Hey everyone, I've got a pretty big update for y’all today. Over the past month I've been working on bringing content to the Outback Canyons biome.
    New Enemies
You can now find 4 different types of enemies in this biome.
The Scorpion has a dangerous acid attack that it can use from a distance and a powerful melee attack if you get too close.
The Roller is a creature made of rock who will curl up into a ball and charge the player if you get too close. It also has a habit of causing a high amount of collateral damage.
The Mummy is an undead creature that can use a variety of weapons such as Axes, Boomerangs and Molotov's.
The Willy Willy is a creature that manipulates air currents to create powerful tornados to fling the player (and everything around it) into the air.
    New Weapons
I have added various new weapon types and variants to the game.
The Axe is a melee weapon with a long reach.
The Boomerang is a ranged weapon that always returns to the player and can pass through multiple enemies and even damage the same enemy again on return.
The Shield can be used to block melee and ranged attacks to help you survive hostile encounters
The Molotov can be thrown at a target to set them alight but beware of the fires it may start
You can now find and use Copper and Steel Arrows with a Bow.
There are now also Steel variants of the Dagger, Sword and Hammer.
    New Locations
You can now also find various ruins in the Outback Canyons that hold great reward if you can defeat their unsavory occupiers.
    New Simulations
I have also added some new voxel simulations to the game to support some of the new enemy attacks.
Oil: This fluid is flammable and if lit on fire it will burn and spread fire as it flows.
Acid: This dangerous fluid will hurt and dissolve anything it comes into contact with.
Sand: Sand and Gravel will now be affected by gravity and will spread out in a natural way.

Could I suggest a new material? Lost Technology, something to go with the magic system, imitates it but has its own sub categories and perks, it would also go with the lore.

I just realized something: I have never seen a game so dedicated to being in the voxel genre. Even the scorpion acid and particles of the flames were made out of voxels! This is really cool for me and makes the game seem really visually distinct, somehow without compromising on visual quality. Excellent work!

I do wonder if you could give them more reaction to their timing, instead of slowly turning around, give it spice, give it character, give it spaz, give it a unique feel as if you messed with the wrong entity as they dramatically turn around, instead of slowly spins around.
Oh and one more thing, give them a reaction for being hit, it does not need to stun them by performing a animation, just add the animation to the aftermath of getting hit, like, more ways of reacting than the usual, makes them more alive.
(Also just an idea, give those scorpions spider like movements, make the players be afraid of their quick little legs as they move back and forth in one spot with little animation movement, it would be freaky and immersive, or do you have a spider enemy in mind, if so, this would be great).
And just a thought, could you add something to the UI, not the inventory but the space around it, I want some sort of feel that I have a body and not a floating hand like Minecraft, how about a feetcher (don't know how to spell) that when you look down you see your body, don't make it over the top just subtle bits. Like a bar in settings for how much your arm wants to bobble.
These are all suggestions and ideas, you may ignore them if that's not what you are going with, although it would pay off in the end, call it, polishing the gameplay.

You managed to add on to such a brilliant concept and knocked it out the park! 3d Voxel games try to replicate Minecraft but you reimagine it in such a lovely way. From the animations and use of more detailed voxel models. Hope this game finds its way to us soon 🙏

This is getting better and better, so much potential. If you turned this into a game engine (like something you can build a game like minecraft on top of just by providing yaml/json files/coding in lua or javascript), this could literally change the face of gaming. so many minecraft map makers and video game devs would just start using this instead of building on top of minecraft.

  • @KeterMalkuth
    @KeterMalkuth 7 месяцев назад +10

Suggestion; With regards to the damaging interactions, like the burning oil and acid, maybe add a small spray of particles upon impact to give them a sense of momentum and energy. Not necessarily anything that would do damage by itself, but something that could cause problems over time as a fight goes on and that would add a sense of scale and danger. Think an oil bottle hitting the ground and a spray of small embers beginning to sizzle on the walls and surfaces within a few feet of the impact. Same with the acid, just a small smoke effect sizzling up from the surfaces around the impact.
I love your work! I'll be joining your patreon once my financial situation stabilizes. Looking forward to future progress.

