That Sawtooth looks pretty fantastic. I really do enjoy how you show off these more value friendly guitars that offer a much higher quality instrument for a fraction of the prices of the bigger players out there. After seeing your video on the Wolf LP style guitar, I ordered one and was not at all disappointed when it arrived today. I plugged it in and threw on the distortion and it delivered that chunky, brutal rhythm tone that I love and still had some damn fine articulation and the playing experience was ultra comfortable. Thanks for revealing these awesome guitars!
i have this guitar, exact color and pack and ive had it for 4 years and i was so lucky getting this guitar. just the fact that i was lucky to get a guitar with such quality as a starting guitar is amazing. if i were suggesting a brand to start with, you cannot go wrong with sawtooth.
Dude, My first electric guitar, and the one I have right now is one of this sawtooth, and I have played with it like close to 5 years, and I'm so happy with it, I made some modifications at all, all electronics, output jack, pickups, locking tuners and I'm so happy with that 100 dollars guitar (cause that what I paid for it). Good channel, keep doing everything like this and you will grow up so fast! nice video!
My opinion only... this is his worst video ever. A 12-minute video that could have been presented in about half the time and would have been much better.
I'm glad to see you continue to review these affordable guitars. They can be real bargains. Making a decent guitar is NOT rocket science, even though some manufacturers want you to think so.
@@trentnichols5075 OK, but 'some knowledge' is not a lot of knowledge. I made a pretty good rocket when I was 13 years old. People are making guitars out of Legos and giant candy jaw breakers, etc. The materials in an electric, solid-body guitar with magnetic pickups are of little importance. It's the hardware and electronics and strings that produce the sound. The neck and body are just there to hold stuff.

I just found your channel. I truly dig how you approach things. There are plenty of guitar snobs on RUclips but you seem very genuine in your assessments.
I love the starter pack idea. The price to quality ratio is so much better than when I started. As I recall any new guitar that was capable of being tuned much less hold tune cost at least $189.99, no case, no bag even, maybe some picks. Except for Peaveys lowest cost short scale 'student' model. It played and sounded completely professional. For a bit more you got an injection molded case with a 5watt amp in it. A friend if mine(of small stature) used one professionally as his main guitar for a decade or more. This was around 1980 so the $129.87 had more purchasing power. That is the point Companies have learned how to make guitars good enough to a certain price point. As long as the price/quality/value keeps stable, more new people can try learning to play music with friends. That is a good thing for all.
I bought one of these about four years ago. It out performed the classic vibe strat I bought and returned last year, with a much better fit and finish. It's a fantastic modding platform and has a great neck. I wouldn't trade it for my Player Strat, but the value is insane.
Hey brother ,I love the way that you go through a guitar, piece by piece, giving your honest opinion on what is good- what is not. Thanks Max for continuing to review starter type less expensive guitars. I am considering taking up the guitar for a hobby and I learn so much from your evaluations. You do a wonderful job.
It's amazing we're at a point where the entry level sets, at least at first glance, are pretty decent -- build quality is getting to a point where they actually are properly playable and usable, as opposed to the mess that was my first guitar back in 2001. The finish really makes this thing look more expensive than it is, and it really makes me wonder how good a guitar these companies could make if they polished up a few rough ends and made higher quality pickups. Also, that amp does look really cool for, you know, being a tiny little practice deal. At least it has 3 band EQ and it may not sound like much but it's again well ahead of what I had back in the day. Then again, sure, my parents got me the super cheap stuff BUT when you look at the low price of this, well.... yeah... you gotta compare.

The stuff coming out now beats the garbage I learned on in the early '90s. Beginners and even experienced players alike really benefit from getting great gear without going broke. Keep up the great work on the honest reviews. I'm curious about the practice amp just. I'm also curious about that Positive Grid amp in the background off your left shoulder.

i've had a Sawtooth tele in my cart for months just waiting for the right time to pull the trigger.... it's likely that i won't be able to afford it now haha
The Sawtooth Company features Michael Angelo Batio on its home page, so either they have seriously deep pockets for advertisement and PR, or they make some truly serious musical instruments. He is a very gifted musician with some insane history with sponsors so if he is digging on the company then they have got to be legit. I can't wait to hear that thing ripping out of the practice amp and then through your shred rig.
