"Tetanus Shot", sure. We all know you waited to upload it now because I literally just watched your OoT Skybox video. I'm onto you, Any... if that's even your real name.
Week 5 of suggesting this: You should really include "Drakkhen" on SNES in your skyboxes series. The game is an open-world 3D RPG with a day and night cycle, and amazing vibey music. Please at least check out the game!
Yo didn't expect seeing you here, I swear I see your comments all over the place on everything Majora's Mask related. Fairly sure I saw one of your comments on the Marble Pawns "Zeldawave II"
I think that the rain on the second day is more about producing a feeling of disappointment and melancholy rather than urgency. After everything is bright and sunny on the first day, this is like a solemn moment when everyone is beginning to lose hope and realize that the moon is actually falling. This is probably about the point when many of the NPC's dialogue goes from "There's no way that the moon is falling!" to "Oh, shit, it really is falling... This is going to negatively impact the festival, isn't it?" It is about disillusionment and the sickening realization that things might not actually turn out okay in the end.
I took it as just a sign that things are still going along as usual. If you just stop the moon, everything else in the world will continue as if nothing happened. Just that bit of continuity. That and reinforcing the groundhog day loop because it ALWAYS rains on day 2.
12:47 That guy's actually the part-timer that works at night. The owner is the one who's there during the day; he changes into a different outfit and is the one who runs the Curiosity Shop at night. The part-timer actually is working part-time because he's in a band that apparently isn't making much money. You can see him in a tree in Termina Field trying to get some red rupees during the day. He says he stole the rupees from a crow... The same crow that circles Clock Town and is "fond of musical instruments" (according to a gossip stone) and will drop rupees for you if you play songs for it, implying he played music for the crow so it would drop rupees. Yeah, this game is amazing. Maybe the skybox that's left out is the one at the beginning of the game in the forest since you already covered it kind of?
If you're thinking of takkuri the crow by milk road, it steals your ocarina and money haha. you can hit it to get money and killing it drops 200 rupees iirc
@@Drew_150 No, I'm referring to an unnamed guay that circles Clock Town and drops rupees if you play ocarina songs for it. But he's much closer to Clock Town and pretty far from the entrance to Milk Road where Takkuri is at.
Agreed. The 3DS version didn't have that, which is another small but interesting detail. In the N64 it's scary because you know you're not gonna get to see the sun fully rise, while in the 3DS Version it's as if the Sun has also abandoned the world of Termina
I've stayed awake for many summer sunrises and they have a very weird feeling, like a change in pressure in the air that comes in front of the actual sunlit portion. And the though of that being the last one before cataclysm, that's spooky.

My brother and I were at the hospital stuck in a small room over the last 8 days while he had tests run and I introduced him to your videos. They really cheered him up--he loves your sense of humor. However, I turned one of your videos up loud when he needed to take a crap in the bathroom to drown out some noise, and then it became a tradition. I probably should have mentioned that.
I appreciate that when you mimed a villager smacking something with their hammer, you used not just any old hammer PNG, but a Martinez hammer. They are light weight, ergonomic, have plenty of features, and are weighted to strike hard despite their comparative lightness. Good choice.
I’ve always felt like the skyboxes in Majora’s Mask did a lot more for the atmosphere than they did in Ocarina of Time. One of the things I remember most vividly was how beautiful the night sky looked, with its rich purples and blues and reds on the final night especially. It was oddly serene; even though you’re going to die in a couple hours, the sky offers some level of comfort in your final hours.
I think the unmentioned skybox is from the Giants' "rooms". The weird pastel subspace with the bubbles. Granted, it's not playable in there, but you can still see around.
Oh yeah love those rooms, wish we could revisit them in the same file. But ig it shows that a higher power actually does recognize the progression you're making
Majora's Mask is by far my favorite work of art and I am happy that someone else takes the time to appreciate it and its details, such as the skyboxes. Learning about these skyboxes was super interesting, even if I already knew a few stuff about them. You should absolutely do more videos on the appreciation of video game atmosphere (is that almost a pun?) and other ways of interpreting video games as an art form.
Your talk of interior painted skyboxes brought back a core memory of mine. I went to las vegas when I was really young and one of my strongest memories is the underground shopping area under ceasar's palace. It's all painted up to look like a picturesque blue sky and all the shopfronts are made to look like exterior buildings, but it's so dimly lit that you constantly remember you're underground. The vibes were so surreal that I've been having dreams about it for basically my whole life ever since.
