Today they’re in West London helping a woman so swamped with clothes it’s proving difficult to get through her bedroom door.
In Surrey a former air stewardess might know how to keep all the exits clear but has still cluttered up other spaces with mementoes from her world travels.

I love the exterior of Jan's house. Too many mismatched pillows on get couch for my taste, but I was glad to see her so happy.
That bedroom looked a bit like what mine used to look like. My mountains were a bit smaller but I felt like it looked so familiar. For me it was depression, not hoarding. But no matter what it was, it's better to have it emptied out.
Finally... someone telling him to put those things online! He gets much more for the things from his costumers! Only took him 3 episodes! 🤦
Great video. Always fascinated with programmes like these. We all possess some of the difficulties and problems of these hoarders but probably not to this extent. We all have that idea that something is worth collecting or holding on to with the view that it's valuable and could be worth something but before long we realise that we've accumulated so much. And after all things are only as valuable as what people are willing to pay for it. And some items probably have some sentimental value. But sooner or later we all need to make that huge step forward and discard of things for our own sanity and peace of mind. Well done for the teams helping these people.
the creeping of clutter can be subtle. things we use for years may quietly fade into the background, unrecognised as unneeded, but kept as familiar... like death in a cupboard, taking up prime space, but secretly shoving other things to the surface, making a mess.
tastes change technology changes, needs change, life's seasons end... unnoticed... last week it was tidy and useful, then at 3 17 one tuedsay afternoon, the house loses its edges and it feels a bit messy but we dont know why... then next month, one is drowning in stuff... clutter by stealth..

My thought, too. I'm a minimalist, and just the few things I have are sometimes "too much," even though they're in constant use. The rooms in those houses would have me running out the door as fast as my chubby legs could carry me.

I really expected a deeper cleaning, but I guess every little improvement is a step towards "normality"
I like this show, it encourages me to get to it. The closet of the 2nd person drives me crazy though... so much wasted space, add a few risers and the shelves wouldn't be 2/3rds empty space above the items, you could store twice as much just as neatly.
I wouldn't call the 'after' a clutterfree space tbh

Both of those homes still looked so cluttered to me, but I can't stand "decorative" pillows, and dust-collecting knickknacks. At least they can each move around, so that's a positive.

Large old house turned into apartments. Purpose made apartments in UK don't have such high ceilings
She buys too much stuff! Everything you purchase is going to take up space somewhere in your house. It's best to only buy things that you need. My clutter consists of junk other people give me that I don't need. I only buy things I'm going to use.

Can anyone tell me how old this show is?
I know this is at least two years after your question, but I just watched the show today.
I believe it's around 12 years old; there was a plethora of hoarder shows being made in both the States and the UK/Britain from around 2009 through roughly 2017-ish. This, by the looks of the clothes being worn, was around 2012, maybe a year either way.
Does anyone else agree that this is Child Abuse if you have children living in a disgraceful mess like this??
Imagine if the child wanted to bring friends over or someone found out how messy the house is, she would be bullied like MENTAL in school because of this. This is NOT Fair at all on the child nor is it safe.
In MY Opinion, if you are living in a house like this with a child, your child should be taken away from you and placed somewhere far safer and better, because clearly you do NOT care about your child's health or safety at all more than you do your own house!!

You are joking. This house is simply messy. It is in no way a danger or embarrassment to the child. That is absurd.

No, a child does not need to be removed from such a home---the house is clean, it's just loaded with stuff, not trash.
Perhaps when you finally become a human being, you'll understand that things like clutter happen, and it isn't the end of the world. There are children living in much worse circumstances who would be delighted to live in a home like that, where the mother loves her child and provides well for her.

There are millions of hoarders because they are treated as victims. They are not, they are selfish, manipulative narcissists. The victims are their neighbors. Cleaning hoarders' houses just gives them room to hoard again. Force them to leave their homes by imprisoning them or putting them in a home.
Like the ladies' son said while helping that she has always been like this. Also flip flop on her jobs, frequent moves. To me it seems like there is more going on that household clutter and shopping.
What a waste of prison space that would be. I can just see the other inmates asking the newly incarcerated person what they did to get time in "the big house:" "Oh, I hoarded stuff, enough that some vile thing thought I should be imprisoned for my mistake of liking my deceased mother's things."
There wouldn't be a prisoner among them who would agree with the writer of the unkind comment (capitalmover).