When I got to 10, I had to have a meeting with myself, so I got down to three which are the three I always chose to jam with, but I still catch myself wanting more.
I appreciate these videos you do because it's terrible being somewhat poor, but knowing that these type of guitars are in somewhat of reach for guitarists like me helps a little. I am waiting on a glarry telecaster so wish me luck.
Dude, when I started, the most solid guitars you could get for under 200 bucks was always a Harmony from the 70s and IM talking about when I was a kid in the 90s. Good guitars were UNTOUCHABLE by most kids in the 90s. We all dreamed of owning ESP, Ibanez or Jackson
I love the unboxing. Would love if you did more. Incidentally, I noticed that you have a Spark amp behind you. Any chance you'll be doing a demo and review?
It will be nice to see how the action on that thing is, as well as how the little practice amp sounds. Things have come a LOOOONG way since I first started playing back in '81. Potential players today have some great deals and products to choose from that won't break the bank and are far more advanced than what I had access to in the beginning. I would have done some embarrassing shit back in '81 for something as simple as an RP55 or Pandora's Box.
Brother, at the 5:00 mark you say “you can never have too many guitars” and I agree. However I would invite you to watch your own video and look at what we are looking at. It appears that you are sitting in a well provisioned guitar store. Very 😆 funny. Keep bringing the valued content
When I was 12 (1968) my dad bought me my first electric guitar from a local discount store for $30. It was a Goya. $30 in 1968 comes to $233 in 2020 dollars. The quality of my first guitar compared to what you received from Sawtooth or Firefly for LESS MONEY is really No Comparison. Back then it was either buy a low end Fender (Musicmaster ($160 new) or Mustang- $210 new), or that piece of driftwood that I got. $210 in ’68 translates to about $1,600 today to keep it in perspective. Outta my price range at 12 yrs old, and my dad would never have done that- I was a beginner! What’s available today for $150 bucks or so is of such better quality and playability for a beginner or even a seasoned player is ridiculous in comparison. In 1968 there was one version of the Stratocaster- just a Stratocaster! Today there are dozens of versions of the Stratocaster (not counting Mexican and Korean made) and jillions of really good knock- offs. But I learned to play on that Goya, moved up to Strats and Les Pauls. I played in bands with a Strat and Les Paul, and I love em all! I also have a Tele, and an LP Junior that I also love. My favorite is still the Stat… if I had to pick just one… Thank goodness I don’t! The guitar world is great for players!

That guitar is beautiful... Any maple fretboard strat with matching headstock is gorgeous to me. The fact that the frets are not junk says a lot about how they deal with stuff... BTW your guitar room scares me... I can´t deal with more than 6 guitars bro... Greetings from Colombia!!
I thought you were a guitar store ! If you have the room for them & the money to buy them . Why not !! Sharing the love of music is what's important . Weights for the body books for the mind & music for the soul . That makes us all well rounded
I have a sawtooth too I purchased on amazon about 4 years ago. It actually plays pretty nice.
that's like the exact guitar my dad got a long time ago. like early 2000's. still have it in my closet.
I noticed that spark amp in the back 😂 can't wait till you make a video about it 👍
You can never have to many guitars just like my wife with her handbags 😂🎸🎸🇬🇧
Please play it and do a review. That’s my son’s starter kit. He is still playing it, it’s been three years now. He loves the color very much. He said it buzzes but he still loves it
I bought their acoustic learn to play pack last year. It was marked down just before Christmas. I was impressed with the value.
My brother here gots a collection like guitar center lol love the collection. Keep up the good work bro, gym life for life!
I purchased the cheapest Sawtooth starter kit for about 90 bucks. I have since traded off the guitar but the little amp is nice. It is my favorite practice amp. I have had it for about 2 years.
