    My stepdad was a veteran. He spent years complaining to the VA about headaches and sudden loss of hearing in one ear. They literally wrote “drug seeking” in his chart for years. It wasn’t until he suddenly started to loose vision and went to an eye doctor where they saw a shadow when they dilated his eyes. Turned out he had a massive brain tumor. To add insult to injury they botched his surgery leaving him completely disabled at only 32 years old. For the 3 years he lived, the VA refused to approve more than 20% disability despite he needed around the clock care. The VA is constantly too little too late at best and grossly neglectful at worst which leaves Vets even more vulnerable to getting taken advantage of.

      Oh no! I'm sorry to hear about your stepdad. VA hospital care is why he refuses to go to anywhere but civilian doctors and hospitals; and makes sure he and mom have health insurance. Luckily, he planned for this early on, as he has low tolerance for BS and poor diagnosis mainly due to genetic cancer running in his family. He's proud to be a veteran, but wishes the care was better than the care he receives at civilian hospitals and healthcare personnel.

      My dad was a Vietnam veteran, and when he lost 50 pounds in 2 weeks, they said it was because they got his blood sugar under control. 4 months later, he was incredibly sick and hospitalized. 2 months after that, he was dead. He had cancer. For 3 years, he complained about hip pain, and they think NOW that this was the start of bone cancer. But they ignored his pain until they sent him home to die.

      They shouldn't stop with Ticketmaster either. The US government has been highly tolerant of virtual and actual monopolies for the last 40+ years compared to how it was before that. Said monopolies have been pushing their bullcrap more and more and lobby to keep their market control. Ticketmaster is just the obvious tip of the spear, but these modern mega corps that largely all own each other's stocks more than the public does, have to be broken up and sold off as well to bring competition back to the market and do something to improve the 'greed / inflation / debt financing' feedback loop we have going on right now. The thing that is mainly causing an affordable housing / cost of living crisis, that is only going to get worse as extreme weather events (fires & flooding) cause ripples through the insurance, banking/investment, and real-estate industries.

      @@urproblem I don’t think that the market is ready for a complete break up yet. Which is why I’m all for the regulated monopoly model to be implemented as it will dramatically drive down costs for the consumer. In the long run, yes, break up makes sense, but I am concerned that implementing a break up at this point will result in a short period of pro consumer gains followed by constant mergers that kill competition. At least with the regulated monopoly model, oversight and pro consumer decision making is guaranteed.

    Tokyoite here. I think the main issue with tourism in Japan is the infrastructure is not set up for an additional several-million people in the cities. Kyoto, for example, is a bus city, not a train city. So one person with a suitcase can ruin everything for everyone-tourists and locals alike-because the city just isn’t set up to handle everyone. Also the speed at which tourism has bounced back after COVID restrictions lifted last year has us all on-edge with how crowded everything has become so quickly. While 2019 was our most-visited year ever, 2024 is expected to surpass that by millions more people. 99.5% of tourists are very nice and mostly just a bit lost-again, infrastructure issues, including language barriers-but they drive me nuts because of the sheer number of them roaming around when I’m just trying to go to work.

    Teacher in Texas here. In our high school, the AC has already broke once this week in addition to multiple times back in August. My guess is your ACS are not actually broken but freezing over. A lot of people don't know this but when an AC unit is being overworked it can actually freeze itself in the middle of the summer. Due to all the moisture it builds up as well as being put at such low temperatures in order to keep such a big building cool.
      Exactly happened to me and my family one summer in an apartment I think back in 2020 or 2021. We have been using the AC for a few days straight and it just wasn't working right. After we had the landlord check it out with his personal maintenance man it turned out that the AC was completely Frozen over. Covered in ice.
      Thankfully the AC still worked, but they had to break up all the ice and let the rest of it melt before they could turn it back on again. The bigger and more AC units a big building that has a required in order to keep it cool, the more likely that they could freeze over if constantly overworked and not properly maintenance or shut off once in awhile. At least they let whatever ice it is developing melt. Chances are the maintenance man doesn't feel like explaining this so they just say it's broken.
      😂 If you guys actually had a broken AC like we did back in 2019 or 2018 and one of our old homes, that bitch want to turn on no matter what. Mighty some fresh freon, a new fan, I need the circuit battery or something. That bitch would be off for at least two to three weeks.