  • @Swagodactyll
    @Swagodactyll 7 месяцев назад +5

Something I think would be really cool to see, but idk the difficulty or the tax of implementing it:
Have attacks on enemies take off some of their voxels. Like just the surface voxels of the point of contact. This could be a fun (or not) rabbit hole of complexity to go down as well. Making it so that as they get damaged or even dismembered on certain parts, it kinda debuffs things like movement speed, attack speed or damage, defense etc.
Idk if there is actual physical contact being detected between the weapon and the enemies or not, though. If not you could maybe do pre-fab damage states for each enemy for certain health thresholds, so they start looking more and more beat up.

I feel like this would benefit from a timed parry system, so you don't have to tank damage if you don't have a shield, but it would still be more difficult to block attacks with parrying than to use a shield. Heavy and/or special attacks would be cool as well to add yet another layer to combat. But this is looking really neat so far, keep it up!

Just a slight quality of life thing to add that May or may not be in the works - when receiving healing I would add a projected amount of healing bar (gray color bar maybe or transparent light red) that slowly gets covered by the normal health bar. Gives visual feedback to the player.

I think it would be better if the spider walked with its back backwards, otherwise it looks weird when it shows its back to the enemy and spends a lot of time turning. Keeping his eyes on the enemy, he can dodge, preparing for another attack. If the enemies behave more thoughtfully, I think this game will become really cool and popular. I'll have to get this game when it comes out! and a few suggestions would be:
    1. make the enemies different when they die, so maybe they are effected much more from physics, so they don't awkwardly fall over.
    2. make it so the attacks from the player and enemies have more omph. Like maybe when throwing bombs, you can control how much powers there is.
    3. adjust the gravity/weight of things, to make them heavier. Like when things fall, it speeds up much more and can smash things much harder. (that would also make the boss cooler)
but damn does your game look sick

I can see this having more modding potential than even Minecraft! Super good foundation so far, good job!

I would love to see a lot more on the magic system! There's already quite a few interesting spells, and from what we've seen of the spellcrafting system, it looks like it's going to be quite modular. I'd love to see that! The starting material determining the casting method(like a beam of magic), and the second and third to fourth ingredients being the effect(damage, levitation) and enhancers(more damage, levitate bigger objects, etc) and elements(fire, ice, and the like). I'd also love to see stuff like *summoning* these creatures to fight on your behalf rather than doing all the work, and they'd slowly decay.
Ohhh! Idea! Runes. Not just the ones you put on your weapon, no, like runic circles and such. Like, a permanent regeneration effect in an area or something.
I am curious if you've considered armor, too. There doesn't seem to be anything in the inventory for that, and the health and mana pool have wildly fluctuated, but there's so many interesting ways to do wearable gear from plate armor to wizard's robes.
This game has so much potential! I'm rooting for you!

One thing you can do is add momentum to the liquids. For example, at 4:20 (nice) where you throw a vial of oil against a tree, the oil should retain the inertia that it had when it was in the vial. In this case, it should've splattered against the tree, not spawned in a ball next to it.
Great job though. Very cool game.

Would be nice to see some per creature death animations, Skeletons collapse into bones, that tornado mob maybe dies in a puff of wind (Maybe even pushes the player), scorpions could collapse and flatten a bit maybe. I feel individual death animations really bump this up a notch for me. Just my thoughts watching this, been keeping an eye on this for a while and I'm very intrigued. Will definitely get on steam.

It's looking really good, I just think you should maby change the combat hit feedback from the minecraft style red flash and 90° fall over effect, to something else, like pieces of voxels falling of when you hit an enemy, and them falling apart when killed or something that fits better
