Perfect imperfection. need to learn.
I really need to practice trees. This challenge has been really amazing, thank you so much.
Love this! So excited to be following you.
Great tree tip - bottom to top. Love how you created the FOG. Thanks for a great tutorial!
This taught me so much about white space!