Until I suddenly noticed I cant move, my pumps were buried (about halfway of the platform part) in the newish patch of asphalt! At first it was funny AF, but soon it was certain these shoes werent going anywhere. I had no choice but to leave them, barefoot it back home and leading to about week long zany art exhibit on the pavement, red velvet heels standing alone (looking like they were going to hair salon near by), until someone got them out. So, take it from me, look where you step when the mercury goes up. If this can happen in Finland, it can happen anywhere.

    Someone had to pay for the investigation and it was not going to be Madison, no legal firm would put their company on the line for the peanuts that LMG would pay. They're a reputable and large law firm that's used by local governments and large corporations alike to conduct internal investigations and to review policies. Their reports have led to CEO's getting booted when found to be culpable.
    This is the gold-standard when it comes to this kind of things, worst thing they could've done is do an internal investigation or just ignore it.
    And neither the law firm nor LMG would state so in certain terms if it wasn't true, because it would've opened them to a lot of liability not just from Madison but also from Canadian authorities.
    Also, you can't prove a negative. How do you even prove something didn't happen. Madison in her claims described evidence and other people witnessing the acts, which as it turns out isn't true.

    However, I recently began microdosing cannabis to help with sleeping. I still suffer from severe chronic pain all day every day, but I had an implantable stimulator put in years ago which has mitigated much of it. Since I’ve started microdosing with cannabis, my sleep is better and my residual pain is a little more manageable. In the course of a week, I’ll use it 2-3 times. It's meme'd on all the time, but as a Vet, one of the worst things we leave the military with is crippling anxiety about needing to be somewhere on-time / aversion to sleeping. The fact that a lot of civilians don't understand it is maddening.
    I currently have an appointment in 6 hours. I have not slept in the past 20. Nor will I sleep within the next 6. The appointment is literally not important at all, nothing to be worried about AT ALL, but nothing aside from going to the meeting or calling and cancelling I will be completely unable to enter a relaxed state. It is like this for literally any non-daily situation since I left the military.
    I was NOT like this before I joined, but I guess being threatened with extreme retaliation, every day, for 4-8 years in a row for even minor infractions will do that to a person.
    That, and we're regularly introduced to sleep deprivation to make sure we're constantly ready to do a full day's work when we haven't slept in 2. I understand needing to train for pushing beyond our limits sometimes, in a combat scenario or something. But the concept is lost when I'm in a non-combat environment and get called on to work a 7a-7p shift, then stand 1-2 different security jobs on the side every day, along with the possibility of overnight duty of mindlessly forwarding emails because nobody can figure out how Outlook rules work so they insist on having someone file them by hand 24-7. Then the next workday starts, I have not been home, I have not showered, God help me if I went to sleep and someone caught me.
    I'd also be on-call all weekend every other weekend, so when I'm 'off work' I can't do ANYTHING but sit in the barracks and wait to be called for the inevitable breakdown of all systems during said weekend, because my luck is that terrible (and so are the machines that we use).
    How do I explain to a normal person that going to something like a PTA meeting triggers my PTSD without sounding like a crazy attention seeker? How do I explain that I have an aversion to making plans because what if I'm needed at home / work during that time-frame and can't get there? I've been out for over 10 years and I've managed to shake a good bit of the toxic conditioning, but not these parts.
    I hate it so much.

I can promise you this though: even at the point where outdoor work is staggered based off temperature levels, we will still have a majority of people that, influenced by corporate "skepticism'" , are in denial of anthropogenic climate change and nothing will fix that until it is so glaringly evident that the only solution will be leaving the planet.

