I've been psyching myself out for *months* trying to get back in the creative groove. I couldn't even doodle. I've been swatching for the last few days and thanks to you, today I have a painting in an old sketchbook that I'm determined to use up. It looks like hell, but not nearly as bad as I expected it to. I'm going to keep going with the daily challenge/tutorials. Thank you for making these lessons available and brief (much less daunting to me personally). I already bought your book, too.

Hi Kolbie. Thankyou for your tutorials . I’m loving them.. except today’s, I failed miserably. I’ve never used gouache before apart from splashing stars. I can’t seem to get it right. I will try this one again once I’ve finished the complete challenge. ❤

"imperfection is realistic" I am definitely fighting my brain against this. I hope water colour helps with this. Metaphor is so helpful for the brain to learn new ways to think.

Hi Kolbie, I am in tears. Happy Tesrs. When you said, this is time well spent, I felt my whole soul relax. Until now, I didn’t recognize how tense I was painting. I am a beginner. I can be hard on myself to do well. Some how, your words broke through the unknowing restrictions I put upon myself. I took up watercoloring for joy. I thank you. 🙏🏼

I love this one ! So fun - and I had an easier time following than I did on Day Three. I'll do this little painting over and over again- and experiment with different details/colors. 🙂

This was a tough one. I made two attempts and wasn't happy with either. I feel like this one is as much about managing water as it is about perspective. Distant trees are smaller and lighter - got it. But how do you integrate wet on wet and wet on dry, how to make those decisions along the way? I needed more of that. Still, tomorrow is another day and I love your painting and teaching style. On to Day Four tomorrow!!

My struggle is getting the value of the first layers light enough without ending up with too much water. That said, I will do this little painting over and over. I just love it. Having a jigsaw puzzle going at the same time helps with the patience! 😂

Love watching you paint and the fact you explained an error (which no one else would have guessed) is a massive confidence boost for leaners. My problem is white page syndrome. Just starting is hard for me! Your videos are helping me get over this! Thank you!