It didn't occur to me until watching your video that the shop is heavily themed around fishing, and the daytime clerk is the same NPC as the fishing hole clerk in OoT. I'm still figuring stuff out about this game like two decades later. I'm wondering if there's anything else that I missed that was completely in plain sight like that. Your videos are great and I can always tell you're aiming to offer something different than most other channels, and for me your style of dry delivery is always preferable to the standardized overenthusiasm of other internet people.
Majora's Mask is one of those games that makes you view life differently after playing. They did time travel and created a sense of urgency in an alive world perfectly.
One of my favorite IRL skyboxes is inside the Venetian hotel and casino in Las Vegas. They recreated the canals of Venice indoors, complete with functional gondolas, building facades, and a skybox on the ceiling.
I love the rare skyboxes either in places it feels like you're not supposed to be like the fourth day just before the moon crashes or in places you're only gonna be in briefly like the inside of the moon. I've always loved how serene that scene is right at the climax of the game, like you've just woken up from or gone into a dream state, gives me an eye of the storm type feeling.
Inverted Stone Tower Temple has a cool thing going on, especially at night. The sky is below you, and at night it actually looks like the temple is in space.
I just replayed this game for the first time in forever and having seen your ocarina skybox video I was paying more attention to them while I was playing. I love how you emphasized the feelings the sky brings out in context to the events of the game. Great video!
The part where the sky is pink and blue always felt absurdly enchanting to me as a kid, and especially now as an adult when I do occasionally see skies similar to it in the morning while I'm at work
The 3D effect in the walls of the Astral Observatory remind me a lot of the room in Ocarina of Time where you learn the Serenade of Water (at the end of the Ice Cavern). Those magical walls combined with Sheik's monologue and the beautiful music make it such a special place to be, if only for a short time.
Woah this is odd I was just watching your Adult Swim iceberg vids. It's especially odd seeing underappreciated RUclipsrs commenting on videos for other underappreciated RUclipsrs. Small world.
I think this is your best skybox video yet! Like you mentioned, as compared to SM64 where you just talked about which ones you liked or not, this video really feels like more of an essay on Majora's Mask, where you use the skyboxes as the vehicle for analysis (like how an essay on an entire book may only use a handful of quotes to make its point). Longer videos like this are more than welcome
I love your methodology for analyzing games and just assets of art in general. My wife worked as a museum guide and these videos very much give me the vibe of an educator imploring their audience "what can we find here" what is the thought behind the skyboxes, how do they make us feel. Hell yeah, keep up the good work my guy!
I love how seriously and honestly you take these videos. Taking the time to analyze-and admire!-these small yet essential elements, scenes, moments really explains how and why a video game experience can be so satisfying, and divine. And it pays tribute to the developers, who undoubtedly put so much work into nailing down every aspect of these games, all in the interest of storytelling 😇
i see what your saying The Rain stands as an indifferent force to the goings on in the world. and by introducing this rain it gives you a little bit of normalcy and a kind of hope that despite the moon crashing into the earth that nature stands in an indifferent defiance of it, the world keeps turning even tho you or someone you know have died reminding you or them that life goes on and so must you
I think you'd like the vibe at some of the casinos in Las Vegas. They have fake skies inside the casino, and is kind of a "real world" skybox that you can truly feel.
I really enjoy your videos. It showcases lots of inner feelings and thoughts I've had while playing games throughout my life. Drawing attention to those little details or areas that are seemingly insignificant. And who doesn't enjoy a good skybox?
When you reset the clock and go back to dawn of the first day and walk out of the clocktower into the town at 6am it always captured that feeling of getting up early on a saturday morning, free and with things to do (like play video games) and knowing you have a few days to do what you want before the world ends (or go back to school). Atleast it did for me, such a vibe.
These very in-depth videos about absurdly simple things are really hitting the spot for me. Please do as many of these as possible!! Skybox, unremarkable locations, etc. All pure goldddddd
Can't get enough of your relentlessly contemplative, hyper-self-aware style. You make me feel better about my own neurosis haha. And if I may say so, its rather inspiring and energizing that you're such a productive artist with your music and videos in addition to apparently holding down a day job. Such a _personal_ channel, and hey, the unique look at some of our favorite games is refreshing as well. Sorry to gush, but I like it here
i noticed your prince shirt halfway throught the video then when i heard your little snippet of a song at the end, i could definitely hear the prince inspiration! nicely done! I also really enjoy these skybox and unremarkable location vids... it makes me think about stuff that i never wold have considered before... so much goes into video games that no one thinks about. you've earned my sub, my dude!