Any drug used for recreational high, even some forms of psychiatric medication, can slow & negatively affect the development of the brain before this. So yes, it's legal, just like alcohol is legal, & just like alcohol it can keep a kid from being as smart, mentally healthy, creative, happy, etc as they could be by the time they're an adult. Because all of those qualities are largely based on the balanced neurochemistry of the brain. Even though the 21 year-old legal limit is somewhat better/safer than 15 or 18. Also, I've worked with teens and young adults for a long time, and I've come to realize that what they consider safe is basically "this thing won't kill me within days of using it & I won't get in trouble/go to jail for using it." @@Gzgz7zgg6zig Are you talking about shrooms? I'd be curious where you heard your info, because I've heard nothing about shrooms being in your system for a year, and I know shrooms aren't chemically addictive. You might be able to get addicted to them in the sense you can get too comfortable towards anything, such as being addicted to junk food, video games, pron, etc., but in fact a lot of psychedelics become less effective the more you use them in succession, encouraging breaks from them in between. Full disclosure, so far all my shroom trips have felt good, but I've never spent time after thinking I needed another shroom hit or something or frantically scrounging up money to uy more shrooms or else I might not make it through the day. As for shrooms being bad for you, that's a bit of a loaded question since bad can mean a lot of things and require context to ask bad in what way, not helping the fact that after the US gov cracked down on SLD, shrooms, and other psychedelics, we lost 50+ years of potential medical research we might've been able to use to better know medical side effects by now. Generally speaking, however, I don't know of any particular do not put this in your body effects, and you can't OD on shrooms either. At worst I believe medical experts suggest not messing with psychedelics if you have or your family has a history of mental conditions like delirium, Schizophrenia, hallucinations (not drug induced), etc., and I know psychedelics tend to make your brain vulnerable and highly suggestible to idea, so it might be a good idea to avoid watching videos, listening to music, or otherwise surrounding yourself in deeply held moral and ethical concepts like politics and religion while on shrooms (For example, that Qanon Shaman buffalo guy admitted he used shrooms and was convinced shrooms told him Trump was the right guy to follow. Shrooms and other psychedelics can make our preconceived biases feel more profound or correct and reinforce the idea that they're objectively or divinely correct, and it's good to remember that and consider the fact our thinking is altered when on psychedelics if we feel like we came away with a particularly profound revelation and step back and consider what idea we came away with instead of blindly accepting them as correct.) Over all, I would say I'm not a doctor and thus not confident in giving a simple, uncomplicated OK or not to suggest people take shrooms, it is a drug and there are potential side effects and things to consider, and I would advice anyone to do a lot of research on effects and side effects and health risks before taking any drug to decide if you eve want to try it in the first place or if you think it's too dangerous. That said, all the research I've seen and personal use of them have suggested to me they're on the very low end of risk of potential harm from a substance.
      On the topic of benefits, there's already research to suggest shrooms and drugs like LSD and Ketamine can be extremely helpful in treating conditions like addiction to other drugs, depression, and PTSD. If you want a book recommendation on psychedelic research from an outsider food blogger looking in, I would suggest Michael Pollan's book How To Change Your Mind. One of the things I found astounding about psychedelic research is that when neuroscientists study the brain waves of people tripping on shrooms, they find that psilocybin, the psychoactive compound in shrooms, actually connect neural pathways and synapses in your brain that connect more freely in children, but tend to become more rigid and less adventurous in adulthood as we form routine habits that can be hard to break and untrain. When tripping on psilocybin, you literally think and perceive the world with an expanded mind connective neural paths in ways your brain hasn't connected them in a long time (since childhood when your brain was developing itself and taking in new stimuli), which is wild to think about in my personal opinion. It's thought these mental shake ups can actually do lasting good long term to help shake people out of deep rooted habits such as procrastinating on important projects, lack of motivation due to depression, or putting off learning a skill.
      I'm cautious to call shrooms a wonder substance, and if anyone who might read my comment might wonder if shrooms are for them, I strongly encourage only trying them in a place you feel safe to be vulnerable in, preferably with sober company you can trust to watch over you while you trip (A trip sitter should never take shrooms with you, especially if it's your first time. For as long as you feel safer with a sitter, the sitter should be sober. If you already know the dosage of shrooms you feel safe taking and are choosing to trip with another experienced friend or person, that's a different story.) at least to start with, and do a lot of research on set and setting and having an intention in mind when taking mushrooms, and also start slow. Shrooms can be powerful psychedelics and for a first time you want to take them seriously and treat them with respect and caution before considering upping the dose.
      Sorry if that was a big comment, but this topic is very interesting to me. My state actually recently legalized psilocybin therapy as a medical practice, and I'm actually going to school to become a therapist, and I have a big interest in the field of psychedelic therapy, since I think it will only get bigger and be used on more people, and I believe it has potential to do a lot of good. Feel free to ask any more questions you might have, I love talking about shrooms.

