You're a tough one, Gary! I would've given up by now & bought a new one! I have same weed trimmer! Having heck of a time getting cover off! Not getting spark, so in trying to get to other end of sparkplug wire. After watching you disassemble it, not sure I wanna bother! Thanks so much for sharing! And congratulations, my friend!

I have the same trimmer but it is labeled as a Craftsman. It starts but immediately stalls, I believe the screen arrestor is clogged with carbon, but on that particular model there doesn't seem to be any way to access the muffler. That plastic "bubble" is a solid piece that covers the muffler. Sears says it is not serviceable by the consumer and you have to take it to them to be fixed. That would cost more than it's worth. When I buy I new one, at last I will know enough next time to not buy that design. I couldn't quite tell from your video if you could have accessed the muffler once you had it all apart. Maybe I'll try taking it all apart before tossing the trimmer in the trash. This is all new to me......

You might put another turn on the recoil spring to take up slack in the cord.I just took one of these apart to do just that(had a heck of a time getting the clutch retaining screw out).

I really appreciate your video, I've followed all the way in disassembly. But I'm having a problem getting tension on the pull cord. I've taken it appart twice. The rope won't pull. Help

Could you please tell us what kind of screwdriver we need to remove the clutch drum screw ? You mentioned it’s Torx but what size and where I can find that special screwdriver ?
    Thanks

Hello Gary, I'm at the 2:15 point, and I don't understand how you got the clutch loosened. I try to turn it, but the piston is moving and preventing torque. Did you pack the piston chamber with something?

+Jeffrey Lane , I removed the spark plug and using a screwdriver I pushed the long white rope into the cylinder enough so that it locks up the piston and does no damage to the inside.

+Gary Wright Yep that did it thanks. I had an extra piece of string laying around, so I jammed it in there. Now my next project, figuring out where the oil leak is coming from.

Jeffrey Lane I have several old engines that have gone kaput and one of the problems is there is a round plastic cap screwed to the back of the cylinder and that holds in the compression. The oil mixture accumulates there and wear allows the crankshaft to rub all the way through.

+Gary Wright Thanks for the tip. I looked it over real good and it's possible it was seeping out of the muffler. Perhaps I had the mixture too rich for so long that it was seeping out the exhaust and then all points south everytime. I've sprayed it down with brake cleaner but will take off the plastic cap, before putting it back together to see if it works.

I have the same Poulan. I bought a brush trimmer attachment. When i went back to the string trimmer, the front shaft wouldn't go on far enough to latch. Any ideas?

I’ve replaced the rope started and a recoil spring but when I put it all back together the rope won’t pull. I can’t get a bit of help to figure out why.

Did you tension the coil before you wind the rope up?

I have this model, really like it until I had to replace the starter rope. I wish they had designed this better, as the rope does wear out and break. But your video explains it pretty good.

I admire your patience but you will find out it is very hard and labor intensive to keep one of those running very long. As a general rule with these, if the recoil is not on the back of the engine, I wouldn’t buy it. I would spend a little more money and get something much better. These only last a few years at best if you take care of them. You need to adjust the carb on your Pullin’ Pro.

Wish the video was more howto and less of just the cliffnotes. This video showed me what to do but not how to do it.