Majora's Mask is my favorite game so I'm always glad to see videos on anything about it. As far as the skyboxes are concerned, I wholeheartedly agree that they really add to the atmosphere more that Ocarina's did, and reminds me more of SM64's skyboxes for that reason. I definitely would love more of these in the future (and more odd things and unremarkable places I've never looked at). The way the sky changes kind of feels like the sky (or the world) itself is experiencing the same changes that the people are. It starts with normalcy (clear blue sky), then more and more people begin to realize the Moon is actually falling (overcast and rainy). Afterwards, even more people begin to truly fall into despair and sorrow as they realize their fate (sickly green). Finally, the final day's beautiful night sky is when almost everyone accepts their fate and instead of being sorrowful, some find peace in knowing the end is nigh (best evidenced by Anju and Kafei's quest ending). Am I reading too far into this? Probably. Does this make any sense? Probably not. But this video made me realize this and so here is a long winded comment that says a lot of nothing. Awesome video, dude, keep up the great work.
So glad I found this channel. Love your dry sense of humor, good looking, and you seem to be very intelligent. And now musical talent on top of it😍 I haven’t paid near enough attention to skyboxes in the past, you feel the mood that they help to portray but you don’t ever really stop to think how much the skybox aids in that. I’m sure it’s something I’ll be doing from now on!
When I was younger I nearly drowned in the ocean during a morning swim. I got caught in a hole in some rocks and the waves kept pushing me under. I remember seeing the sunrise through the water thinking, somewhat dispassionately, how it would be my last. Your observation brought this memory back hard!
A suggestion for future skybox videos should be for games on the sega saturn! A large amount of the games use skyboxes for "3d" effects because the saturn wasn't capable of it. while they aren't "skyboxes" per se, they function the same and are highly detailed!
I watch a lot of Zelda videos so that's how it seems this for recommended to me but you presented it so well that I'm interested in learning about other random skyboxes. Also your song slaps frfr
I was really hoping you’d talk about the skybox inside the Stone Tower temple after you flip it. Having the sky beneath you when you’re finishing this oppressive temple is so beautiful and surreal. In my last playthrough I was in that temple at the very end of the third day, as the clock counts down, and having that incredible reddish sky all underfoot (especially in the opening room of the temple) was extremely beautiful. Best skybox moment in the game for me. Fantastic video!! I want that Battlefront II skybox video.
I personally am always amazed by the skybox of Zelda Wind Waker. They're kinda important for the phantom ship quest and the side quest of the guy sitting on the stairs on Windfall Island. I don't know the English of that character. He's called Camille in the french version. But it's really a beautiful sky, the sunsets and sunrises are fantastic and I really like the thunderstorms. Also, the placement of the stars are accurate.
Just graduated highschool, been watching since elementary school. It’s dope to see how you’ve somehow managed to never drop off on the quality of your vids throughout that entire time and now more people finding your vids through this new content is insane! Proud of you 🥸
I really love this series. I hadn't considered sky boxes in as much depth as you describe, and your reflections are always a refreshing perspective. Now I'm going back to these games and really considering what I see!
I'd love a Battlefront 2 skybox video! I played that extensively with a friend as a kid but never really had full control or understanding of the locations (I also wasn't really familiar enough with Star Wars to recognize what I was looking at) and it's apparently had a very subtle, mysterious quality to me that I've never really thought about until I got surprised just now at how intrigued I was when you mentioned it.
Just had the amusing experience of walking up to my bus stop listening to your stuff on Spotify (Good, good job, looking forward to seeing the impact of listening to If You Tell the Truth on a loop for five hours is going to have on my 2022 rewind or whatever) and was like alright let’s see if finishing up whatever video it was I started yesterday on the bus is a feasible option, and here’s a new video! Great news for me and watching on the bus was indeed feasible and fun. Then the more demented realization: that it has apparently only been in that short gap between weekly new videos that I’ve seen, conservatively, one million of your other videos. What I’m saying is you’re welcome for the demented analytics
Though it isn't the skybox, one part of this game I always liked was how you could pretty much see the Stone Tower Temple from so many other locations that isn't Ikana Valley
Really enjoying this series. I’m a game developer myself, and the importance of skyboxes (or I guess skyspheres now) and how they interact with the overall environment was never really something I thought heavily about.