Fortunately, I have a VSO rep who cares a lot and has been very helpful through this process. BUT, I've still had my hiccups, delays in reviews, and being constantly shifted around fully blind to what is going on behind the curtain. I once brought a bullying investigation against a workplace i once worked at. An investigation took place, you should know these are very one sided. They normally go straight to HR, and as anyone who has worked with large companies knows, are not there to accomodate or protect employees, but to protect the company from its own employees. Anything not written down, or "lost" is considered hearsay unless it comes from HR which can say whatever they want (again on the companies side). In fact, it is very hard for an employee to prove their story unless they made a concerted effort to capture evidence at the time it happened. This rarely happens because usually the staff member is hoping that the company will do the right thing.
    Tip, for anyone going through this. Remember HR is not your friend but you must establish youve contacted them. Always get any promises in writing and capture as much evidence as possible to keep for yourself.

    • @OhGeeGanksta
      @OhGeeGanksta 24 дня назад +15

      1) The case with LTT, the investigation was done by a 3rd party, not internal HR.
      2) Depending on how serious the issue is, lawyers can totally subpoena for all communications related to the case. Just because the company tries to “delete” or “hide” emails, text, etc., doesn’t mean they’re not recoverable or obtainable.
      3) So you don’t have any records of your supervisors or HR speaking to you on your end?
      4) Most people fail to stare themselves in the mirror. Was it really “bullying” as you put it, or did you just have a conflict with another person? This era is the most snowflake era I’ve ever seen. Accidentally misgendering someone is considered bullying. 🙄

    • @alimfuzzy
      @alimfuzzy 24 дня назад +28

      @OhGeeGanksta you haven't got a clue what you're talking about .
      1) like I said 3rd party doesn't mean anything.their MO is to go straight to HR and believe what they say. Read the rest of what I wrote before
      2) they didn't subpoena anything, nor would they waste that effort. You watch too many movies
      3) a lot of negations are done in person and without recording devices where a lot of promises are made or statements given but nothing is recorded. That's why you need to take notes and then email to the involved parties straight after to get acknowledgement. Again 3rd parties tend to just believe HR without written evidence.
      4. Bullying in my case was a manager spreading rumours behind my back about work I had done as a contractor. They had also been spreading rumours about other people in the office with such things as drug taking and stealing money. This is what happens when you make it to upper management, theres a lot of politics and infighting there is also a lot of crossing lines to get ahead.
      I was lucky because I already had a solid reputation and recorded everything, and I had my contracting agencies lawyers ready to sue the company.
      Please actually have some experience before you comment on these types of things. And not everything fits into your woke/anti-woke world view.

      A 3rd party investigation means literally everything in this case. The 3rd party had no obligation to "protect" the company because their entire job was to determine if the reported harassment could be substantiated. LMG anonymously requested employee accounts of harassment and corroborations of the proposed harassment prior to the investigation to provide the most unbiased date for the investors.
      LMG is a media company that takes PR unbelievably seriously and many of their employees are engaging with the community all the time. To dismiss the investigation outright simply because you don't trust any company is moronic.

    • @caimantroup6986
      @caimantroup6986 24 дня назад +13

      @alimfuzzy This was my main concern on this story as well. Given the time that's passed, basically all that there is to go on here is LTT's records, which, by their very nature, are going to be heavily biased in the companies favor, with no guarantee of actual follow through on what they said their response was or that they even accurately recorded the initial complaints in the first place. Not to mention it's incredibly easy for companies in general to cook records after the fact to make them look better during an investigation, and would be all the easier for that to be done in a much harder to detect way in a company built and staffed by people who's entire job is being good with computers.

