Thank you so much for this video. I was clueless and was spending 1 hr to just water using watering cans and it was getting old fast. After watching your video i went straight to Harbor Freight and purchased a pump. I am now a happy gardener.
I actually don't mind at all doing it with bottles & watering cans; means on those days i get my 10,000 steps in before 9am 😁✌🏾 Have been having some real issues getting a fitting for the water barrel tap, everything else is setup ~ even with the recommended size water just seems to be spilling out over the fitting which is just a waste, so not yet getting to use the hose.. although this wkend we are gonna get a rubber seal with a clip & clamp/screw that on.. Should be able to work from that come the really warm mornings in the summer.
Thank you! This is exactly the information I was looking for. Also, thankyou for a to-the-point video, without all the blah-blah-blah that most people start with!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO. I was just saying this morning..."carrying these cat litter jugs with water "is" good exercise for my arms...but it could get old real fast. Bless you and your little man James!!! What a great helper!
nice video. if you change the gate valve to a ball valve you will get a lot more flow to your hose pipe and may not need the pump depending on the water volume. A gate valve only opens a small hole for water to pass through while a ball valve opens to the inside diameter of the valve. Just a thought.
If that pump doesn't add a pressure switch, add a pressure switch or have someone add a pressure switch. No need to constantly keep your line open and waste water.
Thanks for the info, but I made this setup as simple as possible and usually we have the hose in place before turning on the pump. I just did it this way for the video.
Ryobi power sprayer the cheaper one for 50 dollars gives you more pressure and goes as far as a garden hose will let you go with no electric and has alot more uses and cost about the same as the pump.ryobi has 2 power sprayers and I'm speaking of the cheaper one
Do you reckon this would work via solar power? I been growing food for decades & need a break from the old style watering & set up an irrigation system like this. Awesome work x @@jillsbutterflyvideos9318
@@helnyson4694 Yes, it's a little more involved to setup but easily doable. There's a couple videos on RUclips like this one: ruclips.net/video/KFpxhLTaz14/видео.html - I haven't setup a solar one myself but from what I understand, generally you'll want a 12v DC water transfer pump, 12v battery, charge controller, and solar panel.
It is this pump from Amazon, but if I designed this again, I would spend a little more to get an on-demand pump. MEDAS 330 GPH 115V 1/10HP Auto Portable Water Transfer Pump Utility Pumps with Suction Hose Kit a.co/d/4m3bWj9
Thank you everyone for all the feedback! I improved my system with an on-demand pump. Check out my new video: ruclips.net/video/zEGTp945Cpo/видео.htmlsi=nC3eUUpXqS04AeMQ

Just wht i need to hear today. Just filled watering an 4 times this morning and decided there's got to be a better solution. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this info. I appreciate it as well as all the feedback you got in the comments. It's all been very helpful.
That is awesome! I am going to diy a similar solution but with a 12v pump instead. Thank you :)
Id add a filter b/t the barrel and the pump too.
Awesome !!

Thanks , i love it.

Or transfer water up to a tank above your greenhouse, especially if you collect more than you need.

I DO have a pretty decent hill garden. I’ll give it a try but it’s much higher than 5’. Might be more like 20 feet above . Ideas?
Can you please give us the name of the pump?
🙏
This is the pump that I use: MEDAS 330 GPH 115V 1/10HP Auto Portable Water Transfer Pump Utility Pumps with Suction Hose Kit a.co/d/7Bjk2zX
what kind of spray gun is that ?
That's a great question. No reply as yet though!
Use a on-demand pump and you won't have to waste water. The pump kicks on & off when the nozzle is opened & shut.
Can you please tell us the manufacturer or source for your greenhouse? Thank you.
It is Palram Grand Gardener
Check this out.
pressure vs flow
But where do you plug the pump in?
The outdoor outlet is right beside the pump.