My guess for leftout skybox is Fairy Fountain? That counts for me as a skybox, anyhow, same argument for the observatory. I actually got really excited when I saw the Majora's Mask one was 16 minutes (though I may be biased since MM is my fotl lol) so no qualms here! Thanks for the vids :) much appreciated
Love this Austin, your personality + analysis of skyboxes and details in videogames go sooo well together (I watch you since Eggbusters, love the new direction, I want you in trending section soon) :)
I loved and miss Eggbusters a lot, but I'm really happy with Skybox Appreciation and Unremarkable Locations. It's very interesting to hear opinions about these things that are in so, so many games that just about everyone overlooks and takes for granted. The way that you present things has always entertained me. Thank you for continuing to make amazing content!
Its so weird, youre so right about the rain of day 2, it doesnt feel like it adds to any urgency, it makes it feel more normal somehow... i think the way i'd articulate it is that its almost like a distraction from the moon (despite it still being there), like yeah the sky is as normal as ever, its raining! how could something as bonkers as the moon falling be happening. also worth mentioning in my opinion is how weird it is that it rains in clock town when the moon should be acting like a giant umbrella over it, considering its directly above. it could be instead that the rain clouds are between the moon and the earth, but as only a skybox they very much visually are behind the moon... perhaps a missed opportunity for it to Not rain in clock town and to rain elsewhere, and maybe even some dialogue about it.
Incredible, I don't think I've ever seen or met anyone who really gets the little details that make this game (and the other games you've looked at) so beautiful. And long videos are great!
I started out on this channel watching the unemployment rate videos, then the Odd And Unremarkable Places videos, now I find the skybox videos. It's like every time I find a new Any Austin video series it's like it was tailor-made for me specifically, goddamn
That has literally been my progression this week. I think I watched one unemployment rate video months ago, then had a second recommended last weekend, and have followed your same journey discovering Austin's other works. Loving seeing such specific content, and that there's more of an audience for it than literally me. Going to have a lot of fun catching up here.
Longer videos? More skybox content? Yes please. Also, very much here for a Battlefront skybox video. I used to love getting lost in those places as a kid playing galactic conquest.
I gotta say I love your format and presentation. It's so refreshing to see someone else that appreciates games for the artwork they are and finds the beauty in the details.
To answer the pop quiz: The skybox "on the ground" in the upside down version of Stone Tower Temple. Which is my favourite skybox in any game. Awesome video.
I love your vids so much. A several-hours long deep dive about you talking about the every nitty gritty detail of games you love would feel like Christmas. Something something it's my sleepover and I get to choose the movie, etc..
I just finished replaying Majora's Mask for the first time since I was in middle school about a week ago. What an absolutely phenomenal game. Easily my favorite Zelda. I love these Skybox Appreciation videos, really excited to see more in the future! Awesome as always, Austin :)
I personally like anything that you do. Doesnt matter how long or short the videos are. Not to sound weird or creepy but I find your voice to be very relaxing to listen to. Plus you're wicked cute, so please keep making videos of any kind :)
I like you. You bring up a lot of the mundane things that almost always go unnoticed in games, and I appreciate that someone takes time out of their life to point them out and give them some love too.
Your dry style of comedy is refreshing and very funny. While these videos are likely drawing a very niche crowd, I’ve no doubt that your channel is going to skyrocket as long as you continue making videos. I will say to you what a girl who once broke my heart said to me: you have a great personality. I hope to see much more of it.
i really love these videos and the weird places. it feels like jumping back into the immersion of a game and realizing the reasons that they are so interesting or immersive

Very quickly became one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Every video is a must watch. Such a cool chill demeanor and unabashedly nerdy. Keep it up!
The part where the sky is pink and blue always felt absurdly enchanting to me as a kid, and especially now as an adult when I do occasionally see skies similar to it in the morning while I'm at work
Its technically still the same as the whole night 3, but its pink and blue like the world is about to be beautiful except for the moon crushing em
Lowkey some of the best artistic analysis on RUclips! I always loved the rainy Day 2, it felt like the most relaxing to me
Love the length of the upload! The longer the better.
