Found this video last night and made my 1st attempt of it today. My legs aren't near as pretty and the log was way more rustic in appearance.. but it turned out looking great! I've never done anything aside from a few 3-6in dia brush trees in the yard with a chainsaw.. til now. You made it look easy and inspired me. You guys rock!
Useful info thanks. No need for distracting music though. I'm here for information not music. I'd rather hear the sound of the saw. Ive got a stihl and a nice chunky 17" diameter oak tree chopped just been chopped down on my land. Ready to start doing this with it
Que maravilla, realmente fantástico, y con la facilidad con la que lo haces. Me voy animar para realizar uno y con tu permiso lo colgaré en mi canal, Un saludo
Thanks for your support and very nice of you to ask. That would be great if you post your stool on your channel, maybe give our channel a mention when you do? We’d love to see how yours takes shape. Good luck!
Well, I certainly feel like an idiot for doing mortice and tenon legs while my collection of Stihl saws sit in the corner of my shop, shaking their heads and looking at me like I’m a moron.
And how did you dry them? Did u put them in the sun? I have 2 logs, which i intend to use as simply a stool, without any process, just removing its bark and sanding it. I live in india, and it's usually 37-40deg celsius, and a good 6-8 hrs of direct sunlight. How do u suggest i dry them, they already had some radial cracks though, when i received. Do u have a specific video on drying of wood logs?
@@natashasingh3291 Peel the log then rough cut it to stool length leaving them 4” long then let them dry under shaded cover for 6 months. Not in direct sun. Then trim and grind to finish length.
I would love to hear how to avoid saw kickback when you used the tip of the saw like cutting out those wedges. I think safety tips are very most important for beginners.
🙌👏👏👏👏. Perfect Beatiful...🇧🇷👍🇧🇷

Glad you tried! They all turn out a little differently depending on the crafter… enjoy!
Thanks Dave
Great tutorial. I’ll be making a few of those for around here.

Thank you!
Nice! I hope the wood didn't crack anymore. The climate is dry here and I know I have problems with that a lot.
Yes, most of the stools do some checking. …Character:)
What chain were you running in this video?
A standard 3/8” chisel tooth
Muito bom amigo parabéns pelo trabalho ganhou mais um escrito
Please can you tell me what length is the saw blade on your chain saw , I’m thinking of getting one
How did you figure the lines for the legs; where to cut?
Divide it into six even slices, and make a leg in every other slice. Good luck!
@@bcschooloflogbuilding4385 Thanks.

That's next level control of a chainsaw right there!

Interesting you asked! Our next log talk coming out Friday is all about grinders...This one’s a 36 grit.
@@bcschooloflogbuilding4385 nice one 👍

6 months or so is ideal

Always strive to cut on the bottom side of the tip to avoid kickback. Maybe we’ll put a kickback video out on the channel soon. Good luck.
It was already a stool before you started.
