I always forget how much I like line variation in my art until I see other people's! This was a good reminder :) I love your videos, they're so helpful!
I really like the way you explain art concepts! it makes them really easy to understand and easier to remember when I'm making my own stuff. thanks as always drew!
Thanks Andrew, you are absolutely right about the line variation.it gives rythmn and balance. I did not know Ashley wood’s work. Stunning so thank you for the discovery 👍
Yeah they carry a lot of energy or feeling. I found that imitating the chaos doesn't help. But trying to imitate the principles (I think he uses) gets me closer to those kinds of lines:)
Thanks Drew, while I do vary my line work, I have to say it’s a product of layering and not directly from the drawing tool I am using. I think I do it this way because I am so comfortable with my set of tools and a bit lazy to have to learn something new 😮…not a great attitude! This is why I enjoy your videos so much; you wake me up and inspire me to keep learning!👏🏽
You mean going over a few times with a thin line to thicken the line? Yes that is one way to do it. I used to be more adamant about what is "the better way". But I think all these ways will work. They just produce a different outcomes. Layering may take a bit more time, but I think it can produce it's own unique cool look:)
@@Drewscape-art Yes, that’s what I meant. And, you are right, it does take me longer 😅. I have been working with some fine natural brush pens, but only for lettering. You’ve given me the inspiration to try them in my sketches! Thanks ☺️
Excellent video, big fan of playing around with line weights :) Got myself a parallel pen too! still getting used to it, using it with a variety of brushes and nibs, great fun , cheers:)
Hi Matt, yeah it takes some getting used to. It only started working better for me when I stopped thinking about it as a pen. Instead, try using it like a flat brush. See if that makes a difference for you:)
Thanks! Was looking through a video about him. He may use the Berols during an interview. But in his studio it looks like he uses all kinds of tools from pencils to calligraphy pens to nibs. Gosh makes me want to try more stuff! ruclips.net/video/06rYXkIhBtY/видео.html

Good reminder for me too. I sometimes forget about the wonders of line variation for a while. Then come back to it.

Thank you for taking time to give feedback, Vicki. Trying my best to explain stuff clearly:)
Your journey always helps us too 😊
Helps me clarify my thoughts too. Win-win:)
I use the tombow funenosuke brush pen. It gives line variation very easily
cool thanks. Yes I see that it is water-resistant too. So I can add paints over. Nice!
Thanks for sharing Andrew a nice video as always...untill the next video✍ 😉👍
Thanks Rob!
@@Drewscape-art 🙂👍

Welcome. His work tends to lean toward more mature audience themes. But that aside, his work is amazing. I like studying his oil painting too:)
Awesome - have always loved the chaotic lines of Ashley Wood ... feels like u are in the pages of an art book !

I think it’s better black and white 😊
Yeah. Or maybe another colour combination. Well, it can always be better 😄
Thanks for the video, loved it.
Thanks for tuning in:)

Wow. I never thought of this before. Gonna definitely put this to work …. Thanks Drew
Glad I could introduce something new:)
Very cool video, thanks! 👏
Muito bom ❤❤❤
I think I've seen footage of Quentin Blake using Berol calligraphy pens. Not sure if that's what he uses all the time though
ive seen that too. probably a mix of berol and crow quill
