  • The Doors was an American rock band which formed in Los Angeles, California, United States in 1965. The band consisted of Jim Morrison (vocals), Ray Manzarek (organ), Robby Krieger (guitar) and John Densmore (drums). In this configuration, the band released six albums, all of which were successful and released two US #1 hit singles - 1967's "Light My Fire" and 1968's "Hello, I Love You".
UCLA film school students Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek had known each other at college and met by chance on Venice beach in July 1965. Morrison told Manzarek he had been writing songs and, at Manzarek's encouragement, sang "Moonlight Drive". Manzarek immediately suggested they form a band.

The Doors had a unique sound for the times, and it's still a classic and unique sound today.

"The Doors" came NOT from Huxley but from visionary English poet William Blake: " "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear for what it is, infinite."

Thanks so much, we love Doors fans! We made your corrections on the (Extended version). Please watch, on that one we fixed the whole left hand Fender Rhodes and added William Blake on that one as well.

Definitely one of the best sixties bands. Don’t care much for the Beatles. Jim was wild and unpredictable and probably had his share of fun, yet I see a lot of sadness in his eyes sometimes. He really had a glow up from his teens as well- from moderately decent looking teen to a very striking young man.

Jim and his dad were a lot a like both were ambitious and intelligent

Jim's father may have been very instrumental in the start of the Vietnam War. He was the task force commander at the Gulf of Tonkin incident and was probably responsible for sending the cable to LBJ that set it all off.

You also have it wrong that Ray M played bass keyboard with his right hand and main keyboard with his left---it was the exact opposite, and Ray said The Doors did have a bass player, named "Lefty."

Thank you for your input. You are spot on, we cut the part of right hand-left hand as that was edit error. It should be up shortly. We apologize and are very passionate about The Doors. Good catch!

I heard Jim Morrison's father was Admiral George Morrison. He was an Admiral on an US aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean sea on June 8, 1967 when the USS Liberty was attacked by ( I can't say by who or I will get another bad boy strike from RUclips for offensive speech). Fighters were launched to help save the USS Liberty but upper ups in the US Navy ordered the fighter back as not to offend an alley for defending ourselves. I heard Admiral Morrison was fit to be tied.

He was also commanding a ship in the Gulf of Tonkin that claimed to have been attacked by North Vietnam.
So Admiral Morrison helped start the Vietnam War. It's no wonder Jim told people that he didn't have parents.

We all know, the ship was probably never really fired on but, an excuse to go to war.

Jim never stared straight into the camera and yelled out "higher!" on the Ed Sullivan Show. That was the movie bullshit. He sang it normally, just as on the recording. Overall, this video is flawed. Maybe do some research before putting out the video.

Should have added an eleventh thing you might not know about The Doors. "The Doors were a rock band from the 1960s."
Also, please teach your AI how to pronounce, "Manzarek".

Interesting that Robby said the Sullivan thing never happened. I’d read that when told they would never play Sullivan again, Jim said, “We already played Sullivan.” Quite the double entendres.

Bonus fact. "But have you seen the Blake" Scene from Red Dragon, movie based on the novel from Thomas Harris. Incredible book and 3rd movie revolving around Hannibal Lecter, eerie. The more you learn, the more you understand that everything/everybody is connected 1 way or another. 6 degrees of separation, or if your Kevin Bacon😮