I'll admit I never really took in the skybox in Majora until this but it's cool now. Just super subtly noticed it I guess.
Woah this is odd I was just watching your Adult Swim iceberg vids. It's especially odd seeing underappreciated RUclipsrs commenting on videos for other underappreciated RUclipsrs. Small world.

This series has made me appreciate skyboxes so much more. They've been in front of my face my whole life but I never noticed how great they can be!
another banger video Austin, keep 'em coming
this videos are great man, what a niftly little untapped market. I really love the appreciation for the simple
12:37 had me so bamboozled. It's insane how we can play these games so many times and still miss things!
I love these vids. Majoras Mask is my favorite game of all time, thx for the video!
Austin, I appreciate your nuanced take on my favourite game. Please continue to do more of this.
The vibe of this game was something else as a kid. It was so alive.
And it pays tribute to the developers, who undoubtedly put so much work into nailing down every aspect of these games, all in the interest of storytelling 😇
i see what your saying The Rain stands as an indifferent force to the goings on in the world. and by introducing this rain it gives you a little bit of normalcy and a kind of hope that despite the moon crashing into the earth that nature stands in an indifferent defiance of it, the world keeps turning even tho you or someone you know have died reminding you or them that life goes on and so must you
When inclement weather approaches, the atmosphere takes on a green hue. That's just a thing that happens in real life.
And who doesn't enjoy a good skybox?
i care about skyboxes so much, and majora's mask the most. your videos make me feel special things. great job
Austin I really enjoy your videos. Your music at the end is always really creative
i really liked the longer video, i always look forward to ur stuff!!
Sorry to gush, but I like it here
I second this!
Its really epic when i find a RUclipsr i like and they have a bunch of vids i can watch from the past
i noticed your prince shirt halfway throught the video then when i heard your little snippet of a song at the end, i could definitely hear the prince inspiration! nicely done!
Austin you’re the man! All your content is great and I’ll take the longer vids any day!
@13:00 my mom painted her little half bathroom with a skybox, it's wicked. She even put a couple tiny birds.
My all time favorite game!!! Ahh! lol I actually named my tortoise kitty with an orange face, Majora. T.T RIP my sweetest kitty girl, Majora 💜
Just graduated highschool, been watching since elementary school. It’s dope to see how you’ve somehow managed to never drop off on the quality of your vids throughout that entire time and now more people finding your vids through this new content is insane! Proud of you 🥸
Majoras mask is my favorite video game of all time and low key feel like I’ve watched like every majoras mask video on RUclips more of this game pls
Gosh I love this channel, thx for create It, love the series, just pure art
Gotta say, these vids make me feel appreciative of these old games i can go back to
Though it isn't the skybox, one part of this game I always liked was how you could pretty much see the Stone Tower Temple from so many other locations that isn't Ikana Valley
Really enjoying this series. I’m a game developer myself, and the importance of skyboxes (or I guess skyspheres now) and how they interact with the overall environment was never really something I thought heavily about.
One of the best games ever made. So groundbreaking especially considering it was made in 1 year
I love longer videos. The longer the better.
Love these kinds of videos!
The stone tower temple upside down sky maybe? Excellent video. Loved the delivery, will deffo watch more!
Incredible, I don't think I've ever seen or met anyone who really gets the little details that make this game (and the other games you've looked at) so beautiful. And long videos are great!
one of my favorite youtubers talking about one of my favorite games >>>> thank u
To answer the pop quiz:
The skybox "on the ground" in the upside down version of Stone Tower Temple.
Which is my favourite skybox in any game.
Awesome video.
Love these sky box and unremarkable places videos. Keep it coming bro!
I love your vids so much. A several-hours long deep dive about you talking about the every nitty gritty detail of games you love would feel like Christmas. Something something it's my sleepover and I get to choose the movie, etc..
this game just.. it’s so beautiful i’m glad you’re able to highlight it so well!
Down for longer content! Love the vid!
I love the longer content. Keep doing what you’re doing, Austin😊
I like this video bc the pacing is good and lotta switching back to you as the narrator, feels like a real tv show
I just finished replaying Majora's Mask for the first time since I was in middle school about a week ago.
Holy shit thanks for making me love my favorite game even more. Also more of this please if you didn’t get the hint lol
I'm glad you've been enjoying these new series as much as we have. Also, I'd definitely be down for some longer videos, Austin!
