Very nice. I really like the penguin as well. Maybe it was my eyes or my screen but that seemedore like a burnt orange rather than red. Sure can't go wrong with a penguin. Really liked the video.
It's a darker red. I think I had the lighting wrong. It's definitely a different color that what's in the video. I'm glad you pointed that out. I'll have to pay more attention to my camera and lighting. Thank you!

Well a nice addition, the red micarta is one of my favourites. Up to the bronze/brass one. John send you some very nice stickers, the shiney ones are super. Thank you for the extended unboxing buddy.
When the Penguin was 30 bucks it was an awesome knife. The wild success has caused QSP to get delusions of grandeur in the pricing of their newer models. While the Penguin has suffered some price creep it can still be considered a good buy if not a fantastic one as was. Solid 4/5 for me.
I'm suprised that it still only costs $32. I figured they would have raised it much more by now, with it becoming so popular. The Titanium versions with higher grade steel are a little pricey, that's for sure!

When these first came out, I had to have one like every other knife nut on the planet. So I couldn't find one of the base models. Ended up buying a Knives Plus Exclusive Raindrop Carbon Fiber Laminate over G10, S35VN and it was not that expensive, I think it was like $70. Nice knife, but I hate CF laminate overlays, always slick as snot. But the action, smooth very smooth.
Definately an awesome knife. John over at Gratefulpanic Knife Reviews is an awesome brother for sure. I also got the QSP Parrot great knife for $20. Both make great gifts as they just work great for not alot of money. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
You can't go wrong getting a Penguin first, then getting the more expensive one I guess. They are both nice knives. My Hawk has issues I need to figure out, but everybody else seems to love their Hawk.

I really love their micarta. That red looks amazing.
Some of the other knives have micarta that feels like plastic, but I gravitate towards the ones that feel like fabric and will patina with use.

The base model is still $32-$33 . The pricier models have upgraded materials hence the higher price . Still seems acceptable to me .
@@BeezBlades I think $90 for 154CM and Ti Frame lock is a deal. They have great fit/finish as well.

The parrot is better 20$ for d2 blue g10, better blade shape and cheaper, unless you want the cool carbon fiber and g10 designs

I grabbed a penguin when they first came out. It’s held up well and it’s still a bargain, even though the Price has crept up a couple bucks.

They are smooth for sure. Now you can get them everywhere hahaha. You got some nice steel. I'm seeing them in 154CM with some nice scales.

You can't go wrong getting a Penguin first, then getting the more expensive one I guess. They are both nice knives. My Hawk has issues I need to figure out, but everybody else seems to love their Hawk.