I got a saw tooth acoustic-electric all mahogany. It is on sale for a hundred bucks and I bought it and I couldn't believe how amazing that guitar is. Amazing voicing. No sharp frets action is like crazy Lowe better than some of the electrics I own. Even there cheaper guitars are great guitars I can't believe it's not a bigger company than it is
halfway through he gets the box open finally
I was looking for a guitar case at my local 2nds store... not used stuff, just sold to the store cheap. There was a nice one I asked to look at... Found a beautiful guitar in it!? for a hundred bucks, I snatched it up like I was stealing something!! Got home and played that Red LP Beauty and I could not believe my fortune.
Great unboxing. Love your videos
hey max! i needed a guitar case and picked up a sawtooth bass and i am impressed with this guitar the finish ,playability .overall exellent !! and for 100 bucks!!!!!score bill from rhode island
We r in the golden era of inexpensive Guitars!!!!.....this looks great !!!......great vid Max !!!!.......have you played and reviewed the Spark amp yet in the background????.......it's a KEEPER!!!!!!......the things u can do with it are just crazy and a whole lot of fun....at it's a LOUD 40watts !!!!!.....gets a little squishy with super high gain though...but otherwise best $214 I have spent in a long time !!!....
I enjoy your videos!!!!... I also enjoy a budget ax!!!.. You da man, in bringing me the "what's new" joints.... Thanx Max!!!..
Kid nowadays are lucky for having starter pack guitar looks like that gorgeous.
In my days, starter guitar wasn't looks so appealed, so we have to force ourselves played them because we didn't have any other options.
Max, if I may make a suggestion. I really want to see your channel grow. Dont get me wrong. I Love the content you post already but I feel like youd get more viewers if youd cover some songs and gave In depth and beginner friendly tutorials from easy to more difficult songs. And do so on the guitars you review to show their capabilities. The people would love and appreciate you even more for that
TWC, GM leaves the tutorials you request to Darrell Braun. Check him out if you haven't already. He'll keep you busy for quite a while. He's given me a few workouts. :^)
Take a peek at the YT channel “shut up and play”
Great channel for learning all types of songs.
Andy is a great teacher.
Cheers
Can't believe it took 6 minutes to open the box. These guitars always seem to be better when people with RUclips channels receive them.
Yeah I've been thinken bout buying that guitar for a while now, hope it sounds great on your next video
If I'm a kid, I'd love this to begin learning 👍
I have had a Strat Sawtooth Red with Mirror Pick-Guard got it for $149.00 about 3 Years Ago, It Set Up nice and Low without Buzzing on any Fret!
Dude, I want to thank you. If it wasn't for you I would have never known about Firefly or Grote. I ordered a 3-3-5 style just like the red one you got., I haven't ordered a Grote yet. But the Firefly?....I honestly think it's got more bang for the buck than a Harley Benton.
You forgot to mention that you love 24 fret guitars and this guitar is 22 fret, it is a pretty guitar. Great job!
Love the matching angled headstock with s on trussrod cover, logo is snazzy too.
nice i like the color and i have notice that a lot guitars from china are getting better and better in fret work and set ups i will have to check this one out Thanks Maxx
The head stock looks cool.
i've had a Sawtooth tele in my cart for months just waiting for the right time to pull the trigger.... it's likely that i won't be able to afford it now haha
Look at that elusive Spark amp sitting back there in the background!!!
That's nice that it has a tilt back headstock
recently bought that same indio cali dlx plus you have there in the background and I'm enjoying it so far :o
I bought a dimebag Darrell guitar and I absolutely love it
The second you pulled the amp out the first thing I thought was that it kinda looked like a mini Supro.
I like the matching headstock
I love the tiny little amp! It's perfect size for me XD
I'm saving up money now. I want this 😂
I love the sound of the sawtooth! The only thing I don't like is the neck is a glued neck! Two pieces glued together! Other than that? I Like the guitar! And also Micheal's crazy amazing guitar playing! The man is a legend!
Almost reminds me of my first guitar. I got a Cruiser by Crafter Strat. It had a red body but a rosewood fretboard. I only had it for 4-5 years.
Great review!! Their tubes amps have great prices also
Looking forward to hearing the guitar and amp...I like this kind of stuff...
I must say that practice amp is banging baby