    I got out of the military in 2013 on a medical discharge with 20% disability. Over the years it was bumped to 60, then 90% after a seizure I had in 2017. The last 10% of my disability took until 2023 to be bumped to 100%. And that took me filing 5 separate times, and half of my body going numb, and a Neurologist outside the VA taking my symptoms seriously. I was told by the Neurologist at the VA that it was "carpal tunnel", even though and outside neuro told me I had Multiple Sclerosis. I can't feel either of my hands and working is difficult between chronic fatigue and overworking my body because I can't feel my hands to do work properly. Even after my 100% rating, they only back dated my disability rating to 2021 despite the symptoms and MS being there in scans since 2017 because the VA neuro didn't recognize it as MS and I thought it was TBI related to an IED I was in. While I'm thankful to have full "insurance coverage" now, the 100% disability is barely what I'd make working full time, so I need to work while on disability. If I lived anywhere else I'd be fucked, thankfully i live somewhere semi-affordable. The entire process needs to be reworked, I know so many veterans who are missing limbs and only have 20% disability for it. The VA doesn't tell you about the service organizations when you become part of it, so you have to seek them out and in some places like my small town we don't even have any service offices, I have to drive an hour away just to talk to the American Legion.

    So tourist funnel to the same places. It's a huge mismanagement of Japanese tourism to poorly promote other parts of Japan beside tokyo-osaka-kyoto-hiroshima.

How do THEY know when they longer need it - if they never needed it to begin with? I know a lot of people who just kept going and turned into assholes for no good reason. They never had abusers in their life - so they can't recognise when they turn into one.
      I know conventional wisdom is that turning to substance abuse is the wrong way to deal with your problems, and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. But who's to say how things would turn out without at least the option to escape? And god knows access to mental healthcare is difficult - and the support just isn't there for some people. Everyone wants to tell others to just 'go to therapy' - nobody actually wants to be the one to help out.

    I have chronic pain. Weed misuse disorder or whatever they term it seems to be an umbrella term for someone who suffers adverse effects from going cold turkey off of weed. I would count as in that group and most would assume that's because I've barely taken more than a week or two break here and there in maybe 8 years now of daily pot use. Except I showed adverse symptoms coming down from weed from the first time i used it. It was the first time something other than alcohol had fully muted my pain so the sensation of it coming back drove me to self medication. I definitely got into the habit of smoking way too much at one point but like with anything else was able to recognize that and work my way back bit by bit. Now that I make the effort to educate myself on the topic I know balancing it out with cbd is super important for regular users since we are being advertised and sold higher and higher levels of thc with absolutely no accompanying cbd (especially if you buy concentrates like dab). Hopefully now with cannabis being reclassified the ability to study actual people on the drug will allow us more information on the issue

      Yeah I agree. Just gonna reply to add my own experiences as someone who uses weed to treat chronic mental health disorders and migraines (but also recreationally).
      There absolutely needs to be a distinction between recreational 'addiction' (don't even think that's the correct word to describe daily use) and medical use of weed/THC and CBD products, and their 'dependence'. addiction is classified as a pattern of behaviour surrounding something, that impacts daily life, social activity, and engagement in community. I think a lot of people ignore that in terms of weed and classify people experiencing side-effects when they come off it as 'addiction'. But most medications targeting chronic issues, or medication in general, have side-effects from coming off them; soom SSRIs to HRT. And doctors would never count a 'dependence' on those an addiction. To me it rings as a continued moral panic around weed.

      @@aragoonn people also can't be "willy nilly" with prescription meds that are regulated by a doctor. People with "self medication" for mental health or pain use of weed are regulated simply by the money in their pockets and access to weed. It's in the same vein as people using alcohol freely or cigarettes free or any other drug to self medicate. It's unregulated and the person is their own "prescriber". That's what I think leads to addiction, even if it's not a physical addiction, it's a mental one. Hell, if you have a headache and you take an Advil, the goal is to have a manageable level of pain, not be pain free. Too many people that self medicate with marijuana or alcohol or whatever use it until they're "pain free" and develop a tolerance for being "pain free" usually increasing frequency and amount to continue to be "numb". Unregulated use is why you've got a lot of people addicted and making excuses that they're "good" or have it "managed", when they actually have some sort of dependency on it.

    As an Aussie, climate change changed how our winters and summers were. We had frequent heatwaves in Perth last summer gone. Melbourne had a chaotic summer and autumn being super cold and wintery.

    I live in the south and help run a dart blaster club in Raleigh, NC. The increasing temps are highly concerning to the point we are looking into renting or building an indoor play field for when the temps become dangerous. Until we find a solution, I've been packing coolers of cold water and gatorade for all members.

