Hello, Yechnically I do not know what sensor it is but it is some kind of optical sensor which senses the break in the rail before it hits the side wall of the cutter. If yours is broken off, bent or you can not fix it the part is availiable here : uscutter.com/uscutter-sc2-vinyl-cutter-replacement-parts/ You would have to get the whole carriage. If you call them perhaps they can just send out the small green borard that the sensor is on. We used to do that but not sure these days. Most of the time you can bend the snsor back into place and then place the black squarish cover that you will see goes over the sensor, which uncovered looks like a small crystal bulb.
I apologize for the late reply. If the sensor board on the carriage is broken its important to make sure that the sensors connected to that board are reconnected by resoldering them back on if possible. If not then yu would have to get another carriage sensor board or it may automatically come with a purchase of a new carriage. Sometimes the sensors can get bent back and all they need is repositioned. uscutter.com/uscutter-sc2-vinyl-cutter-replacement-parts/ Let me know if this helps.
Hi Seth, I apologize for the late reply. If you are refering to the black, square sensor in the video mainly I have been able to use a small amount of hot glue from a hot glue gun. Just a few drops of glue work. This really depends. If the sensor is just bent because it struck something then just being it back as long as it does not appear to be broken on one side. If the sensor is broken off at the leg, it will need to be soldered, then restraightened out, lastly you can place the black cover on it with hot glue seating it firmly at a right angle. If the sensor is unrepaiable, you'll have to desolder it out of the holes on the board and get another one or a part replacement as a whole. I am not sure what the sensor itself is called. uscutter.com/uscutter-sc2-vinyl-cutter-replacement-parts/ You can ask USCUtter if they have an carriage control boards for the SC2. They might.
Hi Hakalid, I believe for the Y position error there can be a couple of issues that I readily know about. I believe that the Y error is when the carriage gets stuck or at one time it was stuck and possibly moved a pinch roller sensor and that small sensor needs to be slowly and carefully re-positioned, straightened out. Its a black/block looking piece that hangs down and has a back and front to it. This should be under the carriage. Second is that I have heard if a lot of dist and debris builds up on a clear plastic piece that is at the bottom of the Y motor which controls the carriage, it can have an error. You can take the plastic cover off of the bottom of the motor and clean carefully with a Q-tip but no cleaning solution. See if that helps. The carriage could be catching under the top cover and cause the motor so suddenly work hard and trip the alarm or cause the error. Make sure that all flat ribbon cables are fully connected and aren't creasing/folding. If the carriage is giving the error and also the carriage trying to come back to the home position but starts hitting the side wall instead that can also be because the sensor, the small black piece is broken or bent. The sensor would also be under the carriage cover on top of the small green carriage board. That could be bent or broken off. You then can select PDF as the download choice. I am thinking that the assembly and disassembly section will help. I hope this helps. Let me know.
Hello, I would say to use a 9 pin serial adapter. Even though the USB port is damaged the serial port normally works fine. This could be Tripplite, prolific or another brand. I believe that the USB port is integrated with the motherboard. I'd try to replace it. When sending a cut to the cutter what happens? I wonder if nothing happens or the carriage tries ti move and makes a grinding noise.
Brilliant. It has just been knocked slightly. Back working in 30 secs thanks to you!
Can you order the little circuit board with the sensor from somewhere?
Hi may I know where this sensor is available
Can you please tell me the name of the sensor
