I WANT TO REPORT A #ROBBERY last night in Canelo vs Lara fight. Please someone call the cops because Lara just stole 1 Million dollars last night. Lara did not got to fight Canelo and he did not even earn his dam purse. He shouldn't have been paid 100,000 dollars for what he did last night. That was horrible to watch. Lara talked 2 years about how Canelo was running and scared of him and he gets in the ring and runs, holds and it was a disgrace to boxing.
Listen if Lara wants to steal money let him do it in Cuba or Miami in front of a Cuban audience because it will never happen to a United States citizens, and Mexican American and Mexican audience again. Thank God for the Undercard fights last night. Shameful

I'm sure Showtime will replay the fight in the next couple weeks and more people will see that Lara was literally running circles around the ring and backing up the entire fight. Yes, he landed a lot more JABS but the power shots were lopsided in favor of Canelo. Almost all Canelo's power shots were to the body which means he learned from the Mayweather loss. When fighting a fast and defensive boxer don't head hunt and attack the body . I had Canelo winning 115-113 so no controversy here people , Bring on Canelo-Cotto (Mexico vs Puerto Rico) which will be a great event !

The decision was a farce. Lara out pointed him by a wide margin. Canelo attacked the body because he could not touch the head, while punching to the air. The body punch combinations, one landed while 2-3 were blocked by the elbows. WB
I feel that most of Canelo's "body shots" were on the arms and elbows and people score every single body shot regardless if its blocked or not. I feel neither guy did shit in this fight and it was very close so I can understand a 115-113 Canelo card even though I disagree with it and felt Lara won. IMO a draw probably would of been the best result here considering how both fighters looked terrible. Either way it sucks because people will continue to disagree on who's best at 154 but after this it makes more sense to bring on Canelo Cotto and even Canelo Kirkland then maybe Canelo can rematch Lara one day in the future however boring it is (hey Dawson Hopkins 2 was boring as hell but division wise it made sense and had to happen).
I know you feel that there's no controversy here but that's your opinion and the FACT is that this is was an SD win for Canelo and it's controversial one because there will always be so much disagreement between the press/writers. That's what controversy means lol it has to do with collective opinion not just yours.
Lara lost that fight cause of himself! The last 3 or 4 rounds he really didn't do shit offensively, and basicly gave that fight to Canelo.
I agree. He gave this fight away. All he had to do was engage the last 10 - 30 seconds of the round and that would have won it form him. He dominated the first 30-60 seconds and then ran. You will not gain super star status like that.

Their only chance to fight would be at the same weight and that is impossible. They fought when they had to fight and we already know the result. But do you know how old Floyd was when he beat Genaro "El Chicanito" Hernandez ?? Canelo was too young to beat an old and experienced champion, but Floyd beat Hernandez even though he was very young. After seeing the fight twice I think it was a close fight, but I gave Canelo the win by 2 rounds. I feel Canelo landed the more effective combinations and power shots which made a huge difference. Lara used a style of boxing that is very defensive, which didn't allow Canelo to engaged like he wanted to. But as much movement as there is in that style, there has to be more punches. Lara had many opportunities to counter but instead he pushed himself away from the fight. I think if he would have counterpunched more and threw more combinations that would have really impressed the judges. When you fight a guy like Canelo I think you have to show the judges you can really outbox him. Perfect example, Mayweather, stayed in the pocket, threw combinations, backed Canelo up, counter punched him, which Lara did neither of those. They're really wasn't anything impressive about Lara besides his left hand and his jab. If he would have commit to his attack a bit more, he would have won the fight.

Canelo landed 97 punches and won? Lara tried to fight like Floyd but only Floyd can fight like Floyd its one thing to move and make a dude miss, but you have to counter and throw some combos in between Lara didn't do that
Don Right Good points, I agree. Do you remember when Andre Berto tried to mimic Floyd vs. Guerrero? That ended horribly for him. I guess you can say the same about Broner, but aside from the shoulder roll, people saw a style difference. I don't know how familiar you are with Bruce Lee, but it's a similar situation for him. People admire him so much, that they'll try to follow everything that they hear about him. Unfortunately, by doing so, they're showing that they missed the entire point. In Lee's case, he found flaws in all of the traditional fighting styles that he studied. This is why he created his own style, which was to not have a style. If he found a Karate, Kung Fu, Boxing, or Jiu Jitsu move that was practical, & worked well for himself, he'd use it. So these are techniques that work best for Lee alone. I think Floyd's similar in that way.

