Nils & Bianca don't miss a detail. Their clothes always complement the dance. I loved the authentic peplum of Bianca's jacket that emphasized her spins and was fun to watch. Other couples don't even make an attempt to wear clothes that contribute to the dance. Also, their song selection was more interesting than the songs chosen by other contestants. Finally, I can't believe you didn't mention the splits from spins and from cartwheels. I immediately thought of the Nicholas Brothers and thought it was a nod to them. They really know how to create drama by varying speeds and height levels.
I always watch Nils and Bianca but this is the first time I've had any kind of explanation around the choreography, they always make me smile and even feel genuine happiness and I have to say you are putting the words to a feeling I got watching this particular routine, something I've not felt before about their routines, they still exuded a genuine enjoyment in dancing with each other and I love that, thank you for the explanation.
Compared to me they are nowhere! I am 61 and disabled and I have terrible arthritis and a bad back and neck and I have no dancing partner, so believe whatever you want.
After watching the entire competition there could be no doubt that Nils and Bianca won the competition. I personally was a little shocked at the sloppiness of some of the other routines. I do believe that N'Diayo and Berghail should have placed. I did not enjoy Segerdahl and Humphries. I enjoyed the fact that there were no acrobatics. I hate it when you feel like the music and beauty of the dancing has been replaced by aerials. Thank you.
It's just the way the scene has been going for nearly a decade now. Some shining exceptions (Nils and Bianca ofc) but overall the trend has been towards sloppy and cloying performances designed not to be memorable, artistic, interesting, or exciting, but to be banged out in a couple weeks in between traveling gigs out of a sense of obligation.
Stuff like this just goes to show that even if you take away all their flashy air steps, Nils and Bianca are currently head and shoulders above the rest of the lindy world by every conceivable metric. If they keep this up their legacy will become greater than even skye and frida.
Great assessment. I would agree with you in terms of their influence as a couple being ahead of most couples; but, not in every category. There are a few qualities they lack as individual dancers that are highlighted when they dance with other people in a social dance format.
@@dogperson432 The force told me you would ask lol From my observations of 1000 of dancers over the years, they both as individual dancers have trouble matching the tone of other dancers they may be paired with in a Jack and Jill whose primary style is flowing. There are a few other professional dancers who have excelled slightly better than N&B at dancing with others who move and stop a lot, (an asset N&B both have) while also matching those who rarely stop and flow the whole time. (For example, Skye,Frida,Todd,Laura type flowing) It's a hard thing to do but cannot be ignored when examining who is the best at everything. Sometimes dancers are simply better at the thing they do, but rarely are they at everything. This is why my top ten greatest lindy hoppers list of all time often changes, and is based on what I value at that time. Most of the time, those in that list are best of the thing they do. However, in terms of being best at everything, that list rarely changes.
I must say, when i watched the routine i wondered why they'd won. Not that they didnt deserve it, but what was better about this, than the 2nd place couple? I thought well, their energy is wild, it's fast and furious, there's a lot going on... and i'm a layman, what do i know? So your critique was very welcome!
For my money it was pretty close. Nils and Bianca had incredible energy but they were not wild at all- they were super precise. For me the thing that edged it was the innovation- so much completely fresh content.
These two are my favorite in all those videos. The only thing that would improve them, in my opinion, is if Nils had the same carefree, having-fun smile that Biana displays.
@@dogperson432 I can understand your point of view. I am turned off when guys were trained by choreographers who don't know how to train male dancers. A good example of that is Sutton Foster's USA sailor's portrayed by the Broadway dancers as opposed to when she did it in London. I still think I'd prefer Nils looking like he's having a blast.
These are so much more fun to watch with you, thx! I loved #3 Ariadna's juicy swingouts--classic Lindy pulse, and plausible lead/follow dynamic; those aren't here. Here, i loved N&B's ridiculous commitment to concept of dancing to the horns (and organ solo) note by note start to finish (the 0:52 where B lands then N following the sax was my favorite, agreed with your highlight reel). Maybe it's too literal for some, but their micro-musicality is compelling as they interpret the emotion of each few notes (at the expense of a consistent theme). I'm not inspired to try anything on the Lindy hop dance floor--it isn't recognizable to social dancing here (SF). Still i understand the win: they brought new ideas (unlike 2nd place, yawn), are incredible performers/actors, such precise movement. Jive hybrid not my thing but would almost need to be a boring originalist judge to count them out
I've been this for years they r the best .

They r the best. No one should get credit but they're hard work
Как всегда великолепно, непревзойденно, неподражаемо. Браво.
These two are just wow

I see the boogie woogie coming through in the partnered bits and it just looks frantic.

Nah his style is more masculine, it's better this way.

I don't think pulse and classic Lindy belong in the same sentence 😂