    My mom's friend from back when the step idiot was in the service lost her husband to cancer caused by those burn pits. But because he happened to also be a smoker, after he passed they offered no support and even said "he obviously wanted to die cause he was already smoking" to her. This woman has been through a lot and still is as she's fought cancer and has been taking care of her to disabled adult sons all by her self since his passing. but the fact that they said that to her is just sickening and the VA needs to take more accountability for the vets.

    I fell into the trap of a company that I was willing to pay to help me with my VA claim. I asked for compensation for issues which I think I am legitimately diagnosed with or had happen to me. They came back with stuff that I don't have. By example, PTSD. I never deployed. I never saw anything particularly violent in the military. I think that those who have PTSD legitimately deserve those benefits. I don't. They just want the biggest paycheck and they don't care about what happened to you. I told them I have nerve damage and vision loss associated with the military and they did not even TRY for either of those. I dropped them and, to this day, I have not pursued benefits because I think there are people out there who deserve those benefits way more than I do.

      When you qualify for benefits, you don't take anything away from any other veteran. Please, go see a VSO from Legion, DAV, or VFW. They're all non-profit and funded through donations and member dues. They will work with you, not try to exploit you.

      It saddens me to see people like you taken advantage of. We must vote in politicians (ON BOTH SIDES OF THE AISLE) that are ready to remove lobbying from politics. Remove money all together. Remove the ability to give themselves raises while stealing money and benefits from veterans and OUR FUCKING CHILDREN (education system). This divide Democrats vs Republicans means nothing. It's US against the CORPORATIONS. They have more protections and more rights than a walking, breathing citizen who fought for our country. Even though now a days people only go to war to defend those same fat cats. Seriously. Wars are now fought for the pockets of the wealthy, not to defend our rights. It pains me when I hear young men and women joining the military these days. I just know at some point, they're going to possibly die so some rich man can get richer.

    I moved to Japan last year and over the course of the year you could legit see the change in how ppl view tourists. Like someone posts a video of a cool place and in a few weeks its a mess because everyone rushes it. It sucks.

    I work for the National Archives and Records Admin and we store and take care of ALL vertan records that are needed for their VA claims and im so thankful to see you talk about and shine a light on this industry because everyday I see requests come from these companies that make veterans pay for the records of their service in order to file a claim. We DO NOT AND CANT charge for these services and its more likely that a veteran themselves will get a response from us faster than the 3rd parties. The rant about how vets are treated in our country is what i feel everyday at my job because we want to help them and give them what they need but a lot of times these third parties actually make it worse because of technicalities that force us to turn down requests and drags time on for the vets. due to the pandemic we had a backlog of requests at our Administration of over 400,000 requests and it took this year to finally finish it. we try our best to give what we can but a lot of times these 3rd parties dont give a damn about the veterans and just try to get money out of them.

      I was surprised, I filed for an increase from 90% back in Oct, had my appt in Nov, and received 100% total and permanent last month. It was a lot faster than I was expecting, but I made sure all of my supporting documentation was going to be ready. 🤷‍♀️

    The defamation mention was there for one reason: It’s a warning that LMG is going to let it go, but if she tries to double down and make claims that the law firm falsified the result or Linus & co somehow fooled the lawyers etc, (happens more often than you think,) it will get real ugly, real fast.

    I started smoking weed in 2020 during the pandemic. It was me senior year in highschool and I was smoking every day all day. I did it consistently up until the end of last year when I had a serious mental health crisis. I decided to cut down on my weed usage because I was heavily using it to self medicate. Before it had kind of worked, but I still wasn’t using it healthily, but by the end of 2023 it was detrimental to my mental health. I now I’m 21 and use it maybe 2-3 times a month and my relationship has become so much better with it. I still enjoy using it but I am not so dependent on it for escapism and ignoring my mental health. It’s now the recreational activity it is meant to be for me, which has seriously helped me with my mental health.

      Getting a thorough diagnosis for mental issues is still such an expensive hurdle no wonder usage spiked. Way too many of us self medicate but this was 'safer' than alcohol or smoking. Glad you've had a positive turn around.
