Thanks for your video. I have a 4GB external hard drive that I originally have my photos saved to. I was trying to set up google photos and get it to sync it all. Instead of my google photos going to my hardrive, google tried to download my external hard drive overloading storage. Grr. To some of the comments, learn about disabilities and refer to it a more respectful way. He even explains why he has the trach. He speaks very well and did a very good job. If you don't understand something, look it up, just like you're doing here. Many people with throat cancer have to get a trach. Have some compassion for the guy.
i love this guy! hes cool. easy to learn and understand. very informative and has a good sense of humor and very joyful which is important in connecting with the viewers and keeping them zoned in and interested. aswell as them wanting to learn and watch the rest of the video aswell as more videos!!

Didn't work for me. Does not have the same menu schem. Amazon deleted my photos and music, Yahoo bought the other online photo sharing site, deleting all my photos, One Drive deleted all my photos for not loging on. See, I got the redundancy thing down, but heed my words, AFTER 31 YEARS, THE PHOTOS THAT WERE BURNED TO CD OR PRINTED THE OLD FASHIONED WAY ARE THE ONLY MEDIA THAT WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME. THEY WILL OUT LIVE ME.

Once downloaded, you can use your file manager to move them to whatever device you have attached. I recommend looking up something like,' computer file management basics' for a tutorial.

You do! An iPhone will not work for this, as the iPhone will stop large downloads to save battery life.

Thanks so much for the easy tutorial. However, I don't know if I am using an older Google version or what, but one thing for sure I could not find the "Create Archive" button. What appears on my Google Takeout screen (after I clicked "deselect all" and chose "Google Photos" and clicked "Next Step"), there is only one option which is the "Create Export" button. May be you could help me with this problem. Thanks
Google and other tech companies change the verbiage/terminology on software buttons often, but if it makes sense, that's likely it. Create Export means the same thing as Create Archive.

If you could answer this soon I would really appreciate it. My iphone is not working or turning on and I'm likely going to have to restore it to factory settings. I have the google photos ap and I see on my computer all my photos are there. If I wipe my phone, will all my photos still be in the google photos ap even if I don't export all of them onto my computer?
If you currently see them on your computer at photos.google.com, they have already been uploaded to the cloud, and it is safe to factory reset your iPhone.

Thank you for this handy tip. I have a question - does this maintain the meta data? Say i want to use an alternative service that allows you to search by location or when the photo was taken, do you know if this would preserve that information and allow me to search for "Venice, 2015" or whatever or would that be lost? If lost - do you know of a way to preserve that data?

So now that I've backed up my mac photos to Google backup and sync, how do I view the photos that are there in the backup app.

Info is a little outdated. Google photos is no longer FREE as of June 2021 and I have NO intention of paying google for photo storage. I would like to know how to upload FROM google photos to my google drive. Thanks for your video. Be well!

It depends on what your end goal is. It sounds like you just want to disable the backup feature in Google Photos?

What happens if you don’t have any space to receive emails on that email … for some reason a cannot view new emails or old ones on mine

Right click and choose extract - then cut and paste the resulting folders on to the drive.

My Google backup is full on my phone, it's telling me to buy more space. So I went out and bought the biggest size SD card. 'Cuz I didn't have an SD card in my phone, @ all. But now I do and I thought that would free up some space but it's not. So no previous photos will be backed up to Google, what can I do?
Google backup is a cloud service you can pay for more storage on, delete files from, or stop using entirely. It does not have to do with your phone's storage space.

so moving my photos to my SD card was useless. Cuz now I have them on Google cloud & my SD card? I mean Google's telling me to delete some files or I won't be able to receive my Gmail which I don't, and I can't back up any more photos. So I deleted all my emails. Still Google cloud is backed up, stopped. How can I make room on my Google cloud without purchasing more space & furthermore how can I see what's on my cloud? I need to free up some space and that's why I transfer the photos over to my SD card.

Like with all downloads, the computer will ask you where to save it, or put it in your downloads folder.

It provides you several options, including emailing you a link to the files so that you can download them to whatever device you wish. It does take time though!
@@BobbleTech it would be helpful if you could show us how to do that. When I got the email with the download link I did not see an option for where to download to, it just automatically chose a spot on my pc.
@@jonlaughton7689 that's not a Google related thing. The folder in which any file is downloaded from the web navigator (e.g. Google chrome) is in the navigator config. By default, it's stored in c:\users\*your username*\downloads

Go to photos.google.com, and sign in if necessary. You can delete things there.

@@ashajiandani2549 If the photos are exclusively on the backup, that will happen. There is a 'trash' you can restore them from, if you wanted to.
Thank you for the specific information... is there an app to drop and drag right out of Google Drive and avoid their downloading process?
If you have small amounts to do, you can select multiple, then choose the download option rather than the Takeout method.
Does it also work if your pictures are not backed up?
No, they will not be downloadable if there's nothing to download.

That's a great question! There used to be a way to do this with iTunes, but since Apple is phasing out iTunes, I'm not entirely sure it will work.
Sadly, iPhones, unlike Android devices, do not allow you to simply access all the files on your phone easily. If you have a Mac, it may be as simple as dragging and dropping the photos to your phone when it is plugged in. The file format that Google provides may not work on the iPhone, however.
