I'm so excited for this. I actually met Fran Beecher when in the mid-80s in Pennsylvania. I went with my father into George's Music to get strings or something, I was like 16 and just starting to play. The store manager came over and said "hey kid, want to meet someone special? This is Fran Beecher from Bill Haley and the Comets and he invented rock and roll". We shook hands and I thought he seemed like a very nice older gentleman! The intro was maybe too much hyperbole, but still, talk about shake the hand that shook the hand...
Another fantastic lesson and the bonus of learning about guitar players I had never heard of before . The original Rock and Roll and etc players never got the credit the deserved .
Outstanding! I'm so glad to see you focus on some of Franny Beecher's incredible work. Although it seems most rock fans and rock guitar players don't know his name, unbeknownst to them they listen to and play so many things that were influenced by him. Nicely done, Adrian!
Franny Beecher was actually the FIRST Rock & Roll lead guitarist folks. Danny Cedrone played the lead solo on the studio version of "Rock Around The Clock" but he never played with Bill Hailey on stage so Franny was the first. Even George Harrison admired him and called him an influence on his guitar playing. Before George Harrison and Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck and all the other greats there was Franny Beecher. He was a pioneer. I met him in PA through his granddaughter who used to cut my hair.
Cool. Nice tone for this lesson too. I used to listen the solo in Rock around the clock on my mums old 45 when I was a kid, and grew up wondering why this bloke was never mentioned in guitar magazines like Cliff Gallup was. Cheers for the lesson Adrian 😊
Hi Adrian. I love the diversity of what you do versus most RUclips guitar teachers. Any chance of a lesson on "The Conversation" by Texas please? Great song, great riff...yours hopefully!
NICE! There is cool video of Comets from a movie with some cool showmanship like 3 playing a guitar! Damian Bacci has some Franny lessons on his channel
Though not super into Bill Haley the guitar work is cool, I like this one and some great playing on 'A rocking little tune'. There is also a mad novelty track I like 'Jellybean' by the Nitecaps which I have read is actually the Comets moonlighting.
Thanks for highlighting Franny Beecher -the greatest unsung guitar virtuoso in rock history. Unfortunately, your RUclips cover image for this lesson is not Franny, but a later guitarist from the mid-60s.
Hi Adrian at about 13.00 you talk about the 5 chord E, however you describe the notes played as if you are referring to an A chord, that is you say flat 3rd, 3rd etc of A not E so really he's playing A stuff over the E..?
I have met Franny a handfull of times....great guy RIP. But please put a picture up of Franny. You are using a picture of a later line-up of the band. Franny is nowhere to be seen.

Dang Adrian! Your lessons get better and better all the time! Love it! Glad you are exposing Franny Beecher to the world!

I was waiting for this. Franny Beecher (along with Danny Cedrone) doesn't get the respect he deserves.
Great lesson as always Adrian... I hear the Stray Cat's and Brian Setzer.....guess who came first....never heard of Franny Beecher until this lesson
My favourite Comets tune and a great lesson, thank you Adrian!

Another special one from the man. Thanks for teaching and sharing.

Interesting about his back story - the overall feel of this really does resemble Benny Goodman.

Intro made me think of Twenty Flight Rock.
Would love to see some Brian Setzer/Stray Cats on your channel!
Yeah! Rock This Town!
Cool
Thanks 😁
Like deployed 👍

What pickups are in that guitar? I'm looking to swap out the humbuckers in my offset guitar. Thanks Al

🤠 👍👍👍
Didn’t Bill Haley “steal” some of his music from Hank Williams?

Thanks wondering what gauge of pick you use
Flatwounds is the way to go for the sound. 12-52
Fender heavy mostly.
@@rayfromvegas yes, I've not got a guitar set up with flat wounds at the moment, but I must do it soon.
@@acpg So, you need to stop Goofin' Around & slap on them flatwounds, to resume Goofin' Around 😊