Nah, Lara was doing good in the beginning. But wasn’t engaging at all near the end. If he engaged more he would of won. Canelo landed the more effective shots most of the rounds while Lara countered only a few times. He should of countered more and engaged more. Then that would of counted as a “school” and win in his favor. Yet, that wasn’t the case. He lost by points not by a landslide but he lost due to not engaging.
Mayweather jr does the same exact thing, but when he does it's supposed to be a masterpiece.....yh right!

I'm a fan of both, but Floyd Sr. Is right, whether we like it or not. The fight looked like a game of tag with boxing gloves on. Canelo needs to improve his foot speed so he can more effectively hunt down and catch his opponents, Lara, like Broner, needs to work on his offensive pursuit cuz it's hard to won a fight off of all counter punches. My opinion.

It was a close fight. I think Canelo did just enough to get by w/ the win. A tie would have been fair as well. I was not convinced w/ Canelo. I expected more out of him, but he still won. Lara definitely deserves a rematch, maybe in 2015?

Boxing has never been this bad ever..... Everyone was dying to see Floyd and Pacman but look at how that turned out... There are no more real champions and fighters like Tyson's, the golden boy, Roy Jones Junior, Trinidad, the list use to go on and on but nowadays it's a joke i have stopped watched....and so has a lot of other people.... I was there in MSG when Trinidad smashed Joppy, I've seen every Tyson fight on PPV because it was amazing to see the rage he had in each fight or the skill RJJ would show day in day out....the last of the Mohicans is Bernard Hopkins point blank .....I can go back to the 80's 70's shit even the 60's these were the day of true boxers no one hide .....

The Cuban fight style is bad for boxing in terms of attracting casual fans and expanding the overall fan base of boxing. Can't wait to see how fast I'm going to go to sleep while I attempt to watch the Rigondeaux fight this Saturday.

Lara blew this fight. He needed to make Canelo pay for all his misses...but did not. We all knew that anything close was going to Canelo, the money man. Lara must have known this and even though I had it for Lara by one round, to win, Lara needed to do more and I believe he could have.....he didn't!!! Lara has no timing on his movement which what got him dropped in the angulo fight, mayweather stands there at times and covers up right in your face and keeps you at bay with jabs up top and straight rights to the body, and dodges back when you rush in with a flurry attempt and he resets which made floyd look good and land power shots (hooks, upper, cuts and straights) mayweather was backing canelo up like trout did and didn't allow canelo to get comfortable, canelo has great skill and nobody but mayweather can beat him just as mayweather told everyone
If Lara actually boxed like we know he could he would have won the fight. He didnt and lost. ESPN had the fight for Canelo including Max Kellerman and Dan Rafael. Lara landed 10 punches more overall in the fight but Canelo landed 36 more power punches how the fuck was that a robbery?? One thing is to hit and move another is land a couple of shots and run. Had the fight been in the Olympics then Lara won BUT this is a professional fight and entertaining helps out in decisions, being an action fighter rather than a safe fighter will sway the judges and the crowd almost everytime. Thing is lets say Lara did win....Ok who will really pay to see him fight on PPV? No one really, cause the casual fan does not prefer that style when it comes to paying $60-70 for PPV and i agree. Plus Golden boy has way to much invested in Canelo to just let him lose that fight or any fight for that matter this early after losing his 1st first fight a year ago.

Difference is, Mayweather(really a junior welterweight) decisively won the fight while standing in front of Canelo and at times walking him down. He was in the pocket the majority of the fight.
Lara's game plan was a more aggressive stick and move(and he moved a lot), which made the fight especially boring when you consider Canelo just followed him around failing to cut off the ring and thowing haymakers.
Hopefully reasonable Canelo fans will now appreciate(and give credit) Floyd's dominance over Canelo in their fight and how that will ultimately help him down the road. The future looks good for him. I just didn't like how he let his frustration get to him during the fight and in the post fight interview with Jim Gray. It left a bad taste in my mouth. I hope the Canelo fans take in easy on me.
